Visit to Guaraciaba As our first activity in the field of Emergencies, we carried out a visit in September to the municipal district of Guaraciaba located 700 km from the city of Florianópolis. On that occasion, official figures counted four people dead – including 9-year old child – and 89 wounded. The situation was one of public calamity and extreme chaos: 70% of the homes were destroyed; of the 10,604 inhabitants, 9,100were affected, including thousands of children and adolescents.
