Language of Instruction: Spanish Program Description: The Universidad del Salvador is a prestigious institution with fifty years of experience in providing the students with an integral and personalized education. Students from around the world come to USAL to begin or further their studies. The Spanish as a Second Language courses are taught by experienced language instructors who are also specialists in Argentina and Latin American literature and culture. They use modern and effective techniques, providing students with a comfortable and productive learning environment. The Spanish as a Second Language Intensive Course, The CIE in Spanish, is an intensive four-week program that has been developed for those who wish to study not only the language in a Spanishspeaking country, but also its history, culture and social aspects. This course guarantees the acquisition of the language through numerous activities, including written, oral and audio-visual exercises as well as arranged trips. The program seeks to develop communicative skills in different situations as well as to familiarize students about Argentine culture through the use of numerous complementary activities both inside and outside of the classroom. There are three levels: Elementary, Lower Intermediate and Upper Intermediate. Students are assigned to a level based on a placement test which is administered at the beginning of the program. ARGENTINA Environmental Conflicts and Initiatives in Latin America Country: Argentina Location: Buenos Aires Campus: SUNY Geneseo Term(s): Winter Language of Instruction: English Program Description: This program provides an introduction to environmental issues in Latin America by outlining the historical, political and socioeconomic forces that have driven environmental change in the region. This will provide context for a first-hand examination of urban environmental issues in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. Students will travel to Buenos Aires for two weeks during the January intersession. Through on-site analysis of issues related to air and water quality, housing, nutrition, public health, municipal waste disposal, and the preservation of open space, students will develop an appreciation and understanding of the environmental problems and challenges facing large Latin American urban areas. Eligibility Requirements: Students must be in good academic standing with an acceptable disciplinary record. Credits: 3 undergraduate Application Deadline: October 15

Summer in Argentina Country: Argentina Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina Campus: SUNY Purchase Term(s): Summer (June 4 - June 25) Language of Instruction: English Program Description: Even if you don’t speak Spanish, this intensive program, based in the capital city of Buenos Aires, gives you the opportunity to explore contemporary Argentinean society, politics and culture. This is a three weeks course of experiential learning, social engagement, and aesthetic appreciation. In the classrooms of the prestigious Institute of Social and Economic Development (IDES) you will understand the history of the so-called dirty war (19761983) where roughly 30,000 people disappeared by the military dictatorship, and how Argentinean society has dealt, and still deals today with that political, economic and cultural legacy. Summer in Argentina Country: Argentina Location: Buenos Aires Campus: SUNY Oswego Term(s): Summer Language of Instruction: English and Spanish Program Description: SUNY Oswego's study abroad program in Argentina with CAPA Buenos Aires Study Center hosted at Universidad Austral, a small private university in the heart of Buenos Aires. Students enroll in two courses for a total of six credits. Students have the opportunity to study Spanish while taking courses in art history, business, economics, history, international relations, literature, journalism, politics, and sociology, all of which are taught in English. The six-week semester program is open to students of all language abilities. Students will reside with host families.
