s the world’s premier event for the casino gaming industry, the Global Gaming Expo (G2E), hosted by the American Gaming Association in partnership with Reed Exhibitions, is a place where business gets done. We strive to make G2E better every year, and in 2015 we’ve made many enhancements designed to enable our industry to be more innovative and allow your business to grow using the G2E platform. With the most extensive and diverse collection of exhibitors to date, G2E 2015 will feature cutting-edge developments in slots, table games, security, iGaming, casino design, casino management systems, staff resources and casino property marketing solutions. We’ll present strengthened educational programming on topics including tribal gaming, sports betting, illegal gambling, integrated resorts, skill-based slot machines, next-generation games, regionalization, millennial customers and financial compliance. The G2E floor also will be enhanced with new networking areas, show schedules to enable more on-floor interaction and improved navigation. Perhaps most significantly, we’re broadening the scope of G2E to match the changing gaming-resort landscape and position our attendees for the future with the inaugural “Integrated Resort Experience at G2E.” Located on the show floor, the IRE will feature innovative non-gaming technology, products and services as guests would experience them. This new effort will deliver a complete solution to help casinos attract more guests, encourage them to stay and play longer and increase revenue per visitor. With a unique circular show floor and working center bar, IRE will be the hot spot and locale for many events. The area will feature interactive demonstrations and seminars for non-gaming amenities. Experts in hotel and Stay Well products, food and beverage, entertainment, meetings and gaming will present concepts that can make a significant impact on the bottom line. As part of our “Indulge” display, G2E attendees will see the newest trends in one of

the most profitable categories within gaming resorts, food and beverage. Indulge will feature dining and drinking with unique restaurant, bar, sports and entertainment concepts. Food Network star Steak Shapiro will host a bracketed chef tournament throughout G2E featuring aspiring culinary talents, who will be judged by celebrated chefs Daniel Boulud and Buddy Valastro. Top mixologists, sommeliers and cicerones from Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada will conduct mixology demonstrations. As we all know, “dinner and a show” has become synonymous with casino resorts, and is a constantly evolving experience. To continue to offer world-class entertainment, our “Captivate” display will feature next-generation products and technologies for theaters, concert halls, event centers, lounge performances, day and nightclub concepts and more. Meetings and conventions have proven to be a substantial benefit to the casino business model. The “Connect” display of our IRE will present smart, ergonomic and connected meeting rooms with the latest A/V, furnishings, lighting and services to ensure casino meeting spaces are at the forefront of technology. After a few days at a convention taking in all that your casino resort has to offer, why not take in a little “Zen” time? Casinos provide a high-volume business for spas, which offer an opportunity for casinos to expand clientele. Zen will include educational seminars on the business of spas, a one-day certification process to become licensed spa managers, new fitness offerings, up-and-coming treatments and other wellness innovations. The core G2E show floor will present the greatest depth of games, and the Integrated Resort Experience will be the place to see them in casino settings. This “Play” area also will feature next-generation casino management systems, which can monitor non-gaming spend in addition to gaming activity. We look forward to welcoming you to G2E 2015. Industry Vice President, Reed Exhibitions

Ed Several

G

2E will move forward this year with a larger show floor, innovative ideas and dynamic new leadership. Ed Several is senior vice president and general manager of Reed Exhibitions, usually a role that simply provides oversight, not direction. But Several has taken a personal interest in G2E and introduced some unique ideas, most importantly the Integrated Resort Experience, an offshoot of the G2E show floor that concentrates on non-gaming amenities. Several brought in Kevin McDonald as industry vice president specifically in charge of G2E. Together, they lead a team of dedicated professionals, who, along with the team at the American Gaming Association, promise to take G2E to the next level and provide the gaming industry with the most cuttingedge conference and trade show in years.

GGB: Senior executives with Reed have always been very helpful and supportive, but you’ve really taken a big step, a different role in G2E. Tell us why you decided to get so deeply involved in the show this year. ED SEVERAL: You know, I’m very passionate about the industry. I actually have a background here. Many years ago, I was involved with the lottery business, having sold several lottery scratch ticket games, as well as keno games. So, it’s actually something that I’ve always wanted to do, and when the opportunity came, I jumped at it. If you think I’m hands-on, it’s because of the passion that I feel for the industry, and I’m excited to be part of it.

And let’s be honest; this is an important show to Reed. It’s one of the biggest shows the company has, correct? SEVERAL: Absolutely, it is critically important. And so really, the focus has been and will continue to be on creating value. The effort here is to really develop a way to enable casino properties to grow their business by using their attendance at the G2E event, by experiencing the great products offered by our exhibitors, which is why we’re adding so many events this year, both from an education 6 | G2E Preview 2015

standpoint, and with the new Integrated Resort Experience. Kevin, you have recently been appointed as the industry vice president for G2E, the position that runs the show. What are some of your goals for this year’s show? KEVIN MCDONALD: I actually have two goals for this year’s show. First and foremost, I want to focus on delivering value for all of our attendees and our exhibitors. My goal is to help them connect, which really allows them, in turn, to build and to grow their business, which is really the essence of what G2E is all about. And secondly, we’re launching the Integrated Resort Experience, and I really want to have a successful launch with that program. That’s really the biggest news coming out of the show so far. Tell us how you came up with this idea, and why you launched it. SEVERAL: Together with the AGA, we understand that everything is based on need. And if you look at the industry, the amount of revenue that’s being generated by non-gaming opportunities is growing. We wanted to be able to create this endto-end casino solution, where we can integrate gaming into non-gaming activities to

Kevin McDonald help casino operators grow their business—grow it by attracting more visitors to stay longer, play longer, and participate in different activities, that will ultimately grow all revenue for a casino operator. So the goal of the Integrated Resort Experience is to focus on these non-gaming revenue opportunities? SEVERAL: Absolutely. If you take a look at the opportunities available at the Integrated Resort Experience, it cuts across every element of casino and hotel operations. It goes from the sleeping rooms with stay-well products, to products that offer an improved margin and vacancy rate. It continues into the entertainment portion, to be able to offer talent that is not just about who’s the latest and hottest, but who will attract an audience that will spend, stay and play longer, right on down to being able to attract more conference and business meetings, so this way you can attract more visitors and grow your revenue. How does this translate to the conference sessions? SEVERAL: We’re going to have not only the dedicated G2E conference session for the gaming part of the show, but we’re also continued on pg. 8

I want to focus on delivering value for all of our attendees and our exhibitors. My goal is to help them connect, which really allows them, in turn, to build and to grow their business, which is really the essence of what G2E is all about.

going to have a dedicated Integrated Resort Experience conference to complement that as well. So you’ll be able to bring your entire staff to the G2E event this year. It’s almost like having a staff meeting at G2E, because everyone involved, from the vice president of sales, who is responsible for bringing in more corporate meeting business, right on down to the person who is responsible for bringing the latest and greatest slot machines onto the floor, will be involved. There will be something for everybody on your team, all in one place. It’s an end-to-end casino solution. Kevin, tell us about some of the interactive tools that G2E is offering, to assist both exhibitors and attendees to get the most out of the show. MCDONALD: On our website, you can sign in and create a My Show experience, which allows our attendees and our exhibitors to start making connections prior to the show. And then we have a mobile app that is really robust, and I’m really proud of what we produce there. All of the information you enter on the website can sync to that mobile app, and it gives a guideline and a program to take you around the show and make sure that you’re following through on those connections that you’ve established prior to arrival. Internet gaming now has been operating in the U.S. for more than two years, and will continue to be a hot topic at G2E. Why is this year’s iGaming Congress on Monday, September 29, so important to the development of the industry? SEVERAL: We’re continuing to grow the number of exhibitors that are on the exhibit floor. When you look at it, G2E— Global Gaming Expo—you think about that word “global,” so it’s not just for domestic operators; it’s really for the world. And the products that are available, the information that’s available, the conferences that are available, cover a myriad of topics and cross multiple jurisdictions. And so, iGaming obviously is an important part, and that will be covered at the show, in a very strong manner. 8 | G2E Preview 2015

— Kevin McDonald

There are lots of new companies involved in the industry, and not just in the iGaming sector, that are really putting some innovative products on the market. How are you attracting those companies? SEVERAL: When you look at the amount of innovation that is available at G2E and Integrated Resort Experience this year in 2015, it’s incredible. And the word “innovation” is what it’s all about. While I can’t go into detail about everything, I’ve had a sneak peek at some of the products that will be launched, and they are products that will enable operators to improve the number of visitors they have, to get them to stay longer, to get them to play longer, and improve their overall experience. And at the end of the day, that’s the value that we want to deliver at G2E and the Integrated Resort Experience. As a former lottery guy, you probably would like to see more lottery products and more lottery companies involved in G2E, since there’s this huge convergence going on now. SEVERAL: That would be something that would be a goal, and something that certainly is an additional discussion as well, because certainly I have an interest in that area, and as we see, the larger operators, the larger companies, Scientific Games, and IGT/GTECH, certainly have that in their DNA. So yes, it would be something that we should certainly work toward. Of course, tribal government gaming has always been a very important part of G2E. Tell us how you’re going to serve that segment of the audience. SEVERAL: We are going to dedicate an entire track to Indian gaming. It’s a very important part of the total universe, and we want to make sure that we support it, and certainly this year there’ll be even more available, with very, very valuable topics. In the last few years there have been areas of the G2E show floor devoted to special disciplines like table games, iGaming, security and surveillance, and other things. Does this kind of designa-

tion really work for the exhibitors and the attendees as well? SEVERAL: It works very well. When you look at the way we have organized the floor, we’ve actually made it easier to navigate sectioned off into dedicated areas, and it is put together in a way that you can find everything you need. Solutions in specific areas are put together rather than spread out. How are the mergers of the big slot and lottery companies impacting G2E, and how is that playing a role in this year’s show? SEVERAL: It’s part of the industry, and it is reflected on the show floor. When these acquisitions and mergers happen, you create new brands, you create new entities, you create new opportunities to service the many casino operators that are out there. It’s something that provides a new look for the show floor. We look at it from a dynamic standpoint—it’s really the opportunity to see all of the operations in one place, and in their new form. So, it’s very exciting. And there’s no question that these companies are using G2E as a launch pad. We know the combination of GCA and Multimedia are announcing an entirely new brand at the show. IGT is reinforcing its brand, and Scientific Games is using G2E as a very important brand differentiation point for all its products. SEVERAL: And isn’t that exciting? If you just think about everything you just said, there’s so much to see, so much to learn, so much to communicate. And you’re right, the G2E platform is where these companies have decided to introduce a new brand, introduce a new format. At the end of the day, it’s all about face-to-face. It’s all about that relationship, and what a better way to do it when you can look someone in the eye, when you can have that personal conversation, and have that all surrounded by your products, surrounded by your personnel, surrounded by the camaraderie of the entire industry. It’s just a great way to be able to build your business, face-to-face, and that’s what G2E is ultimately all about.

or years, one of the first sights for passengers flying into Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport has been the word “KONAMI,” in back-lit red letters as bright as any of the casinos down the street. It is, of course, the logo on the side of slot manufacturer Konami Gaming’s Las Vegas headquarters, and it’s always been more than just a sign—it’s a statement. Konami’s name as a landmark on the Las Vegas skyline is a metaphor for the company’s surge in North America in recent years, which has seen this subsidiary of Japanese video game giant Konami Corporation rise from a novice gaming division of an amusement game conglomerate into one of the top four suppliers of slot machines and systems worldwide. Konami’s statement stands to get much louder as the company unveils its new Las Vegas headquarters this fall. As the largest slot-makers were consolidating, Konami embarked on a project to double the size of its Las Vegas facility, adding 200,000 square feet of plant space and renovating the 160,000 square feet in the original facility on the former Trade Center Drive, now known as Konami Circle. As noted by Steve Sutherland, Konami’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, the company’s surge in North America—a sustained roll in sales, market share and ship share that’s lasted nearly a decade—presented the need to expand global development and R&D. “One of the reasons for Konami’s success over the years has been our persistent focus on R&D-driven innovation and quality,” Sutherland says. “Presently, most of Konami Gaming, Inc.’s casino gaming products are designed and developed by the R&D team that resides in our Las Vegas facility and that proactively collaborates with the R&D teams at our Konami Gaming, Japan and Konami Australia facilities… Going forward, we intend to expand the Las Vegas-based R&D team in order to handle the increased demands for more products across a wider range of product categories.” The new facility was designed to expand the capacity of Konami’s Las Vegas product development. According to Konami Chief Executive Officer Satoshi Sakamoto, “The new headquarters will not only allow us to increase the volume of production, but give us the diversity to explore new-generation products.” To plan and oversee the design and construction of the expanded facility—a production, R&D and administrative 12 | G2E Preview 2015

Konami doubled the size of its Las Vegas facility, adding 200,000 square feet of plant space and renovating the 160,000 square feet in the original facility.

complex—Sutherland was joined by Thomas Jingoli, Konami’s executive VP and chief compliance officer (who oversees the Facilities Department) and Ryoichi Kimura, the company’s senior VP and chief administrative officer. “The three of us have been joined at the hip on this project,” says Jingoli. “We report all the details to our boss and CEO, Satoshi Sakamoto. I retained Ty Trueblood (manager of Las Vegas-based construction firm Tybur LLC) to manage the day-today construction matters, and he has been a blessing. I have learned a great deal during this expansion.” The expanded facility will include 150,000 square feet dedicated to manufacturing. “This expanded capacity will allow us to meet current demand as well as any future growth,” Jingoli says. “The new facility also gives us increased flexibility to manufacture larger, multi-station games which require significant space for storage, assembly and testing.” Close to 50,000 square feet in the expanded facility will be dedicated to game and system research and development. “With respect to game design, we enjoy a close collaboration between the R&D teams in Las Vegas, Sydney and Tokyo,” Jingoli says. “We view this synergy as one of the key contributors to our success, and therefore, we expect that it will continue.”

Built for the Future he new Konami headquarters is designed to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council’s silver certification for Leadership in T Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). “Our new facility has been designed and delivered with environment-friendly and energy-saving considerations in every aspect,” says Sakamoto. From subterranean parking and warehousing to geothermal heating and cooling, the facility is a model of eco-friendly efficiency. “Konami has always been very conscious of the environment,” says Jingoli, “and so it was a natural fit for us to build the facility with a goal of obtaining LEED certification. We are asked by customers worldwide about our green practices and our environmental initiatives. We felt this was an important investment to demonstrate our commitment to being good corporate citizens.” Eco-friendly practices have other benefits as well—such as a heating and cooling system that will pay for itself in lower energy costs. “The geothermal will recover its cost over the course of six

years, based on anticipated savings from our heating and air conditioning bills,” Jingoli says. “The entire manufacturing facility will actually be air conditioned, allowing us to remove all of the swamp coolers. All of this was as much of an investment in our employees as it was in the technology.” Jingoli says the new facility will be one of the largest in the state to be heated and cooled through a geothermal system. The new construction attaches to an existing facility that has essentially been rebuilt as new. “Because we are attaching the new expansion to our existing facility, we had to do a complete reconstruction to our original facility,” Jingoli explains. “This required a new roof, special paint, fire protection, LED lighting, carpet and furniture, so when this project is completed, we really have one brand-new facility.” It’s a facility that sets the company up for the future in more ways than one. “First and foremost, the new headquarters will allow us to consolidate all of our offices into one facility,” says Jingoli. “One of our core operating principles involves assembling everyone under one roof so we can create those synergies that occur when you have all departments working closely together.” The new building is designed to accommodate those synergies. “The second floor of the new facility has conference rooms that are equipped with the ability to conduct video conferencing, digital presentations, brainstorming on electronic white boards and conference calls,” Jingoli says. “This new, technology-enabled conference center will provide a world-class working space for us to meet and conduct business with our suppliers and vendors, while preserving appropriate security for critical areas like R&D and manufacturing.” There also is a large, auditorium-sized space that will be a multi-purpose facility, convertible for employee meetings, training programs or as a supplemental showroom. “In short, we have constructed a world-class facility designed to enable Konami’s continued growth,” says Jingoli.

R&D Power ore than anything, Konami’s new headquarters will enable a new generation of product development that promises to M lead to changes in the way some view slot machines. Some of the products being launched at this year’s G2E reflect new generations of what Konami has done well in the past—a new cabinet called the Concerto, new capabilities G2E Preview 2015 | 13

amusement-based gaming products like Advantage Revolution, Titan 360 and Rapid Revolver. But the next frontier for Konami in terms of game design is the same one facing all suppliers and operators in today’s industry—how to appeal to the new generation of gamblers, the millennials and Gen-Xers who don’t generally gravitate to traditional reel-spinning games. In that race, Konami already has a leg up, thanks to the inherent advantages of having a parent company as wellversed in pleasing young gamers as Japan’s Konami Corporation.

Sutherland says serving the millennials could significantly change the way the slot floor looks over the next decade. “Our industry has experienced a few significant product innovations which have materially altered the experience of the slot floor,” he says. “Moving forward, casinos will devote attention to attracting the next generation of patrons to their properties. And while research and actual data show that Gen X and millennial patrons come to casinos with a preference for non-gaming amenities and table games, it is widely speculated that these segments are awaiting a more relevant experience before they begin spending their money to be entertained on the slot floor. “At Konami, we are working with our customers to define the gaming environment that will attract these younger patrons. We see skill-based gaming products, social gaming experiences and gaming on mobile devices within the casino floor as core components of an evolving gaming floor. We do not believe that slapping ‘millennial-friendly’ brands on clones of existing slot products is enough to satisfy the unique needs of the next generations of casino visitors.”

Synkros Advantage s Konami’s games have continued to A evolve, so has its casino management system, the popular Synkros. This year brings more new developments for the system that evolved out of the original KCMS, or Konami Casino Management System. “We find that Synkros has been selected by more and more operators because it offers industry-leading marketing horsepower on top of the most stable and reliable platform,” says Sutherland. “Our customers told us how important system stability was for their ability to run their businesses, so we built a system based on Department of Defense and financial industry best practices, so our system would offer unparalleled up time in high-volume transaction environments like casinos. “We have recently enhanced Synkros to provide best-of-breed kiosk and mobile functionality, along with enhancing our incentive functionality with offer delivery. We also developed Synkros with the capability to capture and leverage the total patron worth for each patron in the database.” At G2E, Konami will launch Synkros Progressive Management, or SPM, which offers a single interface 16 | G2E Preview 2015

within Synkros for defining, configuring, launching and maintaining system-controlled progressive games, custom-owned and created by the casino. Konami’s popular True-Time Tournaments will also be enhanced to include the industry’s first player-on-demand multigame tournament options. True-Time Tournaments was added to Synkros on the basis of customer feedback, says Sutherland. “The ability to offer customers tournament entries that could be played on any windowing-enabled slot machine, in either player-on-demand or synchronized start format, provides a real competitive advantage,” he says. “True-Time Tournaments are being used because they create excitement, drive trips, and increase ADT with a fixed marketing budget.” Synkros also includes a full suite of bonusing and marketing tools, such as targeting players in a specific ZIP code, driving play on midweek days, generating an incremental trip from a player, or increasing ADT from designated player segments in the database. “Synkros’ bonusing tools give the operator a proven set of options,” Sutherland says.

The New Normal lthough mergers have created behemoth A casino-and-lottery competitors in the slot sector, Konami is sticking to its core business of evolving games and systems through R&D and collaboration between its studios, including the new development center in Las Vegas. “Konami has pursued a growth strategy rooted in our belief in consistency,” says Sutherland. “We have had a consistent leadership team and consistent business strategy since we commenced production in 2001. We have had steady success by committing to organic growth and fiscal responsibility. While we will always evaluate market opportunities, we have demonstrated that we can grow our business without pursuing merger and acquisition activity.” Adds Jingoli, “At Konami, we are committed to a set of core values and operating principles. Our experience tells us that if we remain focused on delivering the highest-quality games and systems products, we can continue to deepen relationships with customers and increase our market share.” The values extend far beyond North America, Sutherland adds. “Our approach to gaining market share in international markets like Europe, Asia and South America is really no different than our approach in North America or Australia,” he says. “We listen to our customers, we monitor market data and trends, and we develop the highest-quality products possible for each market.” The new Las Vegas headquarters facility is yet another extension of those core values. “First,” says Sutherland, “Konami is committed to the original vision of our founder, Mr. Kagemasa Kozuki—creating engaging games that capture attention, push the limits of innovation and provide quality in every detail. Second, we honor our word and hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards. “Third, we have made a conscious effort to preserve the consistency of our leadership team with its core focus on organic growth. We recognize the benefits of operating with our management team in a single facility because we see the benefits that result from centralized leadership.”

t’s not a mistake that around 70 percent of the revenue earned on the Las Vegas Strip comes from non-gaming attractions—meetings and conventions, restaurants, bars, lounges, nightclubs, retail, pools, spas and more.

While gaming will always be an important component of the Las Vegas experience, it is increasingly becoming an amenity in and of itself. And with gaming revenue shrinking in most jurisdictions due to competition, the economy and changing gambling habits, casino executives are eyeing every revenue stream to be able to increase their profit margins. G2E recognizes this trend in 2015 with the introduction of the Integrated Resort Experience at G2E (IRE), the firstever, end-to-end casino resort property event. The Integrated Resort Experience connects leading-edge technology, products and services with casino properties to entice more visitors to stay longer and spend more money. The Integrated Resort Experience at G2E provides an innovative and interactive platform that showcases non-gaming products within a mock setting like a casino customer would actually experience, including a center bar. At IRE, attendees will view products 18 | G2E Preview 2015

and services that complement the casino gaming floor such as dining, live entertainment within nightclubs and lounges, retail shopping, spa and fitness offerings and an overall enhanced guest experience. At IRE conference sessions, learn how to grow your non-gaming revenues in ways that are efficient and effective. IRE is expected to attract more than 6,000 hospitality executives seeking leading-edge technology, products and services to entice more visitors, increase on-property spending and lengthen stay. And don’t miss the special events at IRE, including the Cintas Ultra Lounge Fashion Show (see page 60). Entertainment will be offered throughout the day, including a competition of chefs curated by Las Vegas Sands Vice President of F&B Sebastien Silvestri. Participants will include celebrity chefs Wolfgang Puck, “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro and Food Network’s Steak Shapiro. The action will be on the IRE floor at G2E. Don’t miss it!

Play-for-fun and free-play games are becoming a cornerstone for many slotmakers and content providers

S

BY DAVE BONTEMPO

SOCIAL GAMING, IN THE CLASSIC SENSE, CONCERNS online games involving player interaction. In the pragmatic sense, it’s an adrenaline rush. Companies that serve the gaming business target the arena of tablets, computers, apps and androids. Their customers are casino operators, who have found a lightly tapped market of young, technically savvy professionals who enjoy an online experience. Some of these patrons engage in free games, others advance to pay versions and the operators make action accessible at their fingertips. For those who supply online game content, a simple, effective principle reigns: Offer online products that work at physical properties.

20 | G2E Preview 2015

While people may be hesitant about what personal information they share online, this gaming movement brings new meaning to “What's Your Social?” This time, it’s not a number. It’s a question about what games a person likes. Industry operators have struck a form of oil.

IGT Doubles Down

IGT’S DOUBLEDOWN CASINO OFFERS A FULL CASINO experience in one virtual place, which includes more than 40 slots and tournaments featuring top remote game server (RGS) games like Game King Video Poker, Wild Action Poker and weekly poker tournaments. It brings authentic, Las Vegas-style social casino games to more than 6 million players every month. Fan favorites like Cleopatra, Siberian Storm and Wolf Run are available through Facebook and on mobile devices. This is the world’s largest free-to-play online casino, company officials say. “Social gaming plays an integral role in IGT’s business strategy,” says Joe Sigrist, senior vice president and general manager of DoubleDown Casino. “We give slot enthusiasts from around the world an outlet to experience Vegas-style slot entertainment in a fun, free-to-play environment. Players can build brand affinity for their favorite slot titles and grow their confidence in games such as Game King video poker. “Through DoubleDown Casino and our Advantage system, our customers can gain insight into their casino customers’ social gaming preferences and expand the reach of their marketing efforts beyond the walls of their casinos.” IGT purchased DoubleDown Casino in 2012 with an eye for quality content, Sigrist asserts. “It had the foresight to see revenues associated with making proven land-based casino themes such as Cleopatra, Treasures of Troy and the most successful slot of all time, Wheel of Fortune, available for play in a social gaming environment,” he says. Sigrist recalls a pivotal event shaping IGT’s perception of social gaming.

Page 21

“The whole industry took note when IGT entered the social casino space,” Sigrist says. “In terms of a moment that powerfully demonstrated the impact of cross-platform content convergence, many would suggest the 2013 IGT Game King video poker tournament at Casino Del Sol. At this hallmark event, approximately 300,000 players participated in an online and mobile Game King video poker tournament, where the finals culminated in a live event at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona. “This event demonstrated that through the online channel provided by DoubleDown Casino, a regional tribal casino could engage hundreds of thousands of players, many of whom would not ordinarily interface with the Casino Del Sol brand. Today, player engagement in the form of millions of daily active users speaks to the relevance and popularity of IGT’s social casino.”

Rose says Inspired defines social gaming as playing non-cashpayout games on mobile. It can be but isn’t necessarily linked to a social network. Entertainment is the principal user motivation. Maybe, in the social sense, players can “phone it in.” “The growth of the smart-phone market and consumer engagement with their smart phones are definitely driving the social gaming market,” Rose indicates. “The average smart-phone user looks at their phone over 200 times a day. No other channel can boast this level of participation.” How does one balance the social and real-time player? Facebook has outlined that social games can return the same lifetime value as real-money gaming products, Rose asserts. The onus is on developing a game with high distribution but low monetization like Candy Crush, or a low distribution but high monetization game like Game of War. The opportunity for Inspired is finding the sweet spot between these two, Rose says, and he feels that We R Football sits well here.

DoubleDown Casino was named to Facebook’s “Hall of Fame” for social games and ranked the No. 1 social casino by Apple in 2013, according to company reports.

An Inspired Vision

INSPIRED GAMING IS A GLOBAL CONTENT AND TECHNOLOGY company, headquartered in the U.K. It offers unique social, slot, table-game and video lottery products around the world. In January, Inspired acquired the main assets and employees of We R Interactive, including the games I Am Playr and We R Football. I Am Playr, launched in 2011, was the first social football game allowing users to play the life of a professional footballer. More than 21 million people have played the game, company officials say. The new rage is We R Football. “This is the only first-person football game on mobile, putting players closer to the action than ever before by allowing them to manage their team and play match highlights from a first-person perspective,” says David Rose, managing director of special applications for Inspired. “We R Football isn’t just a solo experience; the competitive leagues and peer-to-peer transfer system make it highly community-based.”

SPIN GAMES, WITH OFFICES IN RENO NEVADA, AND BANGKOK, Thailand, designs and develops premium and customized gaming content and technology for the interactive and land-based markets. It has a strong intellectual property portfolio including game patents for The Roc, MIG (Multiplayer Interactive Gaming), ML3 ( 3D HTML5 Gaming) and Wheel Power, among others, company reports say. The immediate health of social gaming appears robust, according to Kent Young, the founder and president of Spin Games, which made itself known to the gaming world at the 2012 G2E. “The market could soon be $5 billion in the United States alone, which is quite significant,” he says. “The growth is outstanding. We continue to see more demand for game content. More people are playing than ever before, and it’s something that is both enjoyable and comfortable for them. “From the social aspect, it is something they can share with their friends. They can talk about a recent win they had on Facebook, for example. From the gaming perspective, it is impressive because the content simulates successful land-based games.” Young says his company likes to develop about 12 new games a year. Much of that is licensed to casinos that use it to service and attract customers. The content is available via several outlets, like computers, tablets and Androids. Slots remain king by a significant margin, Young says, but video poker is gaining popularity. Bingo and keno are also among the prime drivers of social gaming. Both the players and casinos want to copy the experience of a live casino game wherever they are playing, he asserts. It gives patrons the action of a brick-and-mortar establishment and affords casinos a chance to recruit customers to their floors, restaurants and loyalty clubs. G2E Preview 2015 | 21

One of Spin Games’ hottest new products is Triple Bombshell Betties. This is a four-by-five-reel, 40-line game with anticipation reels. By achieving the Three Bombshell Betties, the players trigger the Bombshell Betty Bomb Target Practice Bonus, and players gets to choose their targets and have a chance for big awards and free games when the target is hit. Young is one of the most experienced slot marketers in the industry. With Aristocrat in the early 2000s, he helped create the low-denomination slot boom in the U.S., and he’s now using that experience to aim for a similar revolution online.

carded play. With integrated content management tools, operators can market to players in real time with rewards and promotions more aligned to the player’s own specific interests. One of our partners saw an in-casino revenue lift of 48 percent in Q4 of last year with their carded players who played their Simulated Gaming casino.”

Social Gambit

GAMBLIT GAMING IS A LEADING TECHNOLOGY PROVIDER IN THE emerging interactive entertainment-meets-gaming space. The Glendale, California-based company targets its product to young, technologically sophisticated patrons who normally visit casinos for nightlife and dining. Gamblit adds gaming, primarily through mobile devices, to their portfolio. “Everyone plays social games,” says Marcus Yoder, vice president of regulated markets for Gamblit. “They are cultivating many generations of new players, and it’s a huge opportunity for us in the casino world to bring them experiences similar to what they are already playing every day, on their phones, computers and game consoles.

Accountability

GAMEACCOUNT NETWORK IS A LEADING PROVIDER OF AN INTERNET gaming system capable of being deployed anywhere in the world. GameAccount’s sytems feature award-winning internet and integrated third-party games. The tie between brick-and-mortar and social gaming becomes increasingly strong, according to Dana Takrudtong, vice president of sales in North America for GameAccount Network. GameAccount is headquartered in Las Vegas; its parent company is in London. “Social gaming is paramount to the land-based industry,” Takrudtong says. “I’ve traveled across the United States for the last three years working to better understand operators’ visions for where they see their brand online a year from now, and many say they want to be a ‘mobile first’-focused business, or have more traffic coming to their website, but just don’t know the best tools to increase digital engagement. “Social gaming is a seamless, natural fit as an engagement channel, because operators provide an entertainment experience the players know and love in casino games.” Takrudtong says lobbyists and politicians can impede the spread of real-money regulation in the space, but it’s futile to believe that will stop people from playing casino games online. Consumers want to buy their shoes, pick out their groceries and play their slot machines online, she contends. Operators need to decide whether they want to offer that experience or stomach the fact their players will seek that experience elsewhere. The mechanics are in place for a strong social gaming future, she says. “If we continue to create exciting social mechanics, such as real-time online tournaments, in the B2B Simulated Gaming space, we enable operators to market to a captive audience of players who can become long-term patrons of the casino operation,” Takrudtong predicts. “The impact of a product like Simulated Gaming, our social casino format, to an operation is truly material. By serving as a platform with a meaningful automated back office, we can help operators manage an iGaming floor that has the equivalent of 100 percent 22 | G2E Preview 2015

Gamblit’s Police Pooches

“If we define social gaming as online free-to-play (F2P) or virtual-currency-purchase (VCP) versions of any game you would find in a casino or sports-betting (not fantasy sports betting), then there is a definite role. Gamblers enjoy their favorite games whether playing for money or ‘practicing.’ You don’t know how many times I have seen ‘Black Widow’ played for free on someone’s laptop while waiting for a plane to take off. It continues the affinity a player has for a specific game that they love to play in the casino. “The wow factor in social games comes from fun, compelling game play that entertains hundreds of millions of people every day. The wonderful thing about the advent of mobile games over the last decade, and having these powerful devices on us 24/7, is that it’s opened the door to casual gaming for millions of people that didn’t consider themselves gamers. On average, only about 2 percent of customers ever spend a dime in mobile games. But when they do, a game like Clash of Clans famously makes millions of dollars per day.” Regarding the emergence of Gamblit, Yoder says the casino industry is going through a major shift in how customers see them. The properties have become entertainment destinations for millennials and Gen Xers, rather than simply a place to gamble. “We saw a huge opportunity to make games that we like to play,” Yoder says. “It’s more like an arcade experience that appeals to what younger people prefer to do anyway.”

Yoder says Gamblit plays a versatile role in the social gaming trend. It brings games to the online and land-based market. Tablets, tables and new gaming machines all will bear the Gamblit footprint, he believes. Yoder says his company can help millennials and Gen Xers scratch their gaming itch. On any gaming level. The social playing field, however, has become more crowded. “Social gaming is becoming increasingly competitive,” he indicates. “Budgets for games aimed at the Top 50 grossing charts are often in the tens of millions of dollars, so companies are making less of them and investing more, similar to what the console industry went through over the last decade, and the movie industry. Less is more, essentially. We see a unique opportunity for us to work with the best developers in the video game space and even bring their hit games back to life in our proprietary engine and publishing model.” The future of social gaming may also depend on where one is socializing. “Few hits are universal,” Yoder says. “For every Candy Crush, there are thousands of failures. Around 2,500 apps get submitted into the app stores each week, and the average lifetime revenue is around $20. So it’s a very competitive space. Things like licenses have become increasingly important to stand above the crowd. “I think you see a lot of similarities on the casino floor. It’s all about getting and retaining customers. Soccer games are very successful outside of the U.S., while games like Puzzles and Dragons make millions a day in Japan but haven’t had the same success in the U.S. So there are definitely certain genres and types of game play that work better in certain regions.”

Scientific Strategy

SCIENTIFIC GAMES IS THE WORLD’S LEADING PROVIDER OF LOTTERY and casino entertainment. The company operates in three divisions: Lottery, Gaming and Interactive. The Scientific Games global headquarters is in Las Vegas, while the SG Interactive division is headquartered in Chicago with many offices around the world, including Cedar Falls, Iowa; Manchester, U.K.; Stockholm, Sweden; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Las Vegas. SG Interactive, the online and social gaming arm of Scientific Games, operates in three distinct product verticals, all anchored by its unrivaled content library of proprietary Bally, Barcrest, Shuffle Master and Williams slots and table games. The operating areas include the company’s online real-money 24 | G2E Preview 2015

wagering Game Server business, which provides its casino game portfolio to online casinos in regulated iGaming jurisdictions around the world. Another area is the social casino business, which includes the Jackpot Party, Gold Fish, Quick Hit and Hot Shot casino slot games, among others. A third operational realm is the award-winning SG Universe product suite, which includes the SG Universe Mobile Concierge marketing system with over 150 unique playerengaging features and over 22 million player downloads to date. The SG Universe Play4Fun Network platform provides landbased casinos a customized social casino platform with which to engage their players within and outside the walls of their casino, along with its SG Universe VenueBet platform that turns a mobile device into an incremental wagering opportunity for both traditional and non-traditional game play throughout a casino property or within beacon-controlled areas. “SG Interactive has been a participant in the social gaming world since the early days of social casino,” says Rory Shanahan, the head of marketing & B2B social products for Scientific Games Interactive. “In addition to operating some of the most successful social casinos on Facebook, iOS, Android and Kindle—most notably our flagship Jackpot Party Casino Slots that turned three years old this summer—for the past two years we’ve provided forward-thinking land-based casinos with a customized B2B social casino platform (the SG Universe Play4Fun Network). It has delivered thousands of entertainment hours to our partners’ players via web and mobile devices, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars to our partners. “We’re able to leverage our knowledge of what does (and doesn’t) work with players—battle-tested against millions of daily players across our game portfolio—and distill those features, games and functionality into the platforms we operate on behalf of our landbased casino partners.” Shanahan says land-based casinos looking to succeed in this space must offer a compelling social casino experience (multiple free credit hooks, viral marketing through “refer-a-friend” type options, the feeling of “progressing” through an experience and/or “unlocking” exclusive content, etc.) anchored by the game brands and game play found on the casino floor. Players who enjoy Zeus III or Hot Shot Progressive on a casino floor will expect to see those games online in the social casino. He adds that players demand anytime, anywhere access to the authentic casino content with which they’re already familiar in their social casino experiences. What has worked best for the company? “We are extremely pleased with the performance of the SG Universe Play4Fun Network,” Shanahan indicates. “With some customers live since summer 2013, we’ve consistently seen tremendous success in terms of player retention and monetization rates for our partners online and via native iOS and Android applications, with network-wide averages painting a clear picture of the benefit casinos and their players find from the platform. Players are logging fourplus daily sessions, coming in at 20 or more minutes per session and monetization at rates well above some of the strongest-performing social games on Facebook. “For our Play4Fun Network partners with an established online community (based on unique players engaged monthly), 70-85 percent of players visit the platform daily. Through our platform, which requires no incremental headcount for land-based casinos to operate on an ongoing basis, players are spending 80-100 minutes per day engaged with each casino’s brand online and on mobile devices, with players engaged online in the social casino platform showing an increase in their casino floor spend after joining the casino’s online player community.”

t the G2E trade show, AGS will showcase a roulette utility device called “The Tornado.” The device enhances player interaction by allowing the player to control the spin of the roulette ball—something never before seen on the casino floor. When a player presses the button on the remote ball activation device, a signal is sent to a control unit which releases the ball into the roulette wheel through a shoot. The necessary hardware can easily and quickly be installed over any traditional 32-inch roulette wheel. Since there is no need for the dealer to manually introduce the ball to the roulette wheel, human error is eliminated and a truly perfect and secure spin is guaranteed every time. This also allows the dealer to spend more time interacting with players and to keep an eye on the table. For more information, visit playags.com.

irst there were line wins. Then there were adjacent reels that awarded wins. Now, Aristocrat has revolutionized the way games can grow anticipation and the way players can win by grouping symbols together. This progressive new technology is called Cluster Power. With Cluster Power, instead of a line game or Reel Power game, players can win with a group of symbols across multiple reels. The configurations are very easy to follow, increase player engagement and grow anticipation levels. In simplest terms, Cluster Power is a group of matching symbols connected horizontally and/or vertically. The cluster pay is determined by the number of adjacent reels in the cluster, and the cluster win is the cluster pay multiplied by the number of symbols in the cluster. Cluster Power was created by Aristocrat’s Studio 54 design team, the group responsible for top-selling hits such as the Tarzan franchise and The Walking Dead. Cluster Power technology is appearing now on Aristocrat’s breakthrough slot, Sons of Anarchy. In the near future, players will find Cluster Power on other new Aristocrat game titles. GlobalSuite Power Zoom CASINO DATA IMAGING • BOOTH 3036

N

ew features and advancements to CDI’s GlobalSuite advanced visualization analysis program show the company’s continued focus and investment in customers, technology and real-world solutions. At G2E, the company will showcase new features of the suite of products that reflect advancements and updates, including GlobalSuite Power Zoom, Power Reports and Power Add-Ons. These features apply to both single and multi-site casino operations. GlobalSuite Power Zoom plays an important role in data visualization by allowing an array of end-user levels to use information intuitively without deep technical expertise. The technology makes it easier to interact with large amounts of data in ways that are “powerful, informative and fun,” according to the company. By visualizing a handful to thousands of related items at once, users can see trends and patterns that would be hidden when looking one item at a time. Power Zoom makes it easy for comparative analysis, and easy to spot trends, outliers and anomalies. GlobalSuite Power Reports addresses customer feedback con-

cerning more versatility to expand parameters, sorting, exporting, graphs and more. In essence, certain analysis reports can become “one-stop shops” for high-level views with drill-downs, without having to be a report guru. The bottom line is quickly identifying performance trends and taking action. Customers can also look for saturation levels (theme, denomination, etc.), compare market share indexes, utilization and more. GlobalSuite Power Add-Ons allow for more specific interactive views from the GS Quick Launch tool bar. These are interactive performance grids customized for other challenges that management wishes to address. A major focus for CDI is conducting business discovery with customers to ensure the best path to using GlobalSuite features and identify the most relevant data for analysis. This allows the CDI team to better understand the questions and challenges end users deal with daily. The GS platform allows developers great flexibility in keeping pace with technology and meeting current and future customer needs. For more information, visit casinodataimaging.com.

EcoGir Antibacterial Fabric

SCR Banknote Recycler

CINTAS CORPORATION • BOOTH 3316

CRANE PAYMENT INNOVATIONS • BOOTH 1850

C

intas is one of the first in the apparel industry to take readyto-wear apparel to the next level by introducing new technology in their uniforms for a fresher and greener approach to employee apparel. This new fabric technology, EcoGir Antibacterial Fabric, actively reduces the number of germs on fabric, making it crisp and cleaner for the end wearer. The EcoGir Antibacterial Fabric will be added to Cintas’ Regeneration Suiting Collection this fall, offering wearers a fresher approach. The updated garments offer several additional benefits that help make uniforms more hygienic, such as odor management features using Odegon Shields technology. Odegon Shields are specialized underarm shields designed to trap odor molecules, leaving a fresh scent. The functionality of this feature is recharged with every wash cycle. In addition to minimizing body odor, Cintas incorporates breathable Aerocool lining designed to evaporate moisture, keeping the wearer cool and comfortable all day long. With the physical benefits of the technology Cintas built into these garments, individuals will be able to extend the life, beyond their regular wash and wear. Washing can contribute to a shortened life of a suit. The new features within the Regeneration suiting collection will reduce the need to wash a suit due to odors, which aids in the extension of garment life. Cintas is committed to improving the lives of its customers, partners and communities by integrating environmentally sustainable practices, principles and solutions across its business. rane Payment Innovations (CPI) will be showcasing its new MEI SCR banknote recycler at Booth No. 1850 at G2E this year. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how the SCR makes payment transactions faster, easier and more secure than ever. The SCR combines the performance and reliability of SC Advance technology with the benefits of note recycling as part of a total cash management solution. As a single closedloop system, the SCR accepts, accounts for and stores cash from one player to give as change to the next. This allows operators to pay out winnings completely, in higher-value notes, without worrying about issues like hopper starvation. And by holding up to 60 notes on each of its two recycling drums, the SCR provides the capacity required for longer machine uptime, leading to an improved win/machine and, ultimately, lower operating costs. Note recycling also allows players to stay at the machine as opposed

to using a coin changer, a trip that takes time away from play and also limits privacy. The SCR is equipped with the same acceptor head as the one used by the proven SC note acceptor platform, of which there are more than 1.5 million units installed globally. The recycling drums utilize technology from MEI’s four-denomination BNR (bank note recycler) and singledenomination VNR (vending note recycler). What makes the SCR unique among note recyclers are its security features. The SCR offers exceptional fraud defense and internal security controls. Its architecture includes a removable anti-stringing module, as well as a specialized inventory management system that accurately tracks the number of notes going into and out of the machine. It also provides complete note accountability when powered down. And access to system components, when needed for maintenance, can be done without providing access to secured notes. ince JCM Global acquired FutureLogic in September 2014, the companies have been working diligently to bring their innovative solutions into one product portfolio and maximize benefits for their customers around the world. One progressive product that is already bringing extensive customer benefit is Ticket2Go, a retrofit ticketing solution for gaming and AWP devices that do not support standard ticketing protocols. For the U.K. market, it is the first and only system to work across all the post-2007 legacy machines in a location. The innovative ticketing solution was developed specifically for AWP/low-payout machine markets, and delivers a networked ticket-in/ticket-out solution in addition to the proven network-less Ticket Payout feature. Ticket2Go offers a retrofit ticketing solution for gaming machines that do not support open standard ticketing protocols, as well as machines that support the new GBG U.K. TITO standards. Multi-lingual and multicurrency, Ticket2Go can be installed across multiple sites, enabling operators to replace coin payout technology with a simple ticket-

40 | G2E Preview 2015

based solution. Further, the added Ticket2Go Ticket Redemption Module can be integrated with any third-party ticket redemption terminal, creating a secure and automated solution for gaming venues. Ticket2Go TITO is designed for machines installed with ccTalk and parallel coin mechs and bill validators. Several external side box options with or without ticket scanners are available for machines that do not support the internal mounting of a printer and/or are fitted with a note acceptor that does not accept standard TITO tickets. Ticket2Go TITO operates across a standard Ethernet network that is used to connect the machine with the Ticket2Go Redemption Terminal, which acts as the site controller. JCM recently entered into an agreement with Luxury Leisure, part of the Novomatic UK Group of Companies, a leading U.K. AGC operator, to install Ticket2Go at Luxury Leisure gaming venues located throughout the U.K. It is the first major rollout of Ticket2Go in the U.K. arcade and bingo markets following the introduction of new U.K. TITO protocol standards. DM Wagering SCIENTIFIC GAMES CORPORATION • BOOTH 1126

D

M Wagering is a trailblazing new application for the Elite Bonusing Suite (EBS) that enables players to wager on secondary casino games without leaving their machine, providing operators with a new potential revenue source while offering players an enhanced entertainment experience. This first-of-its-kind gaming experience lets players use credits from their base-game credit meter to purchase tickets in additional games. Operators currently using EBS and Bally’s iVIEW Display Manager (DM) player-user interface have the opportunity to offer this powerful floor-wide technology to increase coin-in, excitement and customization on their casino floor. The first game available for DM Wagering is a lottery-style game called Casino Lotto. Casino operators can offer two different types of lottery options with DM Wagering’s Casino Lotto: instant results for un-carded and carded players, or scheduled results for carded players only. The scheduled results provide additional incentive for players to return to the property to collect their winnings, and the instant results make the most of uncarded play with immediate gratification. DM Wagering is a highly configurable application that

42 | G2E Preview 2015

allows operators to customize the games they offer to best fit their needs. For example, the prize levels can be set amounts or can increase with each additional ticket purchased. They also can decide whether to have a few big winners or many smaller winners, ensuring the games truly fit the needs of their property and excite their players. The DM Wagering application evolved from the popularity of the other EBS applications like Virtual Racing, which enables operators with iVIEW DM to run a bonusing event on the main game screen. The main slot game remains fully playable while players take part in the DM Wagering game, providing an additional new revenue source on top of the existing game. While DM Wagering is launching with Casino Lotto, the road map will include Casino Keno buy-in slot tournaments, virtual racing, and a variety of branded games and events. DM Wagering is the only product in the gaming industry that allows players to use credits from their base game to participate in a secondary game. This application will be part of EBS 13.5, and is expected to be available to customers in late 2015. For more information, visit scientificgames.com.

Rapid Games SPIN GAMES LLC • BOOTH 2410

S

pin Games LLC will be debuting Rapid Games at this year’s G2E. This will be the industry’s first Class II on-property mobile entertainment. Available for iPhone and Android, Rapid Games lets players download straight to their phone while on property. An onproperty real-money mobile gaming platform technology, Rapid Games is integrated with a “secure wallet” that will allow players to transfer credits from their phones. Players can easily add money to and from their account online or via mobile devices with their credit card, debit card and/or checking account. Cage credit transfer also is available. Rapid Games comes with geolocation technology allowing casino boundary access locations. Rapid Games technology will also allow casinos to offer value-added services such as casino offers, loyalty programs and purchase history.

Spin Games subsidiary Respin LLC will initially launch Rapid Games with two exclusive games on the mobile app, Rapid Bingo and Lucky Daub. Additional games are planned to launch in the fourth quarter of 2015. Players will be attracted to the look and feel and the user-friendly interface. Both games feature bright colors and anticipation sounds. Lucky Daub is more of a traditional bingo game where players manually choose their daubs. Players can choose two to four cards and bet from one to 100 credits. Rapid Bingo comes with an auto-daub feature that automatically marks the numbers. Players can choose two to 24 cards and bet up to 100 credits. Each round of bingo is approximately three minutes in length. In both games, celebration sounds announce Rapid Coin and Bingo wins. Gaming Floor Live – GFL Gaming TCSJOHNHUXLEY • BOOTH 4439

N

ew to TCSJohnHuxley’s Gaming Floor Live (GFL) platform, and debuting at G2E 2015, is the GFL Gaming module, which includes fixed and portable electronic terminals that enable space-saving live table play. The innovative GFL Gaming Terminals product enables customers to play live casino tables through a fixed or portable terminal from any licensed area in the casino. With GFL Gaming, players can enjoy the privacy of virtual gaming, yet still experience the exciting casino environment. Perfect for use in licensed areas off the gaming floor—such as bars, restaurants and smoking zones—GFL Gaming helps to increase the number of player positions per table without additional seating and equipment requirements. This is a simple solution with a significantly smaller footprint than a traditional electronic gaming terminal. Visitors to G2E will see a variety of fixed-terminal options that feature roulette, baccarat and sic bo with the choice to switch between live and RNG-based games. Real-time monitoring across GFL Gaming ensures maximum security. For GFL Fixed terminals, credits can be added

46 | G2E Preview 2015

by ticket in/ticket out or cashless methods. Alternatively, casino staff members can assign players a unique numerical login that’s associated with their purchased credit. All the player has to do is log in to any terminal to access their funds. All bets and cash transactions are approved by the server before being accepted and can be overseen by operators on an administration console. GFL Gaming Terminals do not store any critical information or determine the outcome of any game; this is all managed by the server. The GFL Gaming module offers real-time fixed reporting with insight into number of players, revenue, reconciliation, etc. By simply accessing the browser-based module dashboard, casino operators can evaluate the status of their GFL Gaming terminals. Due to the modular and scalable aspects of the Gaming Floor Live platform, operators are spared the expense of having to invest and implement large back-end systems. At entry level, it is possible to connect any device from just one table to the entire casino floor; the choice depends on the operator and current requirements—the system grows with you. Vantiv Data Science VANTIV GAMING SOLUTIONS • BOOTH 1623

D

ata—it is what drives the gaming industry, and what has been traditionally packaged and presented in fragmented forms. Now, thanks to Vantiv Entertainment Solutions, gaming clients can seamlessly harness payment data and analytics to drive even more value to their respective businesses and customers. What many gaming businesses currently lack is comprehensive payments data. Companies can control specific data within their loyalty databases, on-property attractions and select gaming modules. While this data is helpful, they lack the full picture of their customers’ spending behavior. Vantiv Data Science leverages the data of 21 billion annual electronic transactions and more than 500,000 merchants to pinpoint customer behavior within and beyond the four walls of a gaming establishment. This data captures everything that is trackable in everyday spend categories including, but not limited to, visits to supermarkets, retail establishments and gaming outlets, whether via a cashless or point-of-sale platform. Vantiv Data Science has the ability to provide holistic insights within and across categories pertaining to customer value, underlying behaviors that create or destroy value, time series and geospatial spending patterns. These insights allow businesses to track

and understand their customers’ unique behaviors, providing unprecedented access to their affluency status, buying patterns and loyalty to gaming as well as non-gaming activities. Additionally, Vantiv Data Science’s information helps clients better understand customers’ lifetime player value, cost of acquisition and much more. This data allows businesses to build pinpoint-accurate customer profiles that can be used for customized marketing and outreach efforts. While similar to how casinos utilize data for player reward programs, Vantiv Data Science helps establishments better understand their customers for grouping into segments, deeper analytics or direct action. Vantiv Data Science also links credit and debit cards with a unique device, providing visibility into the offline retail transactions that those credit and debit cards make. This enables offline merchant transactions to be correlated with the online behaviors of the cardholder at a scale—and in real time—which previously did not exist. In the modern gaming world, Vantiv Data Science equates to knowing your customers—and knowing them quite well. For more information, visit vantiv.com.

Patron ID Validation & Verification VERIDOCS • BOOTH 2930

T

he Patron ID Validation & Verification solution from Veridocs was developed for businesses looking to enhance their existing customer ID management system and add a robust first-line-of-defense mechanism against patrons entering their property (i.e. casinos, nightclubs, bars, special events, etc.) with counterfeit IDs, underage or while on an internal or external watch list. The Veridocs system sets itself apart from competing solutions by taking the patron management process beyond simple ID validation. At the nucleus of the Veridocs system lies its revolutionary software, which seamlessly works with any operation’s existing IT infrastructure and system. Once deployed, security personnel can perform all of the following immediately at the entrance/check-point of the property: • Authenticate the validity of the identification document • Validate all built-in security features on an ID such as

48 | G2E Preview 2015

holograms, watermarks, etc. • Compare the physical information of the ID to barcode and magstripe information embedded in the document • Ensure the machine readable zone (MRZ) format is correct and verify the information on the front of the document • Check the patron against internal and external VIP or watch list • Send email and SMS alerts to security, surveillance and customer loyalty departments for clearance and notification purposes. With the Patron ID Validation & Verification solution from Veridocs, all staff guesswork is alleviated, and the security system’s reliability is enhanced, resulting in an incident-free and safer establishment. Cost savings yielded from bolstered safety alone for some customers has produced a 100 percent ROI in just 30 days. For more information, visit veridocs.com.

The iGaming Option WITH iGAMING LEGAL IN SOME U.S. STATES, G2E TAKES A LOOK AT WHERE IT’S BEEN AND WHERE IT’S GOING

he debate is over. iGaming is now legal in three states and T several other states have been debating making it legal. Yes, there’s that pesky RAWA effort in Congress to ban iGaming in the U.S. altogether, but little has come of that with so many other pressing issues for Congress to consider. So let’s settle in for some true iGaming education at G2E. On Monday, September 28, the third edition of the iGaming Congress convenes with topics that will educate and inform, as well as entertain. Consider: The Case for Social: Integrating Engagement, Revenue & Retention Strategy With a lackluster launch of iGaming in the U.S., some casinos are discounting the value of social gaming in their ongoing marketing campaigns. That would be a mistake. Social gaming players are just one step from the casino, giving you a chance to touch your customers on a daily basis, deliver powerful incentives to visit your casino, and create a loyalty that can’t be dented by your competitors. Experts will discuss the strategies of social gaming, the best messages to deliver during game play, and how to reward social players for their loyalty. New Research on Internet Gambling: Lessons for Industry, Regulations & Public Health With iGaming legal in many jurisdictions 50 | G2E Preview 2015

Video Adventures: Tapping into the eSports Phenomenon You know those video games that your kids are playing? Betting on those games is the gaming industry’s newest idea in appealing to a younger demographic. This session will fill you in on the eSports industry and how betting on these games is gaining steam in both the online and terrestrial worlds. Whether it’s competitive war games or racing ventures, the eSports world is growing by leaps and bounds. Casinos are already hosting terrestrial tournaments featuring these video games. Don’t miss out. And it’s not over when the iGaming Congress adjourns on Monday. The regular conference program continues to feature iGaming at every level. Because iGaming is so integrated within the overall gaming industry, almost every session will reference the online activity. You’ll find iGaming in Indian Country, checking into the legal status of Class II gaming online, as well as efforts to legalize tribal iPoker in states like California.

around the world, there is a wealth of data for countries just considering legalization— not only operational, but also regulatory, behavioral and performance-based information. At this session, experts will discuss how iGaming is effectively regulated in most jurisdictions, the best practices when marketing to potential players, and the health implications of problem gaming on the internet. Lessons Learned: Late iGaming Adopters Leg Up Early adopters of iGaming may have been disappointed with the results, especially with increased regulatory costs, marketing uncertainties and technical snafus. But while these companies may have been first, those hurdles have mostly been overcome. Regulators are still tweaking the rules, but wholesale changes are now rare. Marketing may be a grind, but at least we know what works and what doesn’t. Geolocation has largely been solved and payment processing is headed that way. Is now the right time?

A discussion on the hot topic of skill games will extend to offering those games in online casinos, and how it might differ from the land-based casino experience. The convergence of lotteries and gaming is also something with an iGaming component. Lottery organizations around the country are examining the option of selling tickets online, producing “instant” games that could be played online, and even expanding into the casino genre for their state-owned lotteries. So iGaming is here to stay and G2E is the place to learn about how iGaming will continue to grow and be an important aspect of the worldwide gaming industry.

Leaving Your Comfort Zone at G2E GLOBAL GAMING WOMEN PRESENTS MULTIPLE EDUCATIONAL, NETWORKING AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES AT G2E 2015. Other GGW workshop sessions will ask participants to think outside the box, leave their comfort zones and divulge strategies to negotiate for better wages, benefits and career outcomes. The fabulous “Kick Up Your Heels” event on Wednesday evening is back for its sixth consecutive year. This fundraising reception benefits the GGW Charitable Education Fund, a scholarship program for gaming women, which awarded more than 50 scholarships to educational events and continuing education programs at UNLV last year. “Kick Up Your Heels” will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the exclusive Hyde nightclub at Bellagio, thanks to generous host MGM Resorts International. GGW’s launch of its Lean In Circles on Thursday, October 1 will bring the extensive GGW programming at G2E to a close.

T

he American Gaming Association’s Global Gaming Women (GGW) program has grown tremendously over the four years of its existence. The group offers networking and educational sessions at gaming conferences and trade shows around the world. But nothing compares to GGW’s presence at its birthplace, G2E. And this year’s G2E will be no exception. Starting with a full day of educational programming on Monday, September 28, through the “Lean In” mentoring breakfast on Thursday, October 1, G2E 2015 is the place to be for emerging women leaders of gaming. Opening GGW’s general sessions on Monday, keynote speaker, retired Army Colonel Jill Morgenthaler, will discuss career secrets and inclusive leadership strategies. Morgenthaler holds an impressive resume with a long list of “firsts,” including: • First woman battalion commander in the 88th Regional Support Command; • First woman brigade commander in the 84th Division; and, • First woman Homeland Security adviser for the state of Illinois. Among her many accomplishments, Morgenthaler received a Bronze Star for her leadership performance in Iraq and a Legion of Merit award upon retirement. Author of The Courage to Take Command: Leadership Lessons from a Military Trailblazer,

Morgenthaler’s message is inspirational, innovative and will offer gaming women thoughtful advice for effective leadership at any career level. Following Morgenthaler’s address, GGW’s “State of the Industry” session will bring together powerful women leaders. Moderated by Isle of Capri President and CEO and GGW Chairwoman Virginia McDowell, panelists include: • Lynette DuJohn, chief information officer, business technology, British Columbia Lottery Corporation; • Carolyn Goodman, Las Vegas mayor; • Reneta McCarthy, senior lecturer, Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration; • Maureen Sweeny, chief commercial officer, Aristocrat Technologies; and, • Lynn “Nay” Valbuena, chairwoman, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. These dynamic women will share insights on executive leadership, strategies for career success and how the gaming industry is investing in rising female leaders.

Keynote speaker, retired Army Colonel Jill Morgenthaler

Based on Sheryl Sandberg’s popular book Lean In, GGW Lean In Circles are a group mentoring program intended for gaming women to openly discuss career issues, work-life balance and the power of peer support to learn and grow together. A panel discussion of top gaming women executives including Caesars’ Senior Vice President of Gaming Melissa Price and Regional President Eileen Moore will explain how Lean In Circles have benefited their company, and how GGW will repurpose the tool for women across the industry. Building on its continued success and program growth, GGW’s educational sessions and networking opportunities at G2E 2015 will benefit gaming women of all career levels. Participants will learn new career skills, discover methods to elevate their careers to the C-suite and expand their network through industry connections. G2E Preview 2015 | 59

U

niforms are more than just ways to dress your employees. Uniforms create a brand, communicate a vibe and give your employees confidence to create the best level of customer service possible. Match these female uniforms with the men’s shirts, and you have a total package that reflects the class and beauty of your property and makes life easier for your employees. Remember, if your employees look good, they feel good. They are the connector between a property and its guests, and a new or revamped uniform program will go a long way toward employee satisfaction and influencing a guest’s overall perception. Just as architects look to integrate the latest technology and create the maximum impact in their designs, uniform apparel designers incorporate different technologies into their garments as well. Providing guests with a favorable image of your property is one easy way to

keep guests returning and to create a positive first impression. To capitalize on the potential impact of the first impression, it is important that all the right systems are in place. This means making sure that the property and staff look good, so guests and staff feel great. So don’t miss the Cintas 2015 UltraLounge Fashion Show to understand how your casino can capitalize on new uniforms and employee pride.

ACRES 4.0 A HISTORY OF CHANGING THE FUTURE

As the inventor of player tracking, John Acres knows a thing or two about transforming the gaming industry. With Acres 4.0, that tradition continues in bold new ways.

A

cres 4.0 develops technologies that tap into the human need for better experiences. That translates into more gratifying interactions for players at the casino. Whether they win or lose, the core of Acres 4.0 innovations lies in making guests feel they have had a rewarding experience. Only 20 percent of adults gamble on a regular basis, and casino gambling holds little appeal to those consumers under age 40. Movies, television and online experiences offer far richer story lines, special effects, convenience and personalization. The way Acres 4.0 sees it, that’s the real competition— not just casino resorts vying against one another for market share. To meet this new challenge head on, Acres 4.0 focuses its efforts on tools that enable casino resorts to transcend the current transactional model and enhance the overall guest experience. It happens through Acres 4.0’s flagship product, Kai. Kai monitors players’ con62 | G2E Preview 2015

text—their experience, their worth, their current win/loss ratio, historical preferences and more—as well as the environmental context, such as how busy the casino is and what

resources are available at a given time. Beyond this, Kai is a management and communications tool that allows casinos to deploy personnel to players at critical moments when they may require immediate, personalized attention. In today’s environment, it’s not enough to know your play-

ers’ gaming behaviors; that’s just basic tracking. Instead, Kai gives operators the power to meet guests’ experiential needs in real time, in a way that is efficient and non-burdensome for management. Kai continues to evolve with the introduction of Kai Lightning—a module that harnesses the power of instant communication between casino resorts and guests via smartphone and text messaging— plus Kai Hotel, a transformative product that offers the power of Kai resort-wide. Kai is fully compatible with any existing gaming system from virtually any manufacturer, making it seamless and easy to implement. Players no longer seek transactions. They seek experiences. Acres 4.0 continues to develop the innovations that offer casino resorts the ability to provide experiences in a way that is both rewarding for the player and efficient for the operator. AGS SERIOUS PLAYER

T

his has proven to be another eventful and transformative year for AGS. The company continued to accelerate growth opportunities through strategic acquisitions and greater product diversification. AGS bolstered the depth of its slot portfolio with the acquisition of Cadillac Jack in June, creating a powerful combination of complementary products, services and talent. This acquisition broadened AGS’s range in Class II and Class III markets and the company officially gained an international presence with Cadillac Jack’s strongly established footprint in Mexico. 2015 was a monumental year for the company’s burgeoning table games division, underscored by the launch of innovative and one-of-a-kind concepts such as Counts Kustom’s and Double Ball Roulette, to name a few. Most recently, AGS announced its entry into the social casino and interactive category with the addition of RocketPlay, a renowned developer of online and mobile games. Given such extraordinary events this year, customers visiting AGS at G2E immediately will notice significant changes from last year, as AGS’s product lineup will clearly highlight broader, deeper and more innovative offerings, as well as new product categories. AGS will debut its new Icon cabinet at the show, which boasts a thin profile along with new lighting and improved sound. The cabinet will house the company’s core video content, including two new games, Golden Wins and Tiger! Tiger!, aimed at fans of the high-volatility, big-win style of slot machines. Golden Wins, a Class III, Asian-themed game, will be the first title introduced on the Da Ji Da Li Multi Linked Progressive. Featuring a three-by-five reel configuration,

the game uses an innovative Power XStream evaluation method as opposed to a standard pay line method, which means wins will be evaluated based on the number of symbols, in any position, that occur on adjacent reels. A four-by-five reel, 50- line game, Tiger! Tiger! is a tiger-themed title aimed at both the Class II and Class III markets. The game features Dynamic Streaming Stacks where multiple large stacks of symbols are dynamically inserted from spin to spin. Anywhere from eight to 20 free spins can be awarded based on the number of scattered bonus symbols displayed. For fans of traditional, high-volatility slots, the company will introduce updated versions of its Super 10X and Super 5X titles at G2E. Featuring player-friendly math, familiar symbols and single-payline ease of play, Super 10X Deluxe and Super 5X Jewel Boost are aimed at the underserved high-limit Class II and Class III slot niche. Both titles will be available on AGS’s proven GT5000 cabinet. Rounding out AGS’s G2E slot offering is Colossal Diamonds, on the impossible-to-miss Big Red cabinet. At the size of three standard cabinets, this three-reel, single-payline game performs equivalent of six and continues to be

a massive hit wherever it has been placed. AGS currently is integrating its popular slot and table game content on the RocketPlay platform, including, but not limited to, Royal Reels, So Hot, Double the Devil, Monkey in the Bank, Going Gnome and White Buffalo. Real-money game content is extremely popular on mobile platforms, and AGS hopes to piggyback on the success of RocketPlay’s flagship product, Lucky Play Casino. The company also expects to showcase RocketPlay’s new app, Vegas Fever, at G2E. Last, but certainly not least, AGS will display a lineup of table games at G2E. Since adding this segment to its repertoire late last year, the company has enjoyed rapid growth both in its table game library and number of installations. Making its G2E debut for AGS will be Bonus Spin Blackjack, with a one-of-akind blackjack side bet where players have two ways to win: if one of the first two cards is an Ace, players are paid even money; or if a blackjack is dealt, the player will press a button which spins a virtual wheel to win cash or a unique prize. AGS will showcase the Count’s Kustoms version of the game at G2E, which is based on the popular History Channel show Counting Cars, and offers players the chance to win a custom car, truck or motorcycle. The company plans to offer other branded versions of Bonus Spin Blackjack in the future. Another innovative title to be featured at the show is Criss Cross Poker. Simply put, players are dealt two cards and play against a pay table to make two five-card stud poker hands from five community cards arranged in a cross formation. An optional five-card bonus bet is available that pays odds when the five community cards contain a pair of sixes or better. With the strongest product lineup in the company’s history, AGS eagerly anticipates G2E 2015.

BMM GLOBAL PRESENCE, LOCAL APPROACH

B

MM is the longest established and most experienced private independent gaming test lab in the world, and is internationally recognized, accredited and certified. Originating in Australia and now headquartered in Las Vegas, BMM has been providing professional technical and regulatory compliance services to the gaming industry since 1981. BMM now employs 300 people in 13 global locations, serving more than 400 jurisdictions. BMM’s global presence and local approach, coupled with qualified staff and industry expertise, are the reasons why BMM continues to be one of the world’s leading gaming test labs. BMM is a specialist software testing business in the areas of gaming certification and pre-compliance. BMM tests products from QA to regulatory approval, including slot platforms and games (Class II and III), casino accounting and management systems, progressive systems for slots and table games, and table game math and game rules. In traditional lottery, BMM performs UAT testing and also new game and RNG evaluations for nearly 30 U.S. lotteries. In the internet gaming space, even though it still is being established in the U.S., globally BMM performs platform testing, slot and casino game testing and also integration testing of remote gaming servers into approved platforms. BMM grew its businesses globally, enjoying a record year in 2014. Martin Storm, president and chief executive officer, said, “Growth is being driven by global customers who want better returns on their testing investments. They need their products tested better and faster than ever before without an overall reduction in testing quality. This is new value that BMM generates in the market on a continuous improvement basis.” BMM achieved some significant operational milestones in 2014 and early 2015, expanding its lab capacity globally to enable BMM to more than triple its revenues worldwide—with specific extensions in Moncton, Canada; Las Vegas, Nevada; Vienna, Austria; and Bologna, Italy. With

more lab infrastructure came more technical resources and leadership, and BMM increased staff significantly across these labs. In the U.S., BMM added Delaware, Kansas, Indiana and Massachusetts to nearly 300 other U.S. gaming jurisdictions now recognizing BMM reports. Said Storm, “We are very pleased to see U.S. regulators come

together to embrace the importance of competition between test labs and the benefits of a multi-lab environment.” BMM also has exclusive software tools with recent major version releases of Toolbox, BOAT and Signatures software for its customers. Toolbox, BMM’s internal project management tool set, has been upgraded to not only provide greater detail on BMM performance, but to provide product quality as well. This greater detail can help clients to

identify problem areas, resulting in improved compliance and a reduction in resubmissions. BOAT, BMM’s online approval portal, has been improved to now allow greater control over product approval status for the regulator. BMM Signatures continues to be improved, to increase calculation times and provide users with a simple and easy interface. BMM provides regulatory training around the world through the BMM Academy. Over the last 12 months, BMM has delivered presentations and seminars, both in person and online, to audiences in South America, North America and Europe. BMM also partners with a number of educational institutes to provide curriculum for gaming, QA and testing-based courses,

including CCNB and the McKenzie College in New Brunswick, Canada and also the Macau Polytechnic, Macau. Storm concluded, “As BMM grows and innovates, we are testing products better and faster, while improving product quality by reducing revocations. This provides exceptional value for all our clients across the world.” For more information, visit bmm.com.

EVERI CHANGING CASINO FLOOR OPERATIONS

W

elcome to Everi, the company changing casino floor operations. Everi patrons will experience a number of benefits: next-level security during financial transactions, captivating casino gaming machines and TournEvent, the award-winning casino gaming tournament system.

Operators receive a suite of financial services tools that enables secure transactions, streamlines credit and debit card processing, helps protect against money-laundering threats and includes the innovative 3in-1 Rollover technology that gives patrons access to their funds via ATM, POS debit or credit card cash advances. Everi also boasts a robust intelligence offering to help operators build and maintain patron loyalty. While new in name, Everi blends two companies that have served the casino industry for decades: Global Cash Access Inc. and Multimedia Games Inc. The 1998 merger of First Data, USA Processing and Bank of America Merchant Services created GCA, a company destined to become a leader in gaming-specific payment services and technologies. In the subsequent years, GCA management acquired the Wells Fargo and Bank of America gaming ATM portfolios, plus a number of related companies that enhanced the portfolio of services it could 68 | G2E Preview 2015

offer casino operators. As of 2014, GCA has served more than 1,100 casinos around the world and maintained 386 licenses in 222 gaming jurisdictions. GCA was responsible for more than 85 million casino transactions, totaling nearly $22 billion. Established in 1991, Multimedia Games (MGAM) designs, manufactures and distributes casino gaming machines and advanced network gaming system technology. Based in Austin, Texas, MGAM has long history of introducing engaging games to the Native American and commercial casino markets. MGAM also created the award-winning TournEvent and TournEvent of Champions gaming machine tournaments that have captivated patrons in casinos across the United States. Beyond gaming machines and tournaments, MGAM provides the backbone for the Washington state video lottery terminal market and the New York Lottery racino system.

By the end of 2014, MGAM had placed gaming machines in 507 casinos in North America. The annual TOC tournament has attracted more than 600,000 players since its debut in 2012. In 2015, TOC went international with events in Peru. The same year, the championship tournament finale in Las Vegas, Nevada, awarded more than $1 million in prizes.

The revolutionary step that brought together the two companies took the industry by surprise. The combined entity created a unique business model in the casino market. GCA finalized the acquisition of MGAM in December 2014, with the aim of positioning the unified companies as a fortified strategic partner to casinos, combining a rich set of financial tools, an exciting collection of casino gaming machines and the TournEvent system. The revolutionary step that brought together the two companies took the industry by surprise. After all, unlike the handful of recent same-for-same mergers in the market—where one gaming device manufacturer bought another—this was something completely different, where the payment strengths of GCA met the gaming strengths of MGAM. The combined entity created a unique business model in the casino market. Everi is committed to expanding its innovative and creative reach, building a culture based on the tenets of respect and transparency, and continuously striving to see how the company can help patrons and operators alike have transcendent experiences on every casino floor. elping clients of all sizes get more than they expect is one of the many things that differentiates GLI from other test labs, and at Booth No. 4430 at G2E 2015, GLI will showcase the many ways it helps regulators, suppliers and operators of all sizes and from all locations get more than just testing.

GLiCloud One of those ways is the award-winning GLiCloud inventory management and tracking system. Now attached to more than 100,000 games across North America, GLiCloud is a modern inventory management and tracking system that allows operators and regulators to quickly and instantly check the regulatory status of components on the entire casino floor, all in real time. GLiCloud is field-proven to save time, save money, increase compliance and eliminate human error. It is powered by the web portal GLIAccess, and is easily accessible with the mobile app GLI Mobile, ensuring compliance by delivering updates—in real time— for every component throughout the casino floor. The automation eliminates human error, thereby further increasing the level of compliance. Additionally, because status updates are delivered automatically, the property saves labor time and associated costs. GLiCloud operates on any mobile device, so regulators and casino staff can receive updates and confirm status from anywhere, anytime. In Wheel of Fortune New Orleans’ jackpot progressive bonus, players can spin a touch-screen virtual replica of the famed Wheel of Fortune wheel and vie for any of the game’s five multi-level progressive jackpots. G2E 2015 also will highlight outstanding cabinet innovations, including the new CrystalDual, which takes the stunning design elements of the CrystalCore to new levels with dual 23-inch displays and improved ergonomics. IGT’s S3000 cabinet also will be displayed at G2E; it has enjoyed an impressive first year in the field, effectively redefining the spinning-reel segment and recalibrating player expectations of stepper slots. At G2E, IGT will introduce SpinFerno, a premium tournament product that brings the thrill and competitiveness of automated slot tournaments to the S3000. This turn-key tournament solution is fueled by IGT’s Tournament Manager 5.0, and enables operators to efficiently host multi-site slot tournaments on banks of S3000 cabinets. Consistent with the S3000 cabinet, Spin-Ferno tournaments deliver a uniquely dynamic player experience with unmatched excitement, over-the-top celebrations and industry-leading light and sound capabilities. IGT will launch the Spin-Ferno tournament experience on S3000 titles Hotsy Totsy, Red Hot Diamonds, Fire Bells and

Red Hot Lil’ Devil. Spin-Ferno is one of several premium tournament products that IGT will launch under the TournXtreme product family. IGT will showcase its interactive leadership with a diverse portfolio of solutions that can meet a casino’s needs for desktop and mobile gaming. The company will demonstrate OnPremise, an integrated mobile technology solution that modernizes gaming and sports betting experiences and enables players to wager via a single mobile app anytime within set boundaries. IGT also will spotlight the company’s Play-forFun solution that allows casinos to build local player affinity and position for the expansion of the real-money gaming segment. IGT customers can seamlessly integrate third-party products into any of IGT’s interactive solutions to build a unique interactive offering. Following a wildly popular launch with the company’s customers in Europe, resulting in newly minted millionaires, at G2E, IGT will spotlight two interactive MegaJackpots titles: MegaJackpots Cleopatra and MegaJackpots Siberian Storm. These multi-game, multi-channel progressives link play on desktop and mobile devices to a single progressive jackpot, where liquidity grows quickly to generate bigger jackpots that players can win anywhere they play. IGT also will present very successful titles in HTML5 for desktop. Rounding out the company’s compelling G2E presentation, IGT will demonstrate its state-of-the art systems solutions and applications that enable casinos to offer players personalized experiences. In addition, the Advantage systems integration linking DoubleDown Casino games to casino floor games leverages content convergence combined with valuable casino and player interaction.

Konami Gaming POWER AND PERFORMANCE

W

ith a new video cabinet the company calls “as stunning as it is smart,” a best-in-class Synkros management system and an unmatched library of topperforming games, Konami’s unspoken force proves one does not have to shout to make noise.

Among a recent crowd of industry mergers, unexpected upturns and more new consumer brands than ever before, Konami Gaming will stand out at G2E 2015 for its sheer creative product quality and organizational consistency. Konami continues to build, innovate and pioneer the latest casino gaming and systems products under the leadership of the same core executive team it’s held for more than 14 years. With that stability as the backdrop of its long-awaited new video cabinet, Konami’s strength empowers operators with trust and confidence in meeting the market’s long-term needs. The Concerto Created with the same quality and attention to detail that made the Podium cabinet a milestone success, Konami’s new Concerto video cabinet is characterized by a purely magnetic quality in its design, investment value and aesthetic attraction. Twin 27-inch HD game screens amplify symbols and boost color over Concerto’s smooth black surrounding surface to transform traditional game play into an entirely cinematic experience. Signature holographic side lighting elements and a 19-inch video topper pull attention from the furthest reaches, and Konami’s proprietary new DynamicDash digital interactive LCD button deck with see-though tactical push-buttons provides an impressive visual display without compromising on the haptic feedback component that many gamblers enjoy. Matt Reback, vice president of marketing at Konami, said, “What the Concerto cabinet delivers is a 72 | G2E Preview 2015

collection of multi-sensory components for a harmonious player experience that is memorable and entertaining. That was the spirit behind how we named Concerto. For our customers, however, it will quickly become even more strongly associated with the magnetic performance and player attraction that operators ultimately want.” Concerto is backed by Konami’s new KP3+ platform for more game processing power, higher performance and a longer product life cycle. However, Concerto also supports all of Konami’s popular KP3 platform games, such as Dragon’s Law, China Shores and Solstice Celebration. Among Konami’s Concerto debut release titles are Radiant Queen and Fortune Stacks. Radiant Queen is an original-math Roku Reels Xtra Rewards game with nudging full-reel wilds during the free-game feature, as well as a gigantic symbol feature. Fortune Stacks is a five-reel game that adds bonus multipliers to Action Stacked Symbols appearing on reels 1 and 2 during the free games. “These KP3+ Concerto games leverage the dual screens with larger-than-life art and animation unlike anything before,” Reback said. “Everything vividly flows and interacts, from the video topper to the button panel, to the holographic side lighting, really leveraging the KP3+ platform in the best way possible. But at the same time, operators can still place their proven KP3 top performers on Concerto, so it’s a very versatile machine for whatever content and configurations they need.”

Systems Momentum Every year, Konami’s Synkros casino management system expands to new properties and jurisdictions with competitive new tools and features to give casinos a unique market edge. The release of SYNKiosk this spring triggered wide industry acclaim as operators saw the potential for Synkros to launch integrated loyalty promotions seamlessly across full-screen video slots, mobile devices and kiosk stations. As Konami continues to explore emerging mobile products, powerhouse management features and robust business intelligence features, Synkros carries the ideal core architecture for stable adaptation to solve the industry’s long-term technology needs. Reback stated, “Our Synkros customers truly help drive development. We have a predictable annual version release that deploys free-of-charge across our customer base, with user-first features and functions that are aimed toward the central purpose of driving casino efficiency and revenue.” Unmatched Game Library With all this taken into account, Konami remains focused on producing a wealth of new games and innovating the next proven math models and mechanics. Recent G2E shows have introduced defining new Konami game series, including premiums like Dungeons & Dragons and Neo Contra, and base game product lines such as Roku Reel six-reel and Reeleven 11-reel. This year’s big story is the announcement of Froggerthemed video slots, hosted on Konami’s talltop Podium Monument cabinet. “As with Neo Contra, Frogger borrows from Konami Corporation’s consumer entertainment roots by bringing an iconic video game brand to the casino gaming industry for the first time,” Reback said. “We’ll be debuting two titles at G2E, each featuring a retro street-crossing bonus game that pays tribute to the 8-bit arcade classic.” Frogger will be shown alongside followup titles for both Dungeons & Dragons and Neo Contra. Guests at this year’s G2E also will see additional new releases for Konami’s Rapid Revolver video-mechanical hybrid cabinet, including a stand-alone progressive called Lucky Sticks that combines with most KP3 Konami base games.

Red Square Gaming THE AD AGENCY FOR SMART CASINO BRANDS

R

ed Square Gaming is a full-service advertising agency focused on casino brands. The agency's specialization and energy bring its clients a uniquely deep set of skills that the typical agency cannot. Red Squre Gaming combines strategic thinking, imagination, logistics and technology to deliver creative intelligence so its clients can dominate the competition. Reaching gamers in a complex and competitive world: The world is increasingly complex, the media landscape is shifting at light speed and there are more competitors entering the market every day. Historically, advertising agencies have strived to be everything to everyone. By doing so, category experience often becomes a talking point, rather than a dedicated focus, and service capabilities are expanded simply to fulfill needs, rather than delivering on

greater value. Now, times have changed. General thinking is generally a bad idea. A smarter approach to digital: Intelligent marketing programs that tightly integrate digital are the baseline requisite to compete these days. Traditional advertising—the blocking and tackling of what Red Square Gaming does as casino marketers—is not dead. Quite the contrary. The agency’s approach is to tailor campaigns and platforms to each client, strategically employing the right combination of traditional media, digital, social and mobile for each one. A casi-

no’s marketing should not be purchased off the shelf, nor should it be one-size-fits-all. Gaming—it’s all Red Square Gaming does: The agency’s gaming practice was launched a decade ago with PCI Gaming, now Wind Creek Hospitality, in Alabama. Since that time, racing and gaming properties including Eldorado Resorts and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino have joined the growing list of clients that are integral to the agency’s success. From racing to tribal to commercial, Red Square Gaming now runs the gamut in the casino category. Without casino clients, there is no Red Square Gaming: Simply, the agency’s goal is to become the best casino advertising agency in the country. Red Square Gaming will do that by continuing to partner with casinos that seek to break new ground at the forefront of creative media and gaming.

Casino Data Imaging DISCOVER. SIMPLIFY. OPTIMIZE.

C

asino Data Imaging’s core values remain true in delivering advanced data visualization and analysis solutions to the casino industry. Serving the industry since 2001, CDI is a technology partner to leading casino operators worldwide, ranging from single to multi-casino enterprises. CDI’s platform breakthrough with GlobalSuite provides more synergy with data interfaces and integration plus frequent updates via ClickOnce deployments. The analysis suite components include 2D/3D casino floor data visualization, application control center and report analysis. GlobalSuite modules include slots, table games, player data, MGMD and multi-casino GS Enterprise. Attendees at G2E 2015 will see the latest lineup of GlobalSuite features and functionality. The advancements are a result of user feedback that complements CDI’s mission to provide solutions that optimize casi76 | G2E Preview 2015

no performance and are easy to deploy. These include new GS Power Add-ons, Power Zoom and Power Reports. GlobalSuite Power Add-ons are customized interactive performance grids that address specific customer requirements not effectively found elsewhere. Activated from the Quick Launch tool bar, the GS platform allows for add-on customizations without compromising version updates. GlobalSuite Power Zoom plays an important role in data visualization by allowing an array of end-user levels to use information intuitively without deep technical expertise. By visualizing a handful to thousands of related items at once, users can see trends and patterns that would be hidden when looking at items one-at-a-time. Power Zoom makes it easier to interact with large amounts of data for comparative analysis, spotting trends, outliers and more. GlobalSuite Power Reports address customer feedback concerning more versatility

by expanding report parameters, sorting, exporting, graphs and more. In essence, certain analysis reports can become “one-stop shops” for high-level views with drilldowns. The bottom line is quickly identifying performance trends and taking action. Discover. Simplify. Optimize. Focusing on the customer is vital in fully defining stakeholder roles and gaining an understanding of duties and responsibilities, challenges and current analysis practices. Discovery sessions facilitate more focused installations as end users want to simplify processes while optimizing results. Data visualization is a CDI core competency providing end users (regardless of their skill level) the tools they need to access and analyze data from single and multi-casino locations. GlobalSuite also will complement or enhance existing BI assets already in place. For more information, visit casinodataimaging.com.

The FABICash application is loaded with technological bells and whistles such as electronic signature capture, driver’s license capture, banned patron list and customizable fee tiers. It interfaces with FABI’s proprietary Title 31 software, FABITrack, as well as with other

major Title 31 software providers. FABI’s goal is to provide a reliable and easy-to-use system that will put more money back on the gaming floor while keeping the casino federally compliant and preventing fraud.

On the kiosk front, partnering with Glory and other kiosk manufacturers, FABI engineers built a software application that takes the traditional TITO and billbreak kiosk and turns it into an ATM. FABICash technicians also are in the final stages of developing two new kiosk features: e-check transactions through Certegy and ATM payout with the option to print the funds to slot ticket.

The print-to-ticket ATM payout option is one example of how FABI will accomplish what the casino and guests are looking for: improved customer experience and convenience. Anthony Rabito, FABICash president, said, “This feature along with many others further proves our dedication to developing new technology to benefit our customers and the industry.” Another example of the company’s commitment to new technology is FABICash Mobile, a tablet device that will allow cage cashiers or slot attendants to roam the high-limit areas of the gaming floor to perform credit card cash advances, debit advance and ACH checks right at the players’ games or tables. Rather than having VIPs leave their games to wait in line at the cage for more cash, the transaction experience is brought to them. FABICash will exhibit at G2E Booth No. 3023.

At G2E, JCM will show a new collection of products designed to help operators deepen existing connections and create new ones. One example is the inventive PromoNet system. PromoNet is an intelligent couponing solution that identifies valuable carded and non-carded players, links promotions to game play and delivers where and when they are needed. With PromoNet, operators can easily and quickly tailor different rewards programs to all guests. PromoNet’s triggers work in real time, linking game play met80 | G2E Preview 2015

rics and slot promotions directly to player behavior, raising player club sign-up potential and helping to extend game play and increase slot revenues. PromoNet can be installed as a closedloop, stand-alone issuance and redemption system and can be used across the entire operation at slots, registration desks, restaurants, shops, shows, hotels and many other locations. PromoNet also can be used as an integrated solution with other system applications.

PromoNet offers easy-to-use marketing studio and online monitoring software. PromoNet helps operators connect with players because it personalizes players’ experiences, allowing them to redeem, exchange or accumulate coupons, or progress through game play according to their own rewards program. PromoNet also offers a multitude of ways to segment marketing data with its Campaign Analytics and Business Intelligence features, providing valuable information to identify player preferences, optimize promotion effectiveness and maximize results across the operation. They tell great stories, they know funny jokes and speak passionately about things people care about. They’re clever and unexpected. They are entertaining. “RPM creates brands that know how to work a party,” says a company offiical. “RPM builds brands that drive the conversation, and engage the world in ways that

are hilarious, intriguing, awe-inspiring and heartfelt. In short, brands that are unforgettable.” RPM has developed some of the greatest gaming brands in the country. From Horseshoe’s legendary persona through the dazzling red-carpet world created for the Hollywood brand, RPM finds the insights that speak to gamblers and fun-seekers everywhere. “RPM is about successful brands and profitable partners,” says the offiical. “It’s RPM’s job to push a casino

outside its comfort zone. To see the solutions in every challenge. The company sets the bar very high, for itself and its clients. Spin Games PUTTING MORE SPIN ON GAMING

2

015 marks Spin Games’ third year of attendance at G2E, and the company is bringing new technology, more games and more fun—plus, more spin on gaming. Spin Games will showcase the latest smart-solution gaming technology in addition to an array of new and innovative game content. Spin will offer solutions that will allow casinos to add interactive mobile technology and content to existing offerings. These products will be available to customers through both slots and mobile devices inside casinos. Making a debut this year will be Rapid Games, the industry’s first Class II on-property mobile entertainment. Available for

iPhone and Android, Rapid Games features Spin’s very own Class II content such as Rapid Bingo and Lucky Daub. Its geolocation technology allows on-casino boundary access locations and offers value-added services such as casino offers, loyalty programs and purchase history. Rapid Games uses interactive gaming technology that has been integrated with a secure “wallet,” allowing players to transfer credits to and from their phones. Cage credit transfer capability also is available. Appearing again with more robust technology is Spin’s Multiplayer Interactive Gaming, called the MIG. It uses beacon technology along with Spin’s proprietary

technology and Kinect, which allows players to use their own mobile devices to play community-based for-wager, tournament or social games. Players share a main display and interact using their own mobile devices by logging into a MIG server to jointly play forwager or social games. Players can choose from All-Star BlackJack, Double Dragon Baccarat and Texas Hold’em Poker. Spin also will feature Xtraspin and the ROC, or Robust Online Client remote gaming server. The ROC is designed to streamline the delivery of for-wager gaming content on multiple platforms for the interactive and social markets. Xtraspin secondary bonusing utilizes a mystery controller to generate a bonus separate from the slot game, offering operators added value to existing install base games plus diversity in rewards and bonusing. For more information, stop by G2E Booth #2410 or visit spingames.net.

TCSJohnHuxley FOCUS ON TABLE GAMES—AND THE CUSTOMER

A

t G2E 2015, TCSJohnHuxley will showcase its core products as well as a host of new product innovations that have been developed on the Gaming Floor Live platform. There also will be a strong focus on the service and support side of the business. Tristan Sjöberg, TCSJohnHuxley executive chairman, commented, “Our aim is to be the best supplier of live table gaming solutions, establishing long-lasting partnerships and being much more than just a vendor. We have been working hard to achieve this.” At G2E, the latest developments to the Gaming Floor Live platform include further additions to the GFL Optimization and GFL Media modules, as well as the first showcase of GFL Gaming in the Americas. The innovative GFL Gaming Terminals product enables customers to play live casino tables through a fixed or portable terminal. It’s perfect for use in licensed areas off the gaming floor, such as bars, restaurants and smoking zones. Visitors will see a variety of fixed ter84 | G2E Preview 2015

minal options that feature roulette, baccarat and sic bo with the choice to switch between live and RNG-based games. With such a strong portfolio of technology-enabled offerings, it could be easy to overlook the company’s more traditional product range. Yet, one of the key benchmark products will be a major focus at G2E: the TCSJohnHuxley roulette wheel. It is manufactured to withstand the rigors of 24hour use, seven days a week, 365 days a year, for many years. This world-renowned, precision-engineered RNG product is, in many cases, not well maintained or serviced by the casino to ensure optimum performance and unbiased results. The significance of this cannot be underestimated. TCSJohnHuxley will launch the Roulette Technology Center at the show, where visitors can see the processes and procedures that will be carried out at the purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in Las Vegas. This vital new center will allow operators to sleep easy at night, and assure regula-

tors that any wheel certified by the Roulette Technology Center is in pinnacle condition, fit for purpose and the best it can be. For further information, contact Tracy Cohen, director of marketing, at tracy.cohen@tcsjohnhuxley.com.
