The Financial Literacy Curriculum in the United States must become a National Priority. This is a serious issue which needs to be handled sooner rather than later. The United States Government established the Office of Financial Education in 2002; and Congress established the Financial Literacy & Education Commission as a crucial part of the Financial Literacy and Education Improvement Act in 2003. The Financial Literacy and Education Commission formed its National Strategy on Financial Literacy in 2006. The JumpStart Coalition has been one of the largest advocates of financial literacy in this country since as early as 1995. While multiple U.S. agencies advocate and/or promote the financial literacy movement, they often contradict on their definitions of the term financial capability. In a report from the U.S. Financial Literacy Advisory Council, the Council Members asked for a universal definition of financial literacy by which financial literacy education curriculum can be judged.
