An organized five-day program for ALL Cub Scouts. Conducted at an approved site, during the daylight or early evening hours, but not overnight. For Scouts to learn and achieve advancements within their current rank.

Most camps have limited space and fill quickly. Camp is open to all youth, regardless of race, creed, color, or national origin. No youth will be denied the opportunity to attend Camp because of a physical or mental disability as long as his/her doctor has given him/her permission to attend. Your Camp Director must know about any special requirements before camp starts so that the staff can be prepared to provide the best possible experience.

STAFF APPLICATION FOR DAY AND TWILIGHT CUB SCOUT SUMMER CAMP Camp is staffed entirely by parents and volunteers. All volunteers must attend Staff Training. The Camp Director will contact you with the details of camp. Volunteers who register at least two weeks prior to the start of camp, attend staff training, volunteer every day of camp, and pay a registration for his/her youth will receive a camp t-shirt and a $25 gift certificate good for merchandise at the Northeast Georgia Council Scout Shop. There is a limit of one gift certificate per youth and two per household.

T-shirt, patch, supplies, programming, and fun!

Camp t-shirt, shorts, socks, closed-toes shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

NO SANDALS, CROCS, OR FLIP FLOPS.

WHAT TO BRING?

• Hat • Lightweight jacket, if necessary • Raingear, if necessary • Water bottle with water • Specific items from home if asked during camp for special activities • Required medication must be checked-in with the health office upon arrival to camp. All medications must be in the original container, marked clearly with the patient’s name and dosage, and be noted on the health form • Completed Health and Medical Form #680-001 Parts A and B. WHO CAN ATTEND? To attend camp, a youth must have completed Kindergarten and be a registered Cub Scout. Youth not presently registered may participate by paying an additional registration fee of $25. They will be placed in a Pack based on the school they attend. WHAT NOT TO BRING? Personal electronic equipment (tablets, cell phones, personal electronic devices, etc.), valuable items such as jewelry, pocket knives, glass items, or non-prescription drugs. WILL I WORK ON CUB SCOUT RANKS?

Most camp programs are based on a youth’s Cub Scout Rank. Many of the activities provide opportunities to qualify toward rank advancement. These give campers a head start for advancement for their upcoming rank. The camp program focuses on age-appropriate activities.

SCOUTLAND ADVENTURE CAMP

Passport To Adventure

WHAT IS SCOUTLAND ADVENTURE CAMP?

Scoutland Adventure Camp is a 4-day, 3-night camp located on Lake Lanier, near Gainesville, GA. Meals are served in an air-conditioned dining hall. The camp maintains a full-time health facility and provides a certified aquatics instructor, trained shooting sports personnel, as well as a full-time qualified staff.

WHO CAN COME TO SCOUTLAND ADVENTURE CAMP?

Cub Scouts entering first, second, or third grade in the Fall of 2019 can swim, hike, learn handicrafts, and much more. Parents will accompany Scouts to all activities. Cub Scouts entering fourth grade in the Fall of 2019 receive a special introduction to Boy Scouts. Scouts will participate in eight adventures. Parents will accompany Scouts to all activities. Cub Scouts entering fifth grade in the Fall of 2019 choose to attend as a Scout/Parent team (parents accompany Scouts to all activities) or as a Patrol (1 Scout and 1 Parent; or 2-4 Scouts and 2 adults; or 5-8 Scouts and 3 adults). This experience will include the basics of canoe safety, safe swim defense, safety afloat, Leave No Trace Awareness, setting up camp, and introductory Scout skills. Participants will cook at least three meals with food and equipment provided by Scoutland. Scouts and adults who have passed the Scout swim test will canoe to the Outback Adventure Patrol site while non-swimmers and beginners will be transported to the patrol site by boat. All equipment will be transported to the site for you, so minimal gear is required. Showers are not available at the Outback Adventure site; however, port-o-potties will be available. Scouts sleep in tents they bring. All adults and Scouts will participate in a swim test as part of the check-in process. This means every youth and adult that will get into the water must have the swim test and pass or they will not be able to swim. There is opportunity for those who do not pass to learn from a certified instructor. No siblings allowed unless also registered Cub Scouts entering first – fifth grade in the Fall of 2019.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO CAMP?

Toiletries, towels, clothing for 4 days and 3 nights, extra shoes and socks, poncho/rain gear, swimsuit, sunscreen, insect repellent, water bottle, flashlight, sleeping gear, spending money ($30 recommended), Scout uniform, trash bags, hat and completed Health and Medical Form #680-001 Parts A and B. Food is provided.

SCOUTLAND ADVENTURE CAMP REGISTRATION


SCOUTLAND ADVENTURE CAMP REGISTRATION Although the days are packed with activities, there will be FREE time for swimming, archery, BB guns, fishing, and other activities. Sign-up for these activities at the parent/ leader meeting the first night. Space is limited and available first-come, first-serve. • Fort Adventure. Climb, slide, crawl, and swing at the Cub Scout Activity Grounds. One of the best playgrounds around! • Volleyball • Nature Hike. Hike this short trail and identify local flora and fauna. • Fishing. Take the challenge and try your luck for some great fishing. Learn the skills to land the big one. Bring your own gear and bait. Anyone 16 or older must have a valid Georgia fishing license to fish. • Archery and BB Shooting. Put to use those techniques and skills you have learned while having fun. • Swimming. Enjoy the swimming area and dock. Swim tests will be conducted the first day. • Ultimate Frisbee. A fast-paced Frisbee sport. • Compass Course. Learn the basic compass skills by navigating from one point to the next.

Participate in activities that develop an awareness of individuals with disabilities.

BB Shooting

Shoot BB Guns on the range built just for Cub Scouts. Trained instructors teach this adventure.

Tools are fun & making things can be great! Learn the proper use of tools and leave with an item you make.

Cast Away

An adventure with fire building, tent pitching, and the use of knots. Cook a meal over a campfire.

Earth Rocks

Learn about Earth’s deepest secrets: rocks, minerals, fossils, and how they are formed.

Engineer

Make a catapult, learn about electricity, find out what engineers do, discover the physics of block and tackle pulleys in action.

Into The Woods

Explore the woods to identify trees and plants. Learn about forestry and how to judge the age of a tree.

Into The Wild

Discover the wonder of nature at Scoutland. Participate in a nature project, learn about birds, snakes and bugs.

GENERAL INFORMATION SCOUTLAND ADVENTURE CAMP • You will be taking a swim test as part of the check-in process. This means everyone (youth and adult) will get wet. Please come prepared. If any Scout should not participate in water activities, parents should attach a letter to his/her Medical and Health Form stating why. • Guest meals available for visitors for $6 at Scoutland Adventure Camp. Money is collected at camp during check-in. • Meal tickets, campsite assignments, and activity location list will be distributed at check-in. • T-shirts, patches and schedules for overnight camps will be distributed at the Parents/Leaders meeting. This meeting is usually held on the first night of camp. • A Trading Post and Snack Shack is available to accommodate your souvenir and sweet tooth needs. • A staff member will inspect your campsite before you may leave. FAMILY CAMPING WEEKENDS • At the Summer Family Camping Weekend only, you will be taking a swim test as part of the check-in process. This means everyone (youth and adult) will get wet. Please come prepared.
