THE HCG DIET by Dr. Scott Blyer The HCG diet has gained national exposure, this year more than ever before. Loosing 0.5 - 2 pounds per day and keeping it off- sounds too good to be true? It is not. This diet does work. Unfortunately there are people who try to capitalize on people’s naiveté and exploit this diet for their financial benefit. Medical grade HCG is a controlled substance only available with a prescription from a physician. In health food stores and online, HCG is made available to the public. The HCG being sold here is misleading in that it is not medical grade HCG. This is homeopathic HCG. This is the only way these companies can sell to the public without violating federal and state laws. The true amount of HCG contained in homeopathic drops is untraceable. It is the equivalent of filling a tub of water and putting one drop of HCG in it. Homeopathic HCG does not work. Medical grade HCG should only be administered with an experienced physicians’ supervision. If this diet is administered properly, it is a safe and effective method of weight loss. Some of the benefits of HCG are the suppression of one’s appetite, a rebooting of your metabolism, cravings diminished, the metabolism of fat and maintained weight loss. Weight loss is a billion dollar industry and the increasing number of obese Americans is staggering. The HCG diet is a viable option and should be considered for those struggling with weight loss of 10 pounds and up. It should be considered before options of lap band, bypass or other surgical interventions. I am glad to hear the FDA has stepped in to help regulate this market. • Dr. Scott Blyer
