Kalau mengikuti pandangan sutradara komedi legendaris Billy Wilder, German Cinema edisi tahun ini akan menghadapi masa yang sulit. Sekarang tahun 2019 dan festival film Jerman di Indonesia ini memasuki tahun ketujuh, tahun yang konon penuh tantangan dan masalah – tetapi meskipun begitu, tidak ada tanda-tanda bahwa hubungan yang telah terjalin akan goyah. Justru sebaliknya: German Cinema meyakinkan publiknya tahun ini dengan keanekaragaman, dengan sebuah ulang tahun, dan dengan sebuah fokus mini. Tiga puluh tahun silam, pada 1989, Tembok Berlin dirobohkan dan pada gilirannya memicu keruntuhan satu sistem secara keseluruhan. Sejak itu, masa seputar titik balik tersebut menjadi tema penting, termasuk di dunia film. Dalam rangka peringatan 30 tahun diruntuhkannya Tembok Berlin, pada 2019 ini kami menghadirkan tiga buah film yang dengan cara berbeda-beda mengungkapkan kehidupan di Jerman Timur dan Barat pada masa itu: Film thriller bertempo tinggi Ballon karya Michael “Bully” Herbig, adaptasi film yang atmosferis dari novel Adam & Evelyn, serta biografi pembuat lagu Gundermann – yang menang besar di Penghargaan Film Jerman 2019 dengan meraih 10 nominasi dan 6 penghargaan. Film unggulan pada Festival Film Jerman 2018, 3 Tage in Quiberon mengenai aktris Romy Schneider, juga termasuk dalam program dan menjadi satu dari dua film fokus mini Contemporary Black and White. 3 Tage in Quiberon dan Fritz Lang samasama menyajikan potret tokoh film menonjol pada abad ke-20 dan melakukannya dengan cara yang mengesankan dari segi artistik melalui gambar hitam-putih yang fantastis. Ginge es nach dem legendären KomödienRegisseur Billy Wilder stünde es schwierig um die diesjährige Ausgabe von German Cinema. Wir schreiben 2019 und befinden uns mitten im verflixten siebten Jahr des deutschen Filmfestivals in Indonesien – aber von Beziehungsschwierigkeiten keine Spur. Im Gegenteil: German Cinema überzeugt sein Publikum in diesem Jahr mit großer Vielfalt, einem Jubiläum, und einem MiniFokus.

Vor dreißig Jahren, 1989, fiel die Berliner Mauer und brachte damit letztendlich ein ganzes System zum Einsturz. Die Zeiten dieser Wende sind auch im Film seither ein bedeutendes Thema. Anlässlich des 30-jährigen Jubiläums des Mauerfalls zeigen wir 2019 drei Filme, die auf ganz unterschiedliche Weise Einblicke geben in das Leben zwischen Ost- und Westdeutschland in jenen Jahren: Michael „Bully“ Herbigs rasanten Thriller Ballon, die atmosphärische Romanverfilmung Adam & Evelyn und die Liedermacher-Biographie Gundermann – mit 10 Nominierungen und 6 Preisen der große Gewinner beim Deutschen Filmpreis 2019. If legendary comedy director Billy Wilder had his way, this year’s edition of German Cinema would be a difficult one. It's 2019 and the seventh year of the German Film Festival in Indonesia should be itching – but no trace of relationship problems. On the contrary: German Cinema is convincing its audience this year with great diversity, an anniversary, and a mini-focus. Thirty years ago, in 1989, the Berlin Wall came down and eventually a whole system collapsed. The times of this major turning point have also been an important topic in film ever since. In 2019, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, we are presenting three films that offer insights into life between East and West Germany in those years from very different perspectives: Michael "Bully" Herbig's fast-paced thriller Balloon, the atmospheric novel adaptation Adam & Evelyn and the singer-songwriter biography Gundermann – with 10 nominations and 6 awards the big winner at the German Film Award 2019. The resounding winner of the German Film Award 2018, 3 Days in Quiberon about actress Romy Schneider, is also featured in this year’s program and is one of two films of the mini-focus Contemporary Black and White. 3 Days in Quiberon and Fritz Lang both portray an outstanding film personality of the 20th century and do so in artistically impressive manner in fantastic black and white shots. German Cinema brings two highly topical documentaries, Exit - Leaving Extremism Behind and The Cleaners to the big screen, and has many audience favourites in store, including the road trip comedy 25km/h, the youth film Mountain Miracle and the touching family story All About Me, the most-visited film in German cinemas in the past year.
