Mr. Miami Luther Campbell aka Uncle Luke is a record label owner, rap performer, radio personality and actor. He is perhaps best known as a one-time member and leader of 2 Live Crew, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories as DJ Luke and star of his own TV show, Luke's Parental Advisory. This man has done everything from concert promoter to club owner but what you don’t get to hear so much is that more than anything this man gets a great joy from giving back. Every football season you can find him on the field coaching his youth football team. RSC- How did you get into coaching the kids? Uncle Luke- I started the youth football league 25 years ago and always wanted to start a league in my community.
Yo here I go again having a conversation with a good friend instead of a straight up and down interview but you know how I get down. This is one of my favorite people on earth. I met him back in the day in Miami while doing his radio show promoting Dade County Fl’s world Aids Day.
RSC- How is your team ranked? Uncle Luke- now I am coaching high school and they are 7th in the nation. Coaching kids that came out of the program. “Chad Johnson aka Ochocino” of the Cincinnati Bangles, and “Antonio Bryant” of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came outa my youth program. RSC- Ok I know him he played wide receiver at Pitt. You are one of the most down to earth people I have ever known. How do you stay so grounded? RSC- Would you consider yourself Spiritual or Religious? Uncle Luke- Spiritual! I have yet to determine my denomination. One day I am going to sit back and research all religions before I put a label on myself.
need some advice I remember when you were working on your book. I am now working on my second what should I keep in mind while I am writing? Uncle Luke- Congrats on the first! I had to read ''Around The World Twice" to make sure that "The Host" wasn't me. Remember that this book represents you and all that you want to put out in the world. What you put out into this world is what you get back.
RSC- Ok so everyone in America tuned into your reality show even my grandmother! I have to ask, how much of this was real? Uncle Luke- 99.1% was real. RSC-What was fake? Uncle Luke- The 1 time I took my son out to talk to girls that was gassed up. RSC- You are always setting new goals for yourself what is next? Uncle Luke- To be a good father for the 1st time I have a child that is being raised in my home. I have something coming up I am really excited about but can’t speak on right now. I am setting up a company so my family and I don’t have to work so hard. Defiantly more movies and TV! RSC- so if I write a film for you and I to do will you do it? Uncle Luke- Of Course!
