06 The Life of Corpses: Exploring the Ethical Issues of Exhibiting Human Remains A one-day symposium presented in response to the artwork of Mexican artist Teresa Margolles, exploring the ethical issues around the display of human remains. A number of artistic and scientific professionals will discuss the complex interference existing between the artistic possibilities of human remains and the ethical responsibilities. 12 The Ben Nevis Observatory and the Wilson Cloud Chamber The meteorological observatory on the summit of Ben Nevis was manned continuously from 1883 to 1904. 13 Lord Kelvin’s Legacy William Thomson (Lord Kelvin) was Professor of Natural Philosophy in Glasgow all through the second half of the 19th century. The ‘Funmaths show’ focuses on mathematical enjoyment, with interactive puzzles to help develop pupils’ mathematical skills (logic, numeracy and decision making). In the stats lab ‘Getting into Shape: How to Tell the Boys from the Girls’, size measurement data is used to distinguish the sexes in species that aren’t visually distinct. Explore what it is that makes human faces different between the sexes.
