took a delight in mercilessly beating the ‘sin out of children’. His delight in bringing fear into the class room and swaggering in with his cane, could well be explained by a religious belief that he was fulfiling a driving-out-ofsin operation. In truth, he was sowing the seed of bullying, perversion and negative attitudes in his charges. Those children without loving parents to counter the ‘soul damage’ inflicted, could well be replicas of the person responsible for the damage. It would not be out of place to relate the behaviour of other ‘ruthless masters’ on the world scene to similar childhood experiences. The concept that ‘the devil in us’ dominates humankind, encourages the very evils which the ‘medicine’ is trying to remove. This is an outmoded notion and needs ‘standing on its head’ and reversing. In effect, we should start from scratch with the concept that every person has a ‘goodness base’ which will blossom if encouraged to grow from within. This does not mean that discipline should be abandoned in child rearing but it should be fairly applied in an atmosphere of ‘these are the rules for living, and we abide by them for the good of us all’. The soul-development potential I refer to, is not a privileged gift for any particular social group. Indeed, primitive tribes often display more sensitivity and generosity than their ‘civilised’ counterparts who disregard ethics at a stroke. A person originating from the Brazilian rain forest, is likely to display the same character trends as one born in the Western hemisphere, when brought up ‘on a level playing field’. It is all a question of education, the term being used in the widest sense. But people are born with dominant or passive personalities. If a man grows to be dishonest, he may be a ‘passive’ thief and steal quietly and perhaps cunningly, whilst a ‘dominant’ one may be the leader of a gang, and resort to violence. But there is no question of being born a criminal. All people have elements of both feminine and masculine but passive people are inclined to be gentle, artistic, musical, and intuitive, whilst dominant ones are inclined to be vigorous, power hungry, and achievers with a 'get up and go' mentality for better or for worse. History shows how this opportunist group have created immense problems for the human race, and to this day we see the lack of spiritual intuition preventing our handling
