Tbilisis sastumro Holiday Inn-ma evropis iurist
The hotel “Holliday Inn” on Tbilisi hosted the 42nd assembly of presidents of the international association of students-lawyers. The summit gathered 45 delegates from 23 countries of Europe. Giorgi Kvitashvili, rector of Tbilisi State University, and Giorgi Avaliani, first deputy minister of sports and youth affairs, opened the important international event. The main goal of that youth summit was to bring together Georgian students and European youth and familiarize the latter with the ongoing reforms in Georgia, its national culture and tourism opportunities. Said Irakli Samkharadze, President of Elsa-Georgia, “The summit provided an excellent opportunity to acquaint as many as possible foreign students with Georgia’s rich culture, ancient traditions and our country’s beautiful nature. They have learned about reforms in the national judicial system. For this purpose, each day of the agenda was saturated by working groups, academic and social programs allowing the participants to comprehend Georgia better.” Giorgi Avaliani: “The summit gave the Georgian youth the opportunity of sharing their ideas and considerations with their coevals, seek and establish many new international contacts and to be represented at the international podium. Close relations with European colleagues will contribute to the popularization of Georgia in Europe and accelerate the process of Euro-integration.” The young lawyers conducted meetings in several Georgian state agencies, including Ministry of Justice, Supreme Court and Administration of the President of Georgia. The summit elaborated an annual action plan for coordination and development of the association. The summit helped the Georgian youth to become better informed about experience of judicial and other agencies of Europe. Georgian students established connections with their European colleagues. Irakli Samkharadze, president of Elsa-Georgia, was elected as vice-president in charge of exchange programs in Europe’s association of students-lawyers.
