A Message from the President Team, As is our annual tradition, we announced our 2017 Gold Club Award winners at the beginning of February. John joined G4S in 2012 after spending 12 years with the US Department of Health and Human Services, finishing as a Safety Officer. Prior to working with the US DHHS, John spent eight years working as a Safety Manager for three different organizations. John holds a Masters of Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelors in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University.

EMS Safety Services is a nationally-recognized training company and has been the leader in developing cost-effective emergency care training programs for more than 20 years. Their mission is ‘Teaching Skills for Life.’ The goal of training should be more than compliance, but rather learning, understanding and applying knowledge to each individual’s life in order to improve it and make it safer. Just like G4S, EMS Safety believes in exceptional customer service, integrity and value. In 2017, G4S employees saved more than 50 lives responding during an emergency, using the skills learned in their training courses. An Everyday Hero is someone who is well-trained and confident enough to use their life-saving skills when called upon in the community setting. G4S Team in Minneapolis Helps Protect the Big Game

In Minneapolis, the National Football League (NFL) season reached its exciting conclusion as the Philadelphia Eagles outlasted the New England Patriots 41-33, earning the first championship in franchise history. 67,612 fans piled into the stadium while an estimated million other fans descended on the city for the festivities surrounding the game.With fans expected to arrive from 130 countries worldwide, the need for experienced security was high for both the stadium and for the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee. G4S was tasked with supplying that security for the game on Sunday, as well as for Super Bowl LIVE, a 10-day festival leading up to game day, with events held across the metro area. G4S Behavior Detection Officers (BDO) and Custom Protection Officers (CPO) provided excellent coverage for both events, identifying suspicious individuals as well as preventing any major incidents from occurring at G4S covered areas. G4S CPOs provided around-the-clock coverage at the stadium before and during game day while a combination of CPOs and BDOs ensured that Super Bowl LIVE went off without a hitch. Complementing our G4S Security Officers was G4S’ Corporate Risk team, who provided executive protection for executives and VIPs. At Super Bowl LIVE our team ensured that client executives were able to attend events without an issue while during and before the game, we helped support on-air talent and client ticket locations. A special congratulations to everyone involved in this high-profile event and for delivering flawless security to all of our clients. Despite the blistering cold weather, our team responded to the needs of our clients and ensured that fans, visitors and everyone in attendance was able to enjoy the festivities in safety. Breaking Barriers As the first United States’ woman to train at the Royal Military Police Training Centre, Shellie Crandall was determined to make it count

F

or years, basketball was all Shellie Crandall knew, or even cared about. At Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Ohio, Crandall was the first woman to score 1,000 points and the school’s first four-year varsity letter-winner, leaving school as the leader in career points per game, games played, field goals, free throws, free-throw percentage, assists and steals. Following high school, she took her impressive résumé to Lakeland Community College not necessarily because she loved school, but rather because she loved basketball. And then in one fleeting moment, it was all taken away. Midway through her freshman year, as she went for a loose ball, Crandall’s left knee went in the other direction of the rest of her body, tearing her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), effectively ending her career. “The only reason I was in school was to play basketball,” says Crandall. “I really didn’t want to go to college. My parents wanted me to go and I could play basketball, so that’s why I went. Once I couldn’t play basketball, I didn’t go.” Out of college and away from basketball, Crandall bounced around odd jobs, eventually landing on the crew of a demolition company, manning the cherry picker moving steel beams from one spot to another. The same hand-eye coordination that propelled her to success on the hard court allowed Crandall to succeed as the crane operator, drawing the attention of her co-workers. “At the end of shifts, people would put a coke can on the crane and see how far I could swing it until the can fell off,” Crandall says. “They would bet money (on how far she could go).” “One time there were 50 people watching and I said, ‘what am I doing? I cannot do this the rest of my life, are you kidding?’ So the next day I walked down to the Army recruitment office and three days later I was at boot camp in Alabama.” For someone who came from small-town America, the teamwork and reliability the Army offered was something she had never experienced before. “I had never been exposed to a lot of diverse people or thoughts,” Crandall says. “I didn’t realize how others could help me, and I didn’t realize how I could add value to people. I realized that you couldn’t get through this by yourself.” Following boot camp, Crandall was deployed to Germany to serve with the Military Police. One day while walking around the camp, she saw an ad asking for volunteers to become body guards. Responding to the opportunity, Crandall found herself as the only woman interviewing for the position, but that didn’t prevent her from getting the job and joining a fellow member of the U.S. Army as the first two Americans to attend the Royal Military Police Training Centre in England. “It was intense,” says Crandall. “The U.S. Military provides a lot of safety. In England, it was more realistic.Training was ten times harder. We put a small explosive in a car, went 100 feet away behind a berm and blew

it up. The shrapnel was raining down, cutting your arms, but the lesson was, don’t miss a little piece of something because you could die.” “That never would’ve happened in the U.S. You’d have a helmet on and everything, but they wanted you to understand the impact of if you missed something like that.” The training was exhaustive, meant to push everyone to their furthest limits, potentially weeding out individuals along the way. But not Crandall. Day after day she pushed herself on, determined to finish.Then, just one week from graduation, much like in college, a knee injury threatened to sideline it all. Part of the training was to carry half of a telephone pole, running miles at a time with three people carrying the pole and others rotating in. Needless to say, it was difficult, another opportunity to test each person’s will to continue. Then during one of the final rounds of training, Crandall felt a sharp pain in her right knee. But she knew the stakes, so she pressed on.Later that day, her group was running drills in the city when they stopped for tea. Finally, Crandall had a chance to sit down, but as she tried to pull her pant leg up over her knee, she couldn’t get it above the joint because of how swollen it had Shellie Crandall at work at G4S headquarters in Jupiter, Fl. become. Eventually she said something to her commander, and at the hospital she found out not only had she tore a ligament but she also had a blood clot, requiring emergency surgery. After the surgery, her provost came to offer his apologies, wishing her a speedy recovery. The next day however, was a different story. “He came in and said, ‘if you aren’t out of here by three o’clock we’re sending you home.’ So I got the other American to come and get me, literally carry me out of the hospital.” Crandall completed the final week of training, graduated and was put on an assignment to protect multiple generals, including the Commander of the U.S. in Europe, allowing the girl from small-town America to see the world. Now, with G4S, Crandall serves as Senior Vice President of Product Development for CASH360, but finds her military experience is never far from mind. “The attention and respect, everyone [at G4S] is so proud of veterans, it made me say I want to join this company. It made me proud. ”

G4S’ team in Dallas. In January, Dallas and Philadelphia donated an estimated $600 worth of warm clothing to organizations in their local areas to support those in need.

As the bitter cold of winter continues to deliver freezing temperatures across the United States, getting warm and staying warm can be difficult. Whether it’s getting warm clothing or getting inside, it can be a challenge to fight the cold. With this in mind, G4S offices in Philadelphia and Dallas are doing what they can to lend a helping hand. During January, both offices combined to donate an estimated $600 worth of warm clothing to those in need. The Philadelphia office donated their goods to the One Warm Coat Project, a non-profit organization that works to provide free coats to anyone in need. Annually, the organization donates close to 600,000 coats with more than 3,500 coat drives held throughout the United States. In Dallas, the local team donated warm clothing to the Union Gospel Mission, a charitable organization providing meals, education, housing and other services to those in need in cities across North America. In Dallas, the group provides hundreds of thousands of meals and services to people within the city and the surrounding area. Taking the Appropriate Steps To Support Better Mental Health There are a multitude of myths about mental illness and a lack of understanding of what mental illness is, leaving those who suffer in the dark. This lack of clarity can lead people to feel isolated, misunderstood and even selfdestructive. Anyone can suffer from mental illness; it’s not a matter of personal defects or poor upbringing. Thousands of people are diagnosed with a mental illness annually but just 20 percent of those that need treatment will receive it. In fact, the Mental Health Commission of the United States and Canada reported that 22 percent of the working population aged between 20 and 64 is living with a mental health problem, yet the majority will not seek care. Because of that, it’s important to not only educate people about mental illness, but also to provide healthy mental working environments. Good mental health isn’t about avoiding problems or achieving a “perfect” life. It’s about living well, taking the time to care for yourself and coping with life’s difficult situations. Achieving good mental health is just like achieving good physical health - it requires a little bit of work every single day. When you’re facing your daily stresses, challenges and demands, it’s still important to take a break to reset your mind. G4S In The News Secure Integration’s Brent Mahoney Quoted in Security Magazine February 6 Brent Mahoney, Enterprise Solutions Architect for G4S Secure Integration, is quoted in an article titled “Integrating Disparate Security Technology With Standards and Partnership.” Specifically, Mahoney gives the following advice when it comes to vendors, older technology and retrofitting: “Get to know the culture of the companies you’re working with,” Mahoney says. “Get a long-term view of how they want to do business. Work with your integrators and advisors, do your research, go to tradeshows.” Mahoney recommends navigating tradeshows like ISC West with your integrator, to see which vendors are showcasing interoperability, and where product trends are going. Some end users’ ideas may not be feasible yet, says Mahoney, but they’re likely in a future roadmap. Building a better relationship with manufacturers, often with integrators or consultants as the bridge between the two parties, can lead to advanced insights into future product ranges and functionality. AMAG Technology’s Symmetry CONNECT TM and Access Control Solution Featured in Security Today February 1 Published Feb. 1 in Security Today, “Banking on Efficiency” shows how AMAG Technology provided a solution to help one of the largest U.S. banks maintain compliance and save time and money. The solution consisted of Symmetry CONNECT TM web-based identity management platform with Symmetry Access Control. These systems automated previously manual processes. Automated notifications sent re-certifications and access requests, allowing the bank to enforce compliance requirements. G4S Vice President of Corporate Risk Services Robert Dodge Quoted in Insurance Journal February 2 G4S’ Robert Dodge was quoted in a story in Insurance Journal talking about managing and assessing risk for major events, including football’s big game in Minneapolis. “The game is designated a national special security event by the federal government. So basically, you get an enormous amount of security and collaboration by all law enforcement agencies... so it becomes, in essence, a very, very hard target,” said Dodge. During the week’s festivities and the game itself, G4S deployed Custom Protection Officers (CPO) to cover the stadium during the game, as well as Behavior Detection Officers (BDO) who provided security and behavioral analysis of visitors at Super Bowl LIVE. G4S All Stars CPO Beard Provides First Aid to Car Crash Victims

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In the early hours of Halloween, G4S CPO Tyler Beard came upon a scary scene on his way to work. At 2:30 AM, Beard saw a car crashed into a concrete barrier in Nashville and as he approached the car on foot, and a second car approached the scene, a woman walked from the wreck with blood on her arms and began running towards the second car asking for help. Beard immediately told the driver of the second car to call 911 while he found a man upside down in the driver’s seat with blood pooling on the floor board. Carefully, Beard inspected the car for a possible fire before pulling the man from the wreck with the help of the second driver. Once he got the man out on the road, he returned to his car for his emergency first aid kit and began to apply a bandage to the man’s head wound. Beard continued first aid until emergency services arrived.

CHICAGO — As G4S USO Barbara Turner was conducting her rounds, she heard a strange noise coming from the break room.When she stepped inside, she saw a man struggling to keep his balance. Quickly, Turner sprang into action. She immediately called 911 and hit the site’s panic button.Within minutes, paramedics were on the scene and rushed the man to the hospital thanks to Turner’s quick actions.

PHOENIX — G4S Manager Ed Preciado was recognized by the Western Region and G4S Chief Operations Officer Danny Grizzard for his outstanding performance and account leadership for a G4S client in Arizona. Preciado began working in federal law enforcement in 1988, working for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, serving as Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer and Assistant Field Office Director before joining G4S.

ATLANTA ­— When standing post, it can be easy to get complacent, but USO Aaron Grady knows that complacency can lead to issues. On two separate occasions, USO Grady noticed something out of the ordinary at a vehicle auction client’s site. Twice he saw individuals walking around the client’s location after hours, looking into cars and observing the lot. Each time, Grady ensured the client site was secure, getting both individuals off property quickly and without incident.

If you have not received it physically in the mail, you can also get your W-2 online via the iPay website. This month, the payroll team is back again to help with your W-2 questions, and help in understanding your paycheck.

To the right you’ll see an example of a paycheck with explanations highlighted in yellow on each section. Feel free to familiarize yourself with this so that you can see things like how much is being withheld for taxes, breakdown of your pay rate, and pay periods. How can I get my W-2 online? Visit the iPay website at www.ipay.adp. com, click on the W-2 button, click on 2017, and then download the PDF of your W-2. To register an account, visit www.ipay.adp. com/ipay/login.jsf What happens if there is a discrepancy on my W-2? If there is a discrepancy on your W-2, contact your local office to request form FM-130Request for W-2 Discrepancy Review. Complete the form, attach your W-2, and send it into the Corporate Payroll team for review. Instructions are included at the bottom of the form on how and where to send the information. There is wording included on the W-2 that will explain the difference between your annual pay and the lesser amount that may appear in Box 01, due to any pre-tax benefits and/or 401k.
