Mail, phone (verbal or FAX), and internet orders are accepted. We request that payment for all items be made at time of order via check or credit card, however, we do take COD orders. COD orders will be shipped via UPS, and you will be billed the current COD rate from UPS plus our $10.00 shipping and handling charge. Please have your credit card ready when placing phone orders. We accept Master Card, VISA and American Express cards; please include the type of card, account number, and expiration date when paying by credit card. Customers in Alaska and Hawaii will be charged actual shipping and insurance costs. We normally ship orders as they are received via UPS or the U.S. Mail. At your request, we will ship UPS Next Day Air or 2nd Day Air and you will be invoiced the additional shipping charges.

English-Style Gunmaker Trade Labels
Trade labels were glued to the inside covers of trunk cases by early gunmakers to identify and promote their shops. Today, these early labels are actively sought by collectors, often framed and otherwise displayed. Our trade labels are reproduced on heavy parchment style paper. Some labels are of poor quality. Some labels are very simplistic and are nothing more than wording, in most instances this is what we were able to find that the manufacturer was using. All label measurements are width x height, rounded to the nearest 1/2”. If you do not find the one you are looking for give us a call as we are continually adding to our inventory.

The Galazan™Damascus Steel Blade Fine Damascus Steel is made by an ancient process that has evolved over more than a thousand years. Our knives are crafted using Damascus Steel that is comprised of 576 alternating layers of high carbon steel and low carbon iron. Our process to make Damascus Steel starts with four strips of low carbon iron interleaved with five strips of high carbon steel. The sides of this “nine layer cake” are welded and gradually heated to 850° C, hammered to expand to a desired length, and cut in half at which point one half is put on top of the other. This new “eighteen layer cake” is heated to a particular color, hammered and cut in half and assembled into a “thirty-six layer cake.” This process continues until the old world artisans have hammered 576 layers of Damascus steel to the thickness required to make knives. Steel bars are cut to length, hand forged, hardened, tempered and finally acid etched to produce the intricate patterns seen on fine Damascus Knives.

Our butt plates are molded from the originals. They are not made of plastic or other similar inexpensive material. These hand-made butt plates are indistinguishable from the originals when properly fitted. (Spurred-style butt plates are identified in the accompanying selection chart by the gun maker name being in italics.) Many early Winchester butt plates were made of material other than plastic, while the later ones were molded of plastic. Although we do not offer a complete line of Winchester butt plates, the ones we sell to simulate “hard rubber” and the plastic ones are all duplicates of originals. Installation Tip: It is often necessary to custom fit the butt plate to your gun. The butt plate can be filed, sanded, reamed, drilled or polished similar to wood. It can also be bent to fit the contour of your stock by boiling it in water and then pressing it gently against the butt of the gun until the material hardens.
