Characters: Rose (18)- senior in high school, flighty, growing pains, imaginative and full of life. Emily (17)- Rose’s best friend, chill, is there an opposite of senioritis? she’s the antithesis of that. EXT. LIBERTY BELL CENTER- DAYTIME Rose and Emily sit outside where the liberty bell is. Emily is eager, bright eyed, she’s never seen the infamous bell before. Truthfully she doesn’t even know why it’s infamous. ROSE (indifferent) The Liberty Bell is fake. It’s just a replica. EMILY (taken aback) You’re the one who said I had t o see it. ROSE Yeah I know. Doesn’t mean I don’t want something to believe in. The two sit in silence for a moment, a comforting reconsider. CUT TO TITLE CARD: Outgrowing My Shoes The beginning shots will be in a montage esque style. To properly picture it I see it as the projector where the pictures rotate as you click it, will correspond with her beginning voice over. ROSE V.O. Stills of different areas of people ie just hands, outfits, etc. At 18 I had a crush on a handful of people Bursts of coffee shops in Philly lived through a rotation of coffee shops. Different apartments across different areas

At least five different homes Pictures of people smiling with their permits/licenses Seen most of my friends get their licenses A collection of shoes bought more shoes than I ever remembered buying. ROSE And said goodbye without knowing it. CUT TO: (Age 10, goldfish dying) Rose, looking at a fish bowl. Inside is a dead fish floating towards the top. She is holding a spoon as if to get it out, looking disgusted. (Age 11, realizing the tooth fairy wasn’t real) Rose is asleep in her bed, the door opens, footsteps are heard, she shifts opening her eyes as her mom reaches under her pillow. ROSE Mom, are you stealing my tooth? Her eyes fall to the dollar in her hand.

(Age 12, running away from home) Close up on Rose’s hands as she cuts a photo. The photo is of her and her parents and she cuts her dad out of the photo before being left just with the photo of her and her mom. Rose pulls out a suitcase and lays it on her bed, and begins putting in items. Suitcase w/ labeled sections ie “bag of goldfish” “two copies of the boxcar kids” and “a furby” very useless items. She zips it up and opens the door, she gets a block before she turns around and goes back inside. (Age 13, first date) JAMES Smiling at Rose I had fun.

ROSE Yeah me too. He leans to kiss her, Rose moves her face aside. ROSE JAMES Oh I’m not/ Uh did you (without knowing it) ROSE JAMES Yeah… that was fun I have to/ me too! (Age 14, first kiss) Emily and Rose sit on Emily’s bed reading magazines. EMILY Like I don’t even want to look like them. I just want to dress like them… they just always look so perfect. ROSE I mean they are models. They probably go through 20 outfits per take. EMILY You think so? ROSE Uh huh. They look at each other, Emily putting the magazine down as she kisses Rose. it’s abrupt, quick, she stares at her. The two begin laughing.

(Age 15, first period) Rose is dancing with Emily, the two are giggling and overall having fun, Emily stops, noticing a red splotch on Rose’s pants. EMILY Oh, Rose… ROSE WhLooks down.

Emily doesn’t say anything simply grabs a pad from her bag and hands it to her. EMILY I have some pants. Rose leaves in pants very much not hers, embarrassed. (Age 16, grocery shopping alone) Rose goes to the grocery store, she picks out random things. Strawberries, icecream, egg salad, nothing that could actually go together. She’s getting older, but not that old. (Age 17, joined every club to look good for colleges) Rose in clubs such as GSA, student council, etc. (Age 18, Last Day Of Highschool) Rose walks up to locker, pulling her backpack out. The locker is empty, she smiles, looks down at shoes. Begins walking out. ROSE V.O. my favorite pair of shoes Rose and Emily throw the pair of shoes over a powerline. They walk away together. Shot of a powerline on a street in Philadelphia, on it Rose’s shoes she’s outgrown are knotted and slung over it. ROSE V.O. I just hope that when I’m older, and looking back at Philadelphia, it’ll glance back at me.
