En este nuevo número os presentaremos nuestro club infantil-juvenil, el Kids Club de Garden Center Navarro, este Club se ha desarrollado dentro de nuestra vocación por el entretenimiento educativo y por acercar el mundo de las plantas y el medio ambiente a niños y jóvenes. En el que se desarrollaran talleres y se harán sorteos, concursos y muchas cosas más que podrás descubrir en el interior de este número. HUERTO URBANO ecologico Ecological urban garden qué plantar, 7ª parte what to plant, Part 7
L
as especies de hortalizas que podemos plantar son numerosas, todo depende del espacio del que dispongamos, de nuestros gustos culinarios y de la época del año en la que nos encontremos. Es difícil querer tener tomates en pleno enero ya que se trata de una hortaliza perteneciente a la familia de las Solanáceas, es decir, amantes del sol. Salvo que nos encontremos en el litoral mediterráneo y tengamos un buen invernadero. También es importante decidir que cantidad planto de cada especie teniendo en cuenta el consumo que vamos a hacer de ella y lo que esta es capaz de producir en este tipo de cultivo. Recuerda que a nivel nutricional es muy recomendable comer lo más variado posible y aunque están pensando en plantar sólo tomates, que te encantan tanto como a mi, ten tu huerto una gran variedad de especies hortícolas. Así también estaremos educando el paladar de nuestros hijos a los que estaremos acostumbrando desde pequeños a infinidad de sabores, texturas y colores. La variedad de especies resulta imprescindible en un huerto ecológico ya que nos facilita el crear, en nuestro pequeño ecosistema agrícola, una gran biodiversidad. Asociación de cultivos En un ciclo se siembran dos o más tipos de hortalizas, con el propósito de mantener la fertilidad de la tierra y protegerse mutuamente de parásitos. Como ejemplo nos puede servir el caso de la zanahoria y el puerro que se repelen
mutuamente sus respectivas moscas. También asociamos hortalizas de diferentes ciclos de desarrollo para aprovechar al máximo el terreno por ejemplo, lechugas en medio de coles. Hay una asociación de origen andino con más de 7000 años en la que se sembraba maíz y cuando este alcanzaba unos 25-30 cm se sembraba a su pie frijol (leguminosa) y al nacimiento de este se sembraba calabaza. El maíz es una planta consumidora de nutrientes y el frijol fija en sus raíces nitrógeno atmosférico, al mismo tiempo que le planta de maíz le sirve de tutor al frijol. Por último la calabaza cubría totalmente el suelo de la parcela con lo que apenas aparecían hierbas. Inteligente ¿verdad? Rotación de cultivos Consiste en ir alternando los diferentes cultivos según sus necesidades nutricionales, su sistema radicular y su familia botánica con el fin de mantener la fertilidad del suelo en óptimos valores. Por ejemplo después de tomate (gran consumidor de nutrientes) plantar habas y/o guisantes, dos leguminosas que fijan el nitrógeno atmosférico y queda en el suelo siempre que dejemos sus raíces enterradas para que se descompongan. he vegetable species we can plant are numerous, it all depends on the available space, our culinary taste and the time of year in which we want to cultivate. It’s hard to want to have tomatoes in the middle of January because it is a vegetable belonging to the Solanaceae family (Sun lovers), unless we are at the Mediterranean coast or have a good greenhouse. It is also important to decide how much of each species we plant considering how much we consume and how much the crop is capable of producing in this type of cultivation.

Remember that at nutritional level it is highly recommended to eat as varied as possible and although we are only thinking of planting tomatoes, because you love them just as much as I do, keep your garden with a variety of horticultural species. In this way we will also be educating the taste buds of our children who will be accustomed from childhood to countless flavors, textures and colors. The variety of species is essential in an organic garden and facilitates us to create our own small agricultural ecosystem, rich in biodiversity. Crop Association In one cycle we plant two or more kinds of vegetables, for the purpose of maintaining
soil fertility and to protect each other from parasites. For example, carrot and leek can repel their respective flies from each other. We can also associate different vegetables in different development cycles to maximize field use, e.g. lettuce amid cabbages. There is an association of Andean origin of more than 7000 years ago in which they grew corn and when this reached about 25-30 cm at its base kidney beans (legume) were planted. After the beans started to grow pumpkin was sown in between. Corn is a nutrient consuming plant and kidney beans fixes atmospheric nitrogen in its roots. At the same time the corn plant serves as a support to the beans. Pumpkin finally completely covers the ground of the plot thus limiting drastically weed growth. Isn’t that smart? Crop rotation It consists of alternating different crops according to their nutritional needs, their root system and its botanical family in order to maintain optimum soil fertility values. For example after tomato (large consumer of nutrients) planting beans and/ or peas, two legumes that fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil as long as we let their roots buried to decompose.

a ajedrea es una pequeña mata, tiesa y áspera al tacto, leñosa solo en la base y con las ramas herbáceas cubiertas de pequeños pelitos blancos. Las flores son blancas. Florece a partir del mes de junio y continúa durante todo el verano y parte del otoño. De la recolección interesan las hojas y la sumidad florida. El sabor de las hojas en crudo es ligeramente picante. Acompaña muy bien con sopas y carnes. Está indicada en problemas de inapetencia, atonía gastrointestinal,

espasmos gastrointestinales, meteorismo, dolores de estómago, bronquitis y en uso externo sirve asimismo para curar heridas y para calvicie incipiente. Infusión: Una cucharada de postre por taza. Las hojas deben estar bien desmenuzadas antes de añadirlas al agua hirviendo. Se toma una taza después de las comidas. Tradicionalmente se ha utilizado para aderezar olivas y en la preparación de algunos tipos de embutido. Precaución:No usar durante el embarazo

Kids Club es el club infantil-juvenil de Garden Center Navarro. Este Club se ha desarrollado dentro de nuestra vocación por el entretenimiento educativo y por acercar el mundo de las plantas y el medio ambiente a niños y jóvenes, fomentando las relaciones sociales y la creatividad. Las comunicaciones sobre las diferentes actividades se harán previamente por medio de mailings personalizados, en nuestra web y a través de nuestro magazine. Un sábado al mes se realizan gran variedad de actividades lúdico-educativas, tales como talleres, manualidades, experimentos, juegos, velas vegetales, huerto ecológico, repostería artesanal, comederos para pájaros, refugios para animales, pomadas con plantas medicinales, nendo dango, cuidado y reproducción de plantas, etc. en todas las actividades su hijo se llevará a casa lo realizado. Los socios del club también podrán participar a lo largo de todo el año en concursos y sorteos. Las actividades del Kids Club son una buena alternativa para que nuestros hijos pasen una mañana divertida aprendiendo. Por otro lado los papás podemos aprovechar para visitar el Garden Center disfrutando de todas sus instalaciones con miles de especies naturales y su tienda donde encontraremos infinidad de artículos de jardinería, decoración y regalo. Y si tiene cuestiones sobre el cuidado de sus plantas, no dude en preguntar a nuestros técnicos, encantados le ayudarán a resolverlas. Los niños y niñas que lo deseen pueden convertirse en socios rellenando una ficha con sus datos con la firma del padre, madre y/o tutor, entregándola en nuestras instalaciones, donde la hará entrega de su tarjeta de socio.

Communications regarding the different activities will be done by personalized mailings, through our website and magazine. One Saturday a month, we will perform a variety of fun and educational activities such as workshops, crafts, experiments, games, candles, vegetables, organic garden , handmade pastries, bird feeders, animal shelters, herbal ointments, nendo dango, care and reproduction of plants, etc. . in all the activities your child will take home what it makes. Club members can also participate in contests and sweepstakes throughout the year. Children who wish to become member can do so by filling out the registration form with their personal information and the signature of a parent and/or guardian. After handing it in at the reception of our Garden Center you will be presented with your membership card.Kids Club activities are a good alternative for your children, they will spend a fun morning while learning. In the meantime the parents can visit the Garden Center and e n j o y its facilities with thousands of natural species and its shop where you can find unlimited gardening items, decorations and gifts. Unos consejos básicos para su cuidado son, que tenga mucha luz, pero no sol directo. En nuestra zona, tanto la temperatura como la humedad, son las adecuadas para su crecimiento y floración. Sabias que… … … los cactus tienen espinas por varias razones? Las espinas de los cactus son sus hojas, generalmente de color verde por la clorofila, les sirven para ofrecer una mayor superficie a los rayos solares y tienen un gran número de ellas para realizar mucho mejor la fotosíntesis. La forma de espina la han desarrollado para evitar una gran evaporación de agua, puesto que si en lugar de finas y largas, fueran anchas, el efecto de los rayos del sol también harían que se deshidrataran. Así, las plantas de zonas tropicales tienen, generalmente, hojas grandes y lustrosas, ya que la humedad es más elevada que en las zonas desérticas. Además de este fenómeno, de reducción de la hoja para evitar la pérdida, por transpiración, de la poca humedad que acumulan en las zonas desérticas, existe también un factor de defensa, puesto en los lugares donde se encuentran de manera natural, serían una gran fuente de hidratación para los animales, que de este modo no se acercan a ellas para no pincharse.
