Teenagers go through several phases in their teenage life. Something which is common observed is the fact of belonging to a youth subculture. So, we decided to analyze the most frequent subcultures. The objective of this work was to show how different they are from each other. Another important factor in our study was also to verify whether the prejudices are true.

∆ They‘re not all stereotypically male, heavyset and long-haired !

With the rise of heavy metal in the 70s came a subculture of fans referred to as metalheads. As heavy metal evolved and diversified, so did its fan base. There are now metalheads all over the world, and they're not all stereotypically male, heavyset, and long-haired. In general, they are “just” a group of musical listeners. the “famous” Devil horns are typical at the metal concerts. This hand gesture was popularized by Ronnie James Dio who got it from his Italian grandmother.

Battle Jacket

Band T-shirt

Metal heads traditionally wear t-shirts for promoting their favorite bands and they often have chains or spikes on their accessories. Black denim is typical for this subculture and also battle jackets. A battle jacket is a leather or denim vest with button pins from metal bands you like.

The genre of Metal has lasted longer than everything except Rock 'n' Roll. Metal fans around the world have not only been listening to Metal. They often listen to classic rock along with blues rock, classical, and opera based music.

Bands: Modern Metal styles rooted from the Classic Metalheads who listened to the Early Heavy Metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath.

Punk Rock  Goth

∆Germanic Visigoth

"Goth" means different things to each follower. Many adopt fashion in order to separate themselves from other youth. Goth, as a modern movement, started as one component of the punk rock scene in the early 80’s. As the latter faded, Goth survived by creating its own subculture. The words Goth and Gothic have/had many, largely unrelated meanings in the past: the name of the Germanic Visigoth tribes that overthrew the Roman Empire. So, like I said in the beginning, they tend to be seen as intolerant and so one. facts : In contrast, many Goths are optimistic about the future and see much beauty in the world. Goths tend to be non-violent, pacifistic, passive, and tolerant. People have mistakenly associated Goth with extreme violence. It’s true that many Goths write about being depressed but they are often much more "happy and carefree in the company of other Goths.

Inspired by medieval style

satanic inverted pentacle

They use extreme black cloths, light colored makeup, different hair styles, and body piercings. Goths have a big fascination with medieval history, like we can see in the picture; they are also a little inspired by the medieval style. It’s also usual to wear symbols such like a Christian cross; Egyptian ankhs like the "Eye of Horus;" and a satanic inverted pentacle.

Goth music often deals with thought-provoking topics, concentrating on societal evils, like racism, war, hatred of groups, etc. Their music tends to concentrate on the very "nasty, unhappy" topics that "North American culture" wants to "ignore and forget." Typical bands which are related to the Goth subculture are: Clan of Xymox, The Cure and Evanescence

The first thought punk started with the do-it-yourself, what would be the practice of making or repairing something yourself instead of buying or paying for a professional job, and perhaps this is a small influence clothes torn or badly sewn that are present in the style of punk dress, but this thought is not the principal, even is no longer used by all the punks

Punks seek to outrage others with the highly theatrical use of clothing, hairstyles, jewelry, tattoos and body modification. Also popular is the use of leather, rubber and vinyl clothing. Everything is allowed in the punk-scene, you just have to be original.

Punk rock is a rock music genre that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States. In the early 80’s bands like the Ramones, in New York, the Sex Pistols and The Clash, in London, were recognized as the vanguard of a new musical movement.

Respect & individual rights

Since the 1960s, many aspects of the hippie counterculture have been assimilated by the mainstream. In the 60's, hippies required to free themselves from societal restrictions, choose their own way and find new meaning in life. This made hippies instantly recognizable to one another and served as a visual symbol of their respect for individual rights and their willingness to question authority.

Hippies often chose brightly colored clothing and the styles for the most part were loose and nonconstricting. Styles such as bell-bottom pants, vests, tiedyed garments, peasant blouses and long, full skirts with nature-inspired patchwork or non-Western clothing with Native American, African and Latin American prints are typical for this subculture.Hippies often purchased their clothes from flea markets and second-hand shops.

Hippie culture spread worldwide through a fusion of rock music, folk, blues, and psychedelic rock; it also found expression in literature, the dramatic arts, fashion, and the visual arts, including film, posters advertising rock concerts, and album covers. Here some bands which influenced the “hippie-wave: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and The Who.
