Caterina de Medici and the New Identities will be held in Corridoio on May 2. This exhibition showcases student work that contributes to the historical past and contemporary connections to Caterina de Medici. Caterina de Medici was an Italian noblewoman who became the Queen of France in 1547, during a time of civil war. She is lauded as one of the most powerful European women of the sixteenthcentury and criticized as ruthless ruller towards the Huguenots. She was also known for making th arts available to the public, and she had a known passion for architecture and a large personal collection of varius artworks. As a woman that encompassed many identities, the exhibition seeks to explore her sense of self through student works. The pieces chosen to be in the digital arts exhibition were created f rom students at the Florence University of the Arts. The opportunity to present original works is extremely important to the development of new artists, and the Florence University of the Arts is excited to showcase student’s creations that have been worked on throughout the semester. The exhibition is also a collaboration with the Gallery Exhibition and Curating class, who have chosen the artworks and designed the exhibition. The theme of Caterina de Medici and her new identities was chosen by the conference of FUA. The pieces exhibited are connected to the theme in various, complex ways, and the students invite visitors to interpret and discuss the works. Caterina fu tra le prime ad aprire l’arte al pubblico, aveva una forte passione per l'architettura e una grande collezione personale di opere d'arte. Fu una donna dalle molte identità, e proprio su questo la mostra cerca di esplorare il senso di sé di Caterina, attraverso le tante opere degli studenti internazionali. L'opportunità di presentare le proprie opere originali alla comunità fiorentina è estremamente importante per lo sviluppo di nuovi artisti, e la Florence University of the Arts è entusiasta di mostrare i pezzi degli studenti che sono stati creati durante il semestre nei tanti corsi di Visual Communication. La mostra è stata curata ed allestita dagli studenti della classe Exhibition Gallery e Curating, che ha anche scelto le opere. I pezzi esposti sono collegati al tema in modi - a volte molto complessi - e per questo gli studenti invitano i visitatori a interpretare e discutere assieme le opere, per poterne capire meglio l’intuizione ed il significato.

DIGITAL GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATION Caterina and The Fermi paradox is a conflict between the argument that scale and probability seem to favor intelligent life being common in the universe, and the total lack of evidence of intelligent life having ever arisen anywhere other than on the Earth. Fermi's name is linked because of a casual conversation he had in the Summer of 1950 with fellow physicists, during lunch, Fermi suddenly said, "But where is everybody?”. If this is the question… here’s to you the answer to Enrico Fermi given by Digital Illustration Students about very probable intelligent life from the worlds of the infinity…and beyond! FISHERMAN’S BASTION Digital photo Windows, refections, and gradations of colors have really intrigued me this past semester. I was able to capture this photograph at my favorite place in Budapest, called the Fisherman’s Bastion. The modern windows created a mosaic-like pattern, which is reminiscent of the mosaic, tiled rooftops that are found on many of Budapest’s ancient buildings.

In this video the colors and the style use in the animated titles are inspired by the conference on Caterina held in Florence on March 17th.

Venice has taught me that maybe we’re all a little lost and maybe a little too reliant on the wrong things. Maybe we could use a bit more wandering and a little less worrying about the choice or direction. And maybe if we let our feet lead us away from the crowd maybe our eyes will see things they once would have missed.

I actually asked for permission to take his photo, and he gave me a nod. I can’t help but feel like it’s worth (and holds) far more than 1000 words.

INTERMEDIATE INTERIOR DESIGN The concept developed for this project is focused on a cool space, and more specifically the request for a place which blends a warm and friendly style with the latest trends in aesthetics, in a fusion of materials and finishes which give it an inviting atmosphere. Attention to colors is also requested, which prevails throughout the bar cafeteria and gives a stylish and chic note. Moreover, the use of materials, accurate nishes and furnishings for the bar and the dining area, along with attention to details in the client bathroom, in lighting design and highlighting on oors and walls coverings will give the entire ambience a warm and natural touch perfect for relaxing during clientele leisure time. Each work group of Interior Design students has developed the project work defining a concept brief inspired to Caterina de' Medici and the new identities that has been adopted as “Client� request.

OLIVE Olive was developed to exhibit the harmonious combination of farm-to-table food with an invigorating atmosphere. Every single ingredient is as fresh as it gets, responsibly sourced, and prepared with great care. Olive’s only focus is creating the most fulfilling experience possible for each individual that steps inside. In order to provide an elegant, yet laidback aesthetic, we decided on an Industrial- Vintage theme throughout the space. We installed raw elements such as concrete counters, but also delicate elements such as marble tables and antique shelves. At Olive, we believe balance is key. The highest standard of comfort and style can be found in every corner. We find it necessary to make sure each customer is treated with sincere hospitality and feels completely at home. This inspiration comes from the great Caterina de Medici. As a tribute to her, we based our color scheme off of her yellow dress. It was a subtle detail, yet it made the design feel complete. Olive is a space that speaks without words. The fresh food, beautiful design, and inviting atmosphere all make it impossible to visit only once.

MUSIC PRODUCTION The song was created by the students of the Music Production department. It was specifically designed as a support to the exhibition to create an immersive environment, enveloped in multi-sensory stimuli. A non-invasive music able to cheer the visitor's journey through the works.
