Professional Draft History BULLDOG DRAFT FAST FACTS

The Bulldogs have a string of 39 straight seasons with at least one player signing a professional contract. In 2010, four players were drafted and began their professional career. The University of Georgia led the nation in 2009 with 11 players selected in the draft. 2011 MLB Draft Flashback

Zach Cone was selected by the Texas Rangers with the 37th overall pick of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. Cone and his teammates were watching and listening to the draft as they boarded a charter plane in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bulldogs were coming back from an NCAA Regional in Corvallis, Ore. Cone, a 6-2, 202-pound native of Stone Mountain, Ga., was a third round pick coming out of Parkview High School in 2009. Cone was a three-year starter for the Bulldogs and hit .317 with 18 home runs and 106 RBI in his career. Cone was named to the 2011 SEC All-Defensive team, fielding a school record 1.000 in 161 total chances including five assists. He owns the school record for highest career fielding percentage by an outfielder at .997. He made just one error in 318 total chances and tallied 16 assists.
