Retail Therapy in Morwell IN an inspirational and generous show of support for Morwell’s recent troubles the small hamlet of Meeniyan has taken the inititiave with the local Development Association organising a big day out in the town to support local business in their time of need.
In late April several car loads embarked on the day and by all accounts it was a very enjoyable excursion. President of the Meeniyan Tourism & Traders Association and has a good understanding of what an event like the recent Hazelwood coal mine fire can do to a town’s businesses. All of the businesses located on the main street of Meeniyan are reliant on tourist dollars and have also been affected by natural disasters. Any event driving tourists away from the hamlet directly effects the entire business eco system so they completely understood how hurtful an event like this can be.
