Wade House Historic Site

Authentically costumed guides lead tours of the 27-room Stagecoach Inn, forge iron at the Dockstader Blacksmith Shop and demonstrate the sawyer’s craft at the Herrling Sawmill-the nation’s only working reproduction of a muleytype up-and-down sawmill. Visitors enjoy a relaxing horsedrawn carriage ride to the Wesley Jung Carriage Museum, featuring the state’s largest collection of horse-drawn wagons and carriages. May 19-Oct. 14. Mon.-Sat.105pm, Sun. 12-5pm. Adults $11, Sr. 65 and over $9.25, age 5-17, $5.50, 4 and under free. Family rate (2 adults and dependent children under 18) $30.

Wander through the center’s exhibits and take in the spectacular view of the local glacial landforms from the observation deck. There is also a 20-minute movie shown every half hour. The movie does a nice job explaining how the last Ice Age really impacted this area and all of Wisconsin. Open year round Mon-Fri. 8:30-4pm, Sat-Sun. 9:30-5pm. Winter hours may vary.
