Embracing Your Niche. Inside the pages of this Magazine are collaborative efforts of several incredible individuals that have found their niche and are changing the world with their gifts. From photographers that see the world for its true potential to stylists and public figures that contribute to the way we communicate, connect and Get Image Ready, it is an honor to personally acknowledge each of them for dedicating their resources to our annual events embracing both philanthropy and inner and outer beauty! One thing that has given me tremendous satisfaction in my career as a television host and producer in the Valley is that I have been able to share the stories of literally thousands of business entrepreneurs. Whether they are copy writers, hair dressers, designers, party planners, physicians or personal chefs, what I love most of all is seeing people passionately investing in others while in pursuit of their own dreams. And it is in that same spirit that every Get Image Ready event serves our community. Firstly, we serve our community by donating to philanthropic platforms; secondly we serve our clients by helping them build their professional & personal brands; and thirdly we

serve our partners through collaborative, team-spirited promotion! I learned several years ago that my personal niche was to pioneer innovative and targeted advertising campaigns to spotlight the Design & Lifestyle community. Most recently that has expanded to include the launch of Valley’s first On Demand HD Design & Lifestyle Channel featuring locally produced shows such as Fine Wine & Design, Healthy U, The Image Home Improvement Show in collaboration with Cox Communications – and promoted locally on and through platforms including The Oprah Winfrey Network, A&E, HGTV, AMC, Clear Channel Radio Phoenix, Green Living Magazine, Reach Local, The Arizona United States Pageant System, BarrettJackson Scottsdale 2012 and Get Image Ready. Through these platforms, it is my desire to dedicate every Digital TV, Radio, Print & Event Program I produce to the service of our community, our clients and our partners; that through a connection, a story or beautiful photograph each of us will embrace our niche, and use our gifts to grow and flourish.

Crusader Joey Ogburn Saves Valley Horses “Whenever I feel exhausted all I have to do is walk out to my paddock and be greeted by 20 sets of eyes that have taught me so much about life, how to live, and what it means to know our purpose here on earth!” Photograph by David Lloyd

Joey Ogburn Founder, Luv Shack Ranch Volunteer, Reigning Grace Ranch www.reigninggraceranch.org

7 1/2 years ago Joey and her husband Greg Ogburn founded the LUV Shack Ranch Horse Rescue. Having served as Founder, President, Youth Program Coordinator and Chief Volunteer, she recently resigned from the Rescue’s Board to take up Rescuing, Rehabilitating and ReHousing Horses at Reigning Grace Ranch in New River with Amanda & Christopher Moore - where she credits God for helping her Change the World One Horse, One Child at a Time. Get Image Ready (GIR) Where did the passion for your horse rescuing and crusade come from? Did you grow up around horses? 4 GET IMAGE READY

Ogburn: “The passion originally came from my Mom. This amazing woman would rescue and save anything (dogs, cats, birds) and so I grew up with a passion for animals and a heart to serve (thanks Mom!)

Get Image Ready (GIR) What affected you into taking action?

We lived in Indiana when I was growing up and when I was 3 my father gave my mom a Quarter Horse. Every minute I could spare I was in the barn often pretending I was in the “Wild West” riding my very own Mustang through the desert.

Ogburn: “My journey began 8 years ago when I attended an auction, VERY excited to see my first Mustang. I turned the corner hoping to purchase a pregnant Mustang mare or a mare & foal to take home and begin training. What I saw when I got there however was devastating and horrifying! They had separated all of the foals, no matter the age and sent the mares to slaughter.

Then one day visited my grandparents in Arizona and I was SOLD. I knew I would live here one day.

I took home three foals that day; the youngest being only 5 days old and that’s when I decided to start my own rescue.

I literately, cried crocodile tears the first time I rode my own personal horse in the Arizona Desert! It was a dream come true!

Get Image Ready (GIR) Ranch land is valuable and expensive, some people might call you crazy for doing this, what would you say to

that? This dream of yours to save horses is a noble cause, there can’t be much money in it, why do you do it?

everyone to have an opportunity to feel the power of a horse, to allow them to teach us how to live in the moment and heal brokenness…”

Ogburn: “I have not been paid in 7 ½ years and I don’t regret a minute of it! I have dedicated my life to a purpose that I feel was given to me by God. He is my strength. Maybe someday I will be paid for what I LOVE to do, however that is NOT what drives me.

Get Image Ready (GIR) Can you tell us about Reigning Grace Ranch? How are you helping horses and what can people do to get involved or help?

What drives me are the desperate, broken, starved horses that we pick up, bring home and pour love into…and the kids and adults who come and volunteer just to take the focus off of their own broken lives. It doesn’t matter if you are religious, spiritual, black, white, rich or poor, tall, skinny, pleasantly plump, horses don’t see any of that. They read your heart and know your intent. It isn’t a noble cause, but MY purpose is simple: I want

Ogburn: “To adopt a horse from us ,we first visit where you plan to house the horse. If housing is approved, we then check references and enroll you in educational programs designed to help build a strong partnership between you and your new four legged partner. We are also starting a foster program, which allows us to rescue more horses and provide the foster with a tax deduction. We also work with 7 miniature horses who have been placed with trainers to

become therapy horses. These minis travel with us to places like Veteran Hospitals, Children’s Crisis Centers and homeless shelters to bring joy to several lives. All in all, we have 52 horses, some are permanent and used for our children’s programs, a couple are in foster care and others are in rehabilitation. People can help by donating: time, talent and of course money. GIR

NEW Lifestyle Pavilion Rocks

Barret-Jackson’s Scottsdale 2012 By Jennifer Jackson Just next door to the main auction block of Barrett-Jackson stood the 13,000 square foot Lifestyle Pavilion, the newest venue addition to BarrettJackson Scottsdale. Rock Me Arizona, partnered with Barrett-Jackson for the Lifestyle Pavilion, and hosted seven days and nights of luxury lifestyle events for 2012, thrilling crowds and spectators that were looking for something more than the usual car show. Photograph by Rizalde Sherwood It’s an interesting story how the Lifestyle Pavilion came about. Basically, I had just come off doing my first ever BarrettJackson event in 2010 with Catwalk-fora-Cause, which was a huge succes. I was at the Phoenix Open a week later with the Ops Manger of Barrett-Jackson doing what most people do at the Open, not watching golf! Anyway, he said, hey what about doing a weeks worth of events next year

Photograph by Steve Trujillo Photograph by Steve Trujillo

and I replied, “awesome, let’s do it!”, but not really thinking too much would come from it. However, a few days later I received a call from the VP of Barrett-Jackson who said, “ I heard you were going to do a week’s worth of events next year, can u send me the schedule?” This was one of the defining moments in my career because I could have stuck to doing just our one event, but after a split second I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity so I said, “Sure, I’ll have the schedule draft to you next week!”

Fast forward many months and the Lifestyle Pavilion was resurrected over the only place it would fit which was jokingly called “Lake Craig”. To insiders this was a nice name to call the drainage ditch next to the bathrooms. I was worried about this location because it literally is a ditch which floods every time it rains. We had to install an 8ft tall platform just to build the actual pavilion so it would be high enough off the ground in case it rained. We actually considered filling up the drainage ditch and having the first ever waterfront property at West World.

Photograph by Rizalde Sherwood

Photograph by Rizalde Sherwood

That was a funny thought that didn’t happen of course, but the structure turned out amazing. The new Lifestyle Pavilion hosted events for fashionistas and foodies alike with glittering gowns, flashy

chef demonstrations, luxury vendors, boutiques and millions in fine jewelry. It also hosted a full day of family activies with a kids fashion show on Family Values Day and the first ever pet fashion show. For our signature event, Catwalk-fora-Cause, we wanted to do something totally new and different. 2011 was about reflecting on the BarrettJackson 40 year anniversary, so 2012 we wanted to reflect on the future of Barrett-Jackson. For this we put on the West Coast’s first ever 3D fashion show. It was an ambitous goal since the technology was new to us and even more-so since we synched the live show with the pre-shot 3D version. It took an enourmous effort on everyone’s part but we pulled it off! We were very honored for Jordin Sparks to preform live at this event and gave the crowd a treat with an intimate performance. It would be tough to choose a favorite event since there were great elements to each of them. “The International” not only had fabulous food and fashion but also an amazing performance by the US Color Guard along with Restless Hearts music video “HOME”. “Icing: The Million Dollar Diamond and Dessert Show” had a spectacular show of gorgeous gowns from Roxanne’s Formal Wear along with litterally millions of dollars of jewelry from Molina Fine Jewelry. If all of this sounds decadent for the ladies, we certainly didn’t forget the guys with “FUEL Your Senses”, where we brought in a basketball hoop courtesy of the Phoenix Suns for guests to shoot hoops while sampling delicious fare. Of course the ladies did participate and had a lot of fun making baskets in high heels!

Photograph by Steve Trujillo

Each one of our events also had a charity beneficiary. So, not only did guests get to attend great events but they also were supporting a worthwhile cause. At the end of the day, it was by far, the most intense compilation of back-to-back events that we’ve ever accomplished but the Rock Me Team made it happen! I’m so proud to be a part of Barrett-Jackson history and of the incredible team that made this dream a reality. Jennifer Jackson (“JJ”), President Rock Me Arizona Events

Caring in Action By Patti Council What makes the Arizona United States Pageant system different from other pageant systems? The primary reason we are unique is our commitment to empowering and encouraging young ladies to get out into their communities and GIVE BACK! Our pageant system offers a forum for girls and women of all ages to either gain support and awareness for a charitable cause that is already near and dear to them or they can get involved with the many projects we have going on throughout the year and find a charity they are passionate about. The 2012 AZ United States queens: 38 GET IMAGE READY

Lauren Ellie Mendoza - Little Miss Arizona, Dominique Oliver - Preteen Arizona, Maddie Rose Holler - Junior Teen Arizona, Kelly Seiberlich - Miss Teen Arizona, Rachel Dyckman - Miss Arizona, Ashley Dickerson - Ms Arizona and Nicole Flesner - Mrs. Arizona, will not only enjoy the celebrity status that being one of our titleholders brings, they will also volunteer hundreds of hours throughout their reign with numerous charitable organizations all across the state of Arizona and will encourage others to do the same. Caring In Action! For many years, one of the special awards that has

been present during the crowning portion of our pageant is the Spirit of Pageantry Award. This award is a director’s choice award going to the one contestant that exemplifies the true spirit of Pageantry. In our system, that is someone that embraces our philsophy and commitment to giving back. In addition to this award, we will now also be recognizing another contestant that goes above and beyond in the area of service. When volunteer opportunities are sent out to city and state titleholders, these two ladies are always the first to respond and first to serve. The winners of the 2012 Spirit of

Pageantry Award is Jessica Roberts and the winner of the Caring In Action award is Monica Charnel Payne. What exactly does Caring In Action mean? We believe that all of us care about what’s happening in the world around us. There are so many people in need and we all hope for a better future for all of them. Caring In Action takes caring to the next level. It’s getting out there and making a difference. It’s rolling up the pageant sleeves and not being afraid of getting dirty for a good cause. We pack food that gets shipped to third world countries, we walk for charitable causes, we volunteer at gala events, we visit the VA Hospital and hand out flags,

visit with veterans and encourage the staff, we collect clothing for those in need, we ship toys to the troops, we make bears for ChildHelp and make blankets for the Crisis Nursery. There is no job too small or no project too large if we’re helping someone less fortunate. We have broken the mold for what the general public believes ‘pageantry’ is all about. We hope you’ll join us in getting out and making a difference. One person CAN create positive changes and make the lives of others better. Sometimes it’s nothing more than living everyday with a “Pay It Forward” attitude. Help a young mother or elderly person by opening a door, give a kind word to an over-worked

or overly-stressed clerk, pay for the car behind you at a drive through, donate blood, or join in on a walk for a worthy cause. If you want to get involved with our queens and city titleholders in all of the good work they are doing, please contact us and we’ll tell you how to get involved. Or for more information on how you can compete in the 2012 Arizona United States Pageant and participate as a titleholder, visit our website at: www.
