GILBERTâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S YOUTH FISHING DAY Take a child fishing!

This is a great opportunity to spend the morning fishing with family or to bring a young angler that would enjoy the experience! Participants do not need to have a valid urban fishing license during the time of the event! Just check-in that morning with one of the volunteers before fishing.

Saturday, October 5th 8am-Noon Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch (located at the southeast corner of Greenfield and Guadalupe) This community event is FREE of charge, come and join us for a great morning of fishing. The Arizona Game & Fish Department will loan fishing gear and bait to the first 100 participants who do not have equipment of their own. Interested in volunteering for this event? Early registration is encouraged to help prevent course cancellation. If a class or program is cancelled, participants will be notified one week prior to class start date (unless unforeseen circumstances arise) and offered an alternative choice, if available. If no alternative is available, a full refund or credit will be issued. Refund checks require 2-3 weeks processing time.

Parent/Tot (Birth - 6 years) **Parent/Tot classes are designed to encourage both parent and child participation through instructor led activities. With you by their side, children will experience skills in sharing, listening and following directions. Classes are recommended for first time participants and those that aren’t quite ready to leave your side. This is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your child and enhance learning at home. For all Parent/Tot classes, only registered participant and parent are allowed in the classroom. Instructor: Higher Octave Healing Staff **KINDERMUSIK FAMILY TIME** It’s Family Jam time! This class brings children of all ages together for musical and developmental learning in a fun family environment. At each weekly 45-minute class you’ll see how music helps your family laugh together, share, and take turns. “Our Kind of Day” is a 12 week semester divided into two 6-week sessions. Families are welcome to join at the beginning of any session. The instructor, Colleen Rogers, has been a licensed Kindermusik educator since 1998. Her love for children and music is evident in her classes. A onetime materials fee of $50 per family will be collected on the first day of class. This fee pays for Home Materials for the 12 week semester. Daily admission fees apply Stay active while having fun racing across the 8’x 36’ traverse wall. Staff will provide supervised climbing activities while rock-like features and multiple climbing routes add climbing challenges. Sneakers must be worn and a traverse wall waiver must be filled out prior to climbing. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

SANCHIN-RYU KARATE & SELF-DEFENSE FOR YOUTH This class combines two programs into one, the art of Sanchin-Ryu and Project: Secure Child. In a non-competitive environment children will learn the martial art of Sanchin-Ryu, which builds self-confidence and develops focus and discipline. Students are taught alternatives to fighting in a positive, go-at-your-own-pace environment. Project: Secure Child is a program designed to address the growing concerns we have for our children's safety. SUMMER 2013 PROGRAMS June 3 – August 3 (Perry Library) SUMMER READING PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES The library has a summer reading program for all ages from May 30 through July 27. The Pre-Readers’ and Children’s program is “Dig Into Reading”. The Teens’ program is “Beneath the Surface”. The Adults’ program is “Groundbreaking Reads”. Story Time @ Perry Library

Teen Programs @ Perry Library BOOKHYPE The Teens’ Top Ten is an ongoing project in which publishers of young adult books provide pre-published copies and recently published copies of titles to teen book discussion groups in libraries. In exchange, teen readers evaluate books from more than 30 participating publishers. Bookhype is a happy group of avid readers and reviewers. 12-18 YEARS T 8/20, 9/17

WIGGLE WORMS Come to the library for age-appropriate stories and activities for little wigglers. Registration needed. Register online at www.mcldaz.org one week in advance of each session. Geared for children ages 18 months to 3½ years accompanied by a caregiver. 18 MONTHS-3 ½ YEARS M, T 8/19-10/1* 10:30-11am *No Class 9/2 Perry Library Free BABY TIME Have fun sharing books, lap-sit songs and rhymes, puppets, music and shakers, and the parachute. Learn tips to build a foundation for reading. Playtime follows program. This program is for babies birth to 20 months accompanied by a caregiver. For the safety and enjoyment of the babies, no older children are allowed. No registration needed.
