Get Ready for Summer 2013 Spring is here!!! And in a few days, we will welcome Summer!! Ladies, we have been waiting a long time for the warm weather to arrive. For some of us, it has been six long months of cold, harsh, bundled-up weather. Now it is time for us to shed those layers. Get ready for those wonderful exciting colors, patterns, & styles that will accentuate our full figures, embrace our personalities, and unleash the wonderfulness within us! We will wear our hair short, long, braided, twisted, curly, in kinks, and even bald to showcase our many distinctive looks. As you know, our accessories are also important. In most cases, the right accessories will make an outfit pop even more. From the bracelets to the bag, it has to be just right before we step out for the world to see. Oh, how could I not mention the shoes? That’s because we know that goes without saying. If the shoes are not right, the whole outfit is NOT right. As fashion is important, we must first and foremost recognize the greatness that we possess in order to make everything come together. As the seasons change, let us also embrace change within. Without change we will never know how we can fully blossom into that great woman we were meant to be. So Full Blossom readers, I encourage you to be different, be fashionable, be great, be strong, and blossom into your full potential during this wonderful season! Wedding Season Has Begun

Congratulations You’re Engaged! Now Let’s Work It Out written by Charity Lynette of Curvy Chick Fitness

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| So your boo boo, shuga wuga, honey pie, love of your life has popped the question. After the initial shock and excitement dies down, a million and one thoughts start to run through your mind. Do we want a spring or fall wedding? Where will it be? Will all of my family travel? Who are my bridesmaids? What colors do I want to work with? What style of dress do I want my bridesmaids in? Dress? My dress ...what kind of dress do I want to wear? The moment you think of your dress whether you know the style you want or never have thought about it you immediately picture yourself in a dress. Then one of 2 things happen. One, you immediately get excited at the thought of being able to wear your dream dress that you have had picked out since you were 17 or two, your hands gravitate to your mid-section and grimace at the thought of squeezing into a wedding dress. Whether this is your thought process or not most brides to be make the declaration to be somewhat smaller than what they currently are. My goal is to outline a few things that can help make this process a little less intimidating.

Start off by making your fitness plan a priority with all of your other wedding plans. If it is not a part of your routine, you need to find a realistic time slot where it can go. You want to give yourself about 5 to 6 six months before the wedding day to have healthy results. Remember your not looking for a quick fix for a fitness plan you want to make sure that this is carried over into a lifestyle verses a crash diet just to fit in a dress. Incorporate this fitness plan in your budget if working out and nutrition are not your area of expertise then you are going to have to hire someone or pay for a class of some sort that is going to give you knowledge in this area. Treat this as an investment for your well being. Some people are paying $1500 for a photographer but think that $500 is too much for personal sessions. We spend so much money on material items such as cars, phones, the best designer clothes but then we want to be cheap when it comes to healthier food and gym memberships.

Workout classes are a great way to get you started plus it allows you to get together with girlfriends and the bridal party to discuss a few plans and a great stress reliever at such a hectic time. Also with your fiancÊ! That can be great couple time. You could even purchase a group package from a personal trainer that you and the girls could go in on together if being in front of strangers is too intimidating. Getting together for group walks/jogs is another option. Whatever route that you decide to go, make sure you start two to three days a week. Get with the group once a week then the other two days do something different so that you don't get bored with your routine. The moment you get bored switch it up. Eventually you’re going to want to incorporate strength training because that is going to burn fat faster. Experiment with different workouts do not do the same thing every time you work out that will only maintain your weight instead if help you lose and tone.

Now that we have the workout component naturally we have to talk about nutrition. The two go hand in hand. One without the other can make the process longer than what it needs to be. Plus neither one has to be too strict if you find a good balance between the two. Here are some helpful nutrition tips that you want to start using along with your new fitness plan.

Drink plenty of water everyday this will help with skin care and digestion Always eat breakfast even if it only a half an apple you have to get your metabolism jump started.

Snacks are your friend. Do not be afraid to snack just snack on good foods fruits & veggies, hummus, low-fat yogurt, nuts, protein drinks, natural peanut, almond, or soy butter lean meats like fish and chicken are easier to digest. At dinner stick to a meat and a veggie. No pasta & bread at dinner time. One cheat day a week! Stick to foods that grow from the ground that you have to cook. Processed and frozen foods only slow the process down. Eggs work for any time of the day and a great source or protein. Use the internet! There are so many websites with healthier recipes on making your favorite foods.

Planning a wedding and preparing yourself to blend families and households with another person can be extremely stressful and emotional experience. Which can take a toll on your overall health you want to give your body the best foods as possible and exercise the body. Treat the inside of your body as good as you cover the outside. Don't take the cheap route for your health. Even though you may be starting this journey because of the wedding doesn't mean it ends the day of the wedding. That's why you want to start 5 to 6 months out so that it becomes a pattern and a habit to eat well and exercise. You only get one body and what you do with it is your choice. Choose a healthy lifestyle and blend that lifestyle with the groom to be, so that if children come into the picture you are passing down such a great message. Remember if you live in the New York City area feel free to contact Curvy Chick Fitness, so we can tailor a fitness package for you or your whole bridal party.

Tip #1: Know how to dress for your profession and for specific occasions. There is nothing is worse than someone ill dressed for a meeting, interview, or presentation. It leaves a bad impression. You have 5 seconds to make a first impression and unfortunately the first one is always visual. For the full figured person this is a great task to perform. You have to be neat as well capable. Some employers may assume that your size will be an issue when conducting certain tasks. You must prove to them in a non-verbal way that you are fully capable of any task they set forth. Tip #2: Wear confidence like you would your favorite pair of shoes! When you walk into the room try to be the biggest personality there (no pun intended), not overwhelming, or "cocky," but intelligent. As we all know, there is a thin line between confident and cocky so try your best not to cross it. Just put in your mind that no one is sexier, more beautiful or half as much intelligent as you. When this happens you feel more comfortable in your surroundings and that allows your personality to shine through giving the other person a glimpse into what it would be like to work with you.

Tip

5 Tips A Plus Size Diva Must Know To Be Successful Hello Dolls! Today I want to bring to you five tips that will make you successful in your industry. Let’s be honest. Full figured man and woman being considered for particular career paths is much harder than it is for our smaller counterparts. So in order to get a fair deal, I have devised a few ways to get the ball in our court and climb that "corporate ladder."

#3:

Personal

Style

Stand out as much as possible without overpowering onlookers. Make the other people look as if they were manufactured drones that are fresh from the assembly line. Their generic looks and personality will be no match for you. Just be aware of your surrounding and adjust if need be. Try not to wear strong perfumes or colognes; nothing will turn someone off more than to be aquatinted with your fragrance before they become aquatinted with you. Tip

#4:

Be

Knowledgeable

Study the company or background of the attendees as much as you can prior. That way you can build a casual conversation with one or a group of people and make them feel more relaxed to talk about a subject their familiar with. This relationship building can lead to networking within your industry as well as open you to new ones. Know your conversational strengths and play them up with full potential and growth; you’re bound to get the attention of some high profile person, client, or group that can lead you into the right direction.

Tip # 5: Coordination No matter what industry you’re in, your ability to be adaptable to any corporate structure is essential. Start a routine and try to build or improve on it as soon as the occasion calls for it. Be the captain of every ship in your port. Know what's going on and what their needs are. While doing this, also remember that you are not every man or woman. Sometimes you need to enlist the help of others. Being a multi-tasked person doesn't mean you have to do it alone.

Remember these five tips. I'm sure they will come in handy! As always stay Beautiful, Confident, and Full figured! Until next time xo!

Whenever I try a new trend or a new garment, I have a sort of litmus test that the item must pass in order for me to adopt the trend or buy the garment. Having this test in place ensures that I don’t buy something that I will never wear, or even worse, buy something that would have Joann Rivers declaring me the “Fash-hole of the Week.”

By Charity Jackson Some plus size fashionistas will say that no matter what trend is out there circulating in la la land, you can wear it. From skinny jeans to bikinis to mid-riff baring tops, there’s no shortage of absolutely fabulous apparel out there waiting to be found. The fact is these plus size bloggers, consultants, and fashion proponents are right. You CAN wear it, you CAN rock it, and you CAN be all about it. But the real question is should you jump on the bandwagon? Being plus size doesn’t mean that you have to limit your wardrobe, but it does mean that you need to be conscience about what looks good on your body specifically, and what makes you feel good about yourself.

First and foremost, I have to feel great in the item. If I look at myself in the dressing room mirror and I have that “Eh” feeling, the garment’s a no go. If I notice any big issues with the garment, such as bunching in the wrong places with a pair of pants, I don’t say, “Oh, I can cover that up with a long blouse.” Instead, I say, “Time to move on!” Second, I try to think in terms of outfits rather than a single item. When you try on a piece of clothing, you want to think about what you have that could go with. If you’re trying on a blouse, do you have the ideal skirt or pant to go with it? How about jewelry? Shoes? If you’re not thinking in terms of the total package, there’s a good chance that you’ll buy the item and it will sit in your closet or wardrobe, unworn and unseen. It is only after I’ve truthfully considered these two major things, and I’m satisfied with my answers and thoughts, that I make an item a permanent part of my wardrobe.

Crystal Her Interview FBM: Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with us, Crystal. It really is a pleasure for us and our readers to be able to have a chance to get to know you a little bit better. First off, you have such an exotic, rare look. If you don’t mind us asking, what nationality are you? Crystal: Hmong FBM: That certainly is not common! Very nice. We’d like to know if you had to use one word to describe yourself. What would it be and why? Crystal: If I could use one word to describe myself it would be confident. Not to be mixed up with conceited. I've always been a bit different and I like it, it gave me a different perspective on things. I believe that is were my confidence grew from. Being different made me I accept who I am and made me realized beauty comes in all shape and size. That gave me the confidence to push the boundary of what the society perceive as beauty. FBM: We know all about pushing those boundaries here at FBM. That is one reason we are so grateful you agreed to be our cover model this issue. It is great to see a woman be confident and comfortable in her own skin. Well that’s great, how about tell us what some of your hobbies are? What do you do enjoy doing in your spare time? Crystal: Some of my hobbies are arts and craft, doing making and hair. Although I spend most of my free time with family and looking after my grandmother. FBM: We thought that doing make-up and hair might be on the list after stalking your Facebook page! You’re always coming up with something great. And how nice to know that you get to spend time with your family like that. Thanks for sharing! So, tell us how old you were when you decided you wanted to become a model? Crystal: I think when I was 15, I wanted to me famous. A couple of years later at the age of 17 is when I really thought about it and wanted to be a model. But I didn't look the part and I was not thin or 6 feet tall.

Photography: Erin Fackler

FBM Exclusive

Crystal Her Interview FBM: Well thank goodness being thin or six feet tall is no longer a requirement, right? We love that the modeling scene is diversifying; it’s about dang time! How about you tell us what or who some of your inspirations are? Crystal: My inspirations are my mother and grandmother. They are both strong women. They really took care of everything when the odds were against them. They came here in the States with nothing and couldn't understand a word. But they learned the language to better their life and family. If they could go to a country knowing nothing and is able to survive and grow, I can do the same in this industry. My other inspirations are my fellow plus size women. They inspire me to be stronger and really push the idea of what beauty is. That also inspired me to push designers to cater to us as well. Just because we are a bit thicker doesn't mean we can't look good. You ladies inspire me to do better so I can in return inspire you to love yourself and go for your dreams. FBM: That is really great, Crystal. What an incredible story about your family. We love your drive and passion to help driving the fashion industry forward; we can’t wait to see what you do next. In terms of the plus size agencies and magazines out there today, what made you decide to be a Full Blossom model? Crystal: What made me decide to become a Full Blossom model was that it was a chance for me to inspire more women especially women in the Asian community and also to let the world know a bit of who I am and where I come from. FBM: Well it definitely is a rare opportunity, and we know that our Asian readers, both male and female, are really going to love that. How exactly did you hear about Full Blossom? Crystal: I actually heard about Fully Blossom through a friend’s page on Facebook. I'm really glad I got the chance to learn about Full Blossom and be apart of their wonderful goal in changing the view of plus size woman. I am honored to be featured in one of your magazines.

FBM: Well we appreciate you stroking our ego a little bit there… ha! But seriously, that’s exactly our goal: to change the way people view the plus size woman. Thank you for being a part of that and helping us achieve our goals. Are there other people that continue to inspire your life in general, not just in terms of the modeling world? Crystal: My family inspires me throughout my life. I also have to say failure is a big inspiration too because I don't want to be a failure to my family or myself. So I really strive to do better for myself in life generally. FBM: It’s clear that you’re not going to be a failure, and we love that you work so hard. Do you have a favorite quote or phrase and inspires you to kick it into over drive for your work? Crystal: My favorite quote that helps me stay positive is a quote I got from a fortune cookie, "A day without smiling is a day wasted". Life is not always great, but putting a smile in it can bring you up or makes someone’s day better.

Photography: StartingImages

FBM: Dang, a fortune cookie sounds really good right now. Actually, some beef and broccoli, then a crab-rangoon and then a fortune cookie! Sorry, didn’t mean to get sidetracked. Ha! Back to business; can you tell us about some of the obstacles you’ve had to overcome while breaking into the modeling industry? We know it isn’t always peaches and cream… sorry, last food reference, we promise!

Crystal: I had to overcome the stereotype Asian women fall into. Which is most of them are thin. Also the height, I'm only 5'6. Most models are 5'7 and up.

Crystal: My native language is Hmong

FBM: Stereotypes are the worst. Why do they even exist anymore? Well we must say, for being 5’6”, you sure carry yourself like you’re 6’1”. Keep rockin’ it, girl. So we asked about your obstacles, but for a second we want to be really specific and ask about the struggles you’ve faced in your journey as a plus size model.

Crystal: My favorite aspect is that we are very family oriented.

Crystal: The struggles I have so far are like most models that are just starting, ex: where to go, how to contact people, and who is real and who's not. Being a bit too short, that had prevented me from some opportunities for a shoots and shows. But I'm not going to let it stop me. I'm still going to go for it! FBM: That’s exactly it. We all have big dreams, but half the battle is to just keep pushing and not ever stop. We love that about you. Even though you’ve probably felt like giving up before, what kept you motivated? Crystal: What keeps me motivated is my family and the fear of failing. FBM: Family seems to be really important to you, they must be really proud of all you’re accomplishing and doing then! We’d love to ask you a little bit more about where your family comes from and your culture. Could you tell us what your native language is?

FBM: What is your favorite aspect of your culture?

FBM: We can definitely tell you fit the bill on that part of your culture! Does your culture embrace plus size women? Crystal: My culture embraces all sizes, but I do notice that most men prefer their woman a bit smaller than them. FBM: Well everyone is entitled to their preferences. We wonder if any of our Hmong male readers feel differently and like a woman with extra curves! How about the food? What type of food is popular among your culture? Crystal: Since Hmong people live around with a lot of Laotian and Thai most of our food is intergrade. Traditional Hmong food is actually very simple. Just rice with boiled chicken with herbs, boiled pork with greens, steam fished with herbs, pepper, cabbage rolls and a couple more dishes. FBM: We promised no more food references, but this is making us hungry again! If you were to make us your favorite traditional Hmong dish, what would it be?

Crystal: I don't really have a favorite I like all of them. If I really, really have to pick I would have to say boiled chicken with herbs and pepper. FBM: Sounds great! Hopefully we can meet up again sometime soon and you can make us some authentic Hmong food! Is there a specific stereotype about Hmong people that you would like to dispel?

Crystal: Follow your dreams and learn to love yourself. Once you do you'll gain confidence and when you do there is nothing stopping you from what you what to do. FBM: Great advice. Thank you so much for letting us inside your world today, Crystal. It has been fantastic getting a chance to work with you for this issue, and we look forward to catching up again soon in the future!

Crystal: Some stereotype I would like to dispel is that we are not all in gangs, farm and do poorly in school. In every culture and race they have a gang but not everyone is one. There is a good population of Hmong farmers, but that's not THE majority, and any student can do poor in school if the education system isn't doing a good job. FBM: Thank you for sharing that with us. It’s so important to learn about other nationalities, and you’ve been a big help for us learning about the Hmong culture! We have just a few more questions for you before we get out of here. If there is just one thing that you want people to know about you, Crystal Her, what would it be? Crystal: One thing I want people to know is that I am well around. I love modeling, doing hair, makeup, styling, designing and photography. FBM: And we love watching all of those things come together for you! Finally, what advice or last words do you have for our Full Blossom readers?

How To Be A Sexy & Alluring Woman By Nina Kocendova

Since the beginning of creation there has been a great expectation of women to be beautiful and alluring, and women have gone through great lengths to achieve such an image. Through the use of cosmetics, dress, beauty regimens, surgical enhancements and other means we continue to search for new ways to refine our image in the world. We've read so much in magazines about how to as ladies, become more alluring and desirable to the opposite sex…how to grab their attention…what to cook for them…how to lead them on and how to spend hours trying to decode their mysterious behavior.

Model: Techla Photography: Modern Photographix

Yet there is actually a secret to allure. And surprisingly while some women are aware of it, it continues to elude the great majority. Have you ever met a woman who seemed to attract all the attention of men and women wherever she was, no matter the crowd? Perhaps she was not even the most attractive woman by traditional standards or the best dressed yet there was something about her that captivated your attention and the attention of those around her. Or you can think of a person that is always a great joy to be around, and they seem to always be swarmed by admirers and friends‌they usually seem to possess the ability to even befriend complete strangers rather easily. The thing about these types of people is you can't exactly put your finger on what it is about them most times. Outwardly they may range from plain/average looking to quite attractive, but one thing becomes clear pretty quickly and that is that their true attractive quality‌their magnetism so to speak, arises from a place much deeper than outward appearance.

These people we admire so much have what you call charisma. The rarest, most profound type of charisma is the kind a person is naturally born with. People who are born charismatics, have an incredible advantage in the world over others. But charisma and poise can also to a greater degree be cultivated. Those with charismatic personalities easily generate interest. And they finesse this interest into allure. True allure cannot be reduced to something as superficial as a fabulous perfume, or smoldering eye makeup. These things are all in our repertoire to enhance our looks, however real allure cannot be bought. Charismatic people are like a bright light that draws people into its warm glow. They are inviting and approachable to talk to, providing positive and interesting insights into the conversation. You will rarely hear a charismatic person lingering on a negative topic for very long. They are often funny, or sweet…possessing a type of charm that makes people feel good about themselves just being in their presence. And they give you just enough of their feel-good presence and personal information about themselves to create allure. They don't put all their cards on the table, and they don't qualify themselves to you in an attempt to gain your approval. This behavior in itself signals confidence on a subconscious level.

You'll rarely see these people using overexposure in their way of dress as a means of gaining attention because they don't need to. Women in possession of the winsome qualities of charisma and allure are most often sexy in a less superficial way, and are sexy in a much more magnetic way. They exude confidence and royal bearing in the way they hold themselves, the way they engage you in conversation, and their body language. So many lovely ladies today have forgotten what truly attracts. Many are resorting out of desperation to obscenely obnoxious behavior that lacks class or poise, for attention that is short lived and often negative. Overexposing your skin regardless of setting, being loud and overly provocative and indulging in negative and controversial discussion are all tempting ways to garner attention for some because they are easy. They will gain you short lived attention from people who seek superficial stimulation before they move on to the next thing that captures their attention. True beauty, true magnetism, and true admiration like all of the most wondrous things in life, arise from a place within. Learn to cultivate your charisma, poise, confidence and allure and you will be cultivating what is the secret to attraction and the secret to being sexy. Make others feel good in your presence, engage them and show interest in their lives...don't only converse for an opportunity to speak of, or promote yourself.

Model: Techla Photography: Modern Photographix

Show restraint when the urge to showboat arises, be slightly modest in showcasing the best you have. Contrary to what you may be inclined to think, this will create more interest and allure while showing off to many is repugnant. Work on the way you carry yourself and refine your conversation skills. Show that you are interested and listening to what people are saying by giving them eye contact, asking questions at appropriate times and giving them feedback when asked. Don't impose your opinions on others with no regard, and please speak at a reasonable volume. Those with great bearing and pose, do not need to yell over others to get attention and to be heard. They command respect and attention automatically with their presence. You must learn how to become self aware and work on all parts of you that pertain to your bearing and presence. Taper bad habits, and replace them with more winsome characteristics. As you continue to work on yourself, refrain from judging others who are still holding on to the same old habits you are trying to rid yourself of. Remember, we are all on a quest to better ourselves and become the best, most alluring versions of ourselves that we can be. Not everyone is in the same stage of the process as you and we all

Introducing

NATURALLY YOU Dedicated to the Beauty of Natural Hair

Interview with 1. What inspired you to go natural? I have always been enticed by natural hair but needed time to be confident enough in myself to go for it and go against the grain of what the media deemed beautiful. When I went off to college I received the support of fellow naturalista's, who were so confident and comfortable in their coils that I let go of my reservations from there and followed suit.

TEISHA THOMAS

2. When did you do your big chop? My big chop was in my sophomore year of college. I nervously asked my hairdresser to cut all of the processed hair off and all I could think about is what everyone else would think of me but I wanted to start fresh, so I began with a baby Afro that morphed into Straw sets and eventually into a throwback seventies version of a full fledged Afro with the black power pick to boot. Unfortunately my place of employment did not agree with my choice in hairstyle and once again I succumbed to societal pressure of straight being the equivalent of beautiful and acceptable. Fortunately that journey was short lived. My hair rejected the a new brand of relaxer and went through a horrible phase of excessive shedding. No hair treatment, biotin, or moisturizers helped.. I finally decided to grow my hair our naturally once more, through kinky twists and ,oh so happily, here I am today. 3. What is your current hair regimen? Currently I wash and retwist as needed, approximately every 2-3 weeks. I usually retwist my locs into an updo for low maintenance that can easily morph into a second style for the following week. For example I will plat my hair into braids and then configure my plats into a pincurl bun for the first week. For the following week I will unbraid the plats and my hair will be full of defined crinkles for at least another two weeks. I always wrap my hair in a satin scarf to prevent breakage every night

4. What are your favorite hair products? Some of my must haves are Taliah Wajid's Lock it Up gel , Black Soap shampoo, and Healing Oil. I also use Black Women Natural Hairstyles (BWNH) Organic Herbal Hair tea to condition and cleanse my locs. When my locs feel a little on the stiff side I spritz with a mixture of Argon, olive oil, and warm water to add moisture.

5. What are the pros and cons you've faced having natural hair? One definite pro is the length and healthiness of my hair. I have never been able to grow my processed hair past the nape of my neck and now my locks are flowing freely down my back. I have truly grown to love my hair throughout my loc journey. There were many times I almost called it quits while beginning the locking process, thanks to the sideways stares and the Sistah Souljah commentary. Once past this phase,my locs have truly became a part of my identity and have taught me patience and self-acceptance amongst other lessons. One con I've noticed with having natural hair is that even though we are making huge strides in the natural hair evolution, it still has yet to be accepted without resistance or stereotyping. Occasionally, I still encounter those awkward moments when a person gets bold enough to touch my locs and enquire about how I make my hair this way or if I wash my hair. I try to think of those as teachable moments where I'm slowly debunking one "dreaded" myth at a time.

Interview with

ANDREA JACKSON 1. What inspired you to go natural? My inspiration to "go natural" came after multiple years of relaxers, colors, and weaves. I knew that my hair was not its healthiest and wanted a fresh start. Besides, the change was a new and unique look for me as a plus model. 2. . When did you do your big chop? My "big chop" occurred in the spring of 2010 at the end of a love/hate relationship with having my hair dyed black. 3. What is your current hair regimen? I shampoo, deep condition, and moisturize my hair weekly. If I have the time I will finger roll my hair to maintain a consistent curl pattern and style once set. Otherwise, I will wear an afro. I have also worn my hair molded straight back and pressed for more variety. Those styles take a lot more effort. I almost always allow my hair to air dry. I will use an overhead dryer no more than 15 minutes. 4. What are your favorite hair products? Taliah Waajid's Total Body Black Earth Shampoo Palmer's Deep Conditioning Protein Pack Softee's Coconut Oil.

Make Up: Tasha Andrews Dress: Big Girls United Photography: MomentByMello.com

5. What are the pros and cons you've faced having natural hair? Pros include having healthier hair, no harmful chemicals, more manageability, and quick styling. Cons include not having as much variety in styles because of the length of my natural hair. Also when pressed, certain styles don't last because the elements can change my hair texture (humidity, rain, etc).

Maui Bigelow I AM A MOTHER, TEACHER, DESIGNER, MAKEUP ARTIST, and WRITER........... I AM A WOMAN!!! PERFECTLY IMPERFECT LIVING PHAT GIRL FRESH AND LOVING IT!!!

I am Maui Bigelow, a 35 year old single mother who takes pride in being a women's advocate. I have experienced my share of hardship throughout my life but I learned to appreciate them, because it made me who I am today. I am a very passionate person and I make it a habit of putting my all into every task I am faced with. I work as a substitute teacher and my message to the youth is the same as it is to adults; "anything is possible" and "if you learn to live outside of your situation, you can overcome anything." I promote self love because if you don't love yourself, no one else will. I know that womanhood does not greet every girl, in the same manner but there are things that each of us must grasp in order to transition. My goal is to cater to the souls of my sisters (women) because many times we find ourselves discouraged, beat down and depressed about who society say's we are or aren't. It is important to remember that the size of our body doesn't make us large; it is the size of our hearts.

I love the path of life I am traveling down because I am doing exactly what I love and although the financial reward may not be great; my heart is filled with joy. I love doing things that empower and encourage others and all of my work does just that. I AM A MOTHER, TEACHER, DESIGNER, MAKEUP ARTIST, and WRITER........... I AM A WOMAN!!! PERFECTLY IMPERFECT LIVING PHAT GIRL FRESH AND LOVING IT.

The person or thing that honestly motivated me to start this journey is a woman that is near and dear to my heart; Ms. Linnie McCoy, my Big Mama. Although I was raised and reared by a number of strong black women, she is one woman that I got the most from. She is my aunt by blood but she has been so much more, I remember how fashionable she always was and how her curves were undeniable. She never tried to hide them; she dressed to assure that she complimented them. Initially I was just going to sell plus size clothing and design tee's and P,H.A.T GIRL FRESH was simply a slogan. However, the more I thought about it, I was able to identify with the significance of the term and it all tied in with what and who my inspiration is. My Big Mama, in her prime and even today she is, the epitome of P.H.A.T GIRL FRESH. A bold woman in every area of life, A woman who is confident about who she is and the power that she was given by God. A woman who is perfectly imperfect and unapologetic for her flaws. A woman who is indeed Powerful, Honest and True (P.H.A.T).

I chose hearts as the logo for all of my companies because hearts are curvy with straight parts like women. Hearts represent love. The color pink is used to identify the female gender which I love and respect. The pink is also the color of the breast cancer ribbon (I am a survivor/warrior). Purple is the color of the lupus ribbon which is a disease that affects many women including my inspiration, Ms. Linnie McCoy (big mama). Purple is also the color that represents another issue that affects women, domestic violence. The hearts are intertwined because we are all connected in the game of life and the sisterhood of womanhood.

So there you have it, the birth of P.H.A.T GIRL FRESH!! I just want women to know that there is no shame in loving who they are in spite of. I want women to know that despite what society says, beauty goes far beyond any of our physical features and no matter what size you are, loving yourself is the key to happiness.

Who Wore the Dress Best? Delvon Johnson, Celebrity Stylist

J-Lo VS Rhi- Grunge couture has been on the red carpet more often now. These are two different approaches to this look. Jennifer made her look more chic and sleek by pairing feminine jewelry pieces with an obi belt. Now, Rihanna kept it simple by making her statement with hair ever changing red locks. This look can be tragic if you don't compliment it with the right accessories. Who's really glad to be wearing a trash bag on the carpet? JLO wore it best.

J-Hud vs Kim K- We all have followed these two celebs in the media. One shedding pounds the other for adding baby weight. But one can't argue these two can rock some curves. Jennifer looks amazing, I love the gold accents and her flawless skin adds the perfect glow to any outfit. Kim, has such a natural beauty, which enhances anything she wears. Which this dress portion is key. Kim looks a bit top heavy in this dress which doesn't flatter her bodacious body. Jennifer wore it best.

Jennifer vs Rhianna - While she may not be known for her singing, she is definitely know for her sense of style which is why I am disappointed in how RiRi downplayed this dress. It almost looks like she threw it on to make an errand run. JLO addition of the wide belt to define her waist makes this dress look really good on her! (A trick I love myself. If you have a defined waistline, adding a belt will make a frumpy dress look marvelous!) I would loose that necklace though! All in all, this goes to JLo Both Jennifer Lopez and Rhianna look stunning in this get up, but JLow seals it. J-Low is rocking the perfect jewelry, shoes and belt. The thick belt reflects her fantastic shape. Her “up do” is the perfect hair style for this chic look. J-low can DRESS Rhianna went wrong with the nude pumps, and she didn’t wear any jewelry. The Ronald Mcdonald hair color has got to go. Sorry, Rhi, Rhi, but it’s a MESS Jennifer VS Rihanna LOVE this dress. Love the leather. Love the one shoulder. Rihanna looks great and can totally pull this off but not sure I love the nude shoes with the black leather. I love how Ms. Lopez takes this edgy look and styles it with the sophisticated hairstyle and the heavy jewelled neck piece. I personally would have the lost the neck piece and done a big earring but I do love the black sophisticated heel. Jenny from The Block does it better! J-Lo vs Rhi RHi: Clearly this dress is multi-purpose! You've got Red Carpet (J-Lo) vs dinner with friends (Rhi Rhi) Both ladies are giving this dress life and are appropriate for the occasion. This is a tie for me! BTW LOHVING the jewels J-Lo!!

Jennifer vs Kim K - While Kim K is smaller, she has curves that allows the details of the dress to be envisioned. I know most aren't a fan, but in this dress - she wore it best. The fit is completely different and for some reason there seems to be just a touch more detailing.

Jennifer Hudson and Kim Kardashian look equally ravishing. The dress hugs Kim and Jen in all the right places, and they both look fabulous. If I had to choose, Jennifer gets the prize. Kim is a little “hippie” in this shot. Was she pregnant yet? Jennifer gets the DRESS while Kim is the MESS. Jennifer VS Kim This is a really beautiful dress and they both look fabulous. Love the way it shows the curves and you know I am all about the curves. However, the dress and its detail takes my eyes directly to Kim’s breasts and it really takes away from the rest of her complete look. Love Jennifer’s peek toe shoe but with the beautiful detailed neckline on this piece, I would have like to see the hair up and away from her neck and shoulders. It’s a close one, but I think Miss Hudsons got this one! J-Hud vs Kim K: Kudos to J-Hud for dropping the pounds and still embracing her curves! But this time it's really NOT working for me. Kim kills it and fills out every inch of this dress! Kim K is the clear winner...this time!
