laura hennessy LAST MEAL BEFORE DEATH? It would be a toss up between really great sushi or an amazing pizza. FAVORITE SPOT ON THE PLANET? Any place I’ve never been that surprises and inspires me or gives me some new perspective. BEST THING ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE? The best thing about where I currently live comes from its worst thing (In my opinion.) The dreary, wet weather is something I dislike greatly, but the stunning array of mosses that cover much of nature here couldn’t exist without all the rain. The colors and textures of the mosses are unbelievable and haven’t ceased to amaze me yet. WHEN WERE/ARE YOU AT YOUR MOST CREATIVE? When I’m not distracted by the everyday trials and tribulations of “normal” life. It’s not so much about a specific time period or physical location, but more about finding the peace of mind/ inner headspace to block things out for a bit and let creativity manifest. IDEAL SUNDAY MORNING? Sunshine, good coffee, great company, being outdoors, feeling inspired, brainstorming creative projects, walking my dogs. BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED? Be unapologetically yourself and pursue your individuality and creative passions. WHAT WAS YOUR VERY FIRST JOB? My twin sister and I worked at a walk up snack bar window at a golf course in Pebble Beach, California. We served hot dogs and sodas to wealthy golfers. We made amazing tips for being just fifteen, but came home smelling like the hundreds of hotdogs we steamed and served. We called it the “Weenie Window” back then and have laughed about that many times over the years.

LAST TRACK PLAYED ON YOUR ITUNES? “High By The Beach” by Lana Del Rey WHEN WERE/ARE YOU AT YOUR MOST CREATIVE? Usually after a morning run. I like to listen to music and let my imagination wander. IDEAL SUNDAY MORNING? The perfect Sunday morning would start with a sunrise run across the Brooklyn Bridge. That time of day is pretty magical because the bridge is fairly empty and the sun kisses the water with a dramatic orange glow. Following that I like to have a chill brunch with my husband and hang with our pug.

MOST EXTREME WEATHER CONDITION YOU EVER SHOT IN? Hurricane…almost. It was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it hit. To make matters even more intense, I was camping with a group of friends. At one point during the overnight storm four women were standing up bracing the tent in an effort to keep it and us from flying away! Despite a night that made sleep impossible the experience brought us closer together. The next morning we had sunshine, blue skies and some really strong coffee. The shoot must (and did) go on! ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE YOU? Effervescent. FAVORITE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT? @Ladyadventures. FAVORITE MAGAZINE? Rolling Stone.

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED: I’ve always remembered this (when it comes to the argument of what’s better film or digital): “No one will ever remember what it was shot on, they will remember what it was shot of; subject matter of the image”.

MOST EXTREME WEATHER CONDITION YOU EVER SHOT IN? Shooting skateboarding as a kid in the middle of a Kansas City winter was pretty rough. It would get so cold that my equipment would stop working. WHEN WERE/ARE YOU AT YOUR MOST CREATIVE? When nothing else is on my mind besides what’s in front of me and when I slow things down.

LAST MEAL BEFORE DEATH? Not sure, but it would have to include Hummus. I love it and have it every day. It will probably be my last meal, as I will probably choke on a carrot or some thing smothered in it. FAVORITE SPOT ON THE PLANET? : Bunker Bay in Western Australia, We used to go there as a kid, the water is crystal blue and there’s big boulders in the water to swim to. Whenever I return to Australia with friends from Europe I take them there, they always complain about the flies. WHAT’S YOUR POISON? Gin, any will do, but the preference is Hendricks. I love the changing light through out the day. WHEN WERE/ARE YOU AT YOUR MOST CREATIVE? Around others, I love to collaborate. I feel like my best comes out when I’m leading or am part of a team. WHAT WAS YOUR VERY FIRST JOB? In a burger joint. I wasn’t even allowed to make the burgers I was just frying fries for 8 hours at a time. It was so oily and hot I often walked away with burns, but it gave me a great work ethic and I loved being part of a crew. THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR WORK? Mood, characters, narrative.
