The artistic world of Vincenzo Gualano is complex and full of interests and feelings, but his central point is the lost love for the woman who, dying prematurely, left him alone. There are pains that cannot be avoided or denied this is the proof that Gualano chooses to face. He deals with pain through artwork and does everything so as to not be destroyed by it. The pain is there, like a deep wound. Gualano does not look for the key to deny the pain, rather he dives into the life that he spent with his beloved,during this journey developing a new technique: that of drawing his figures on an elastic canvas, using sticks, sprays and knots. Illustrating loss is a long and complex psychic operation. It is not only a matter of accepting reality, but also of truly recognizing what has been lost, including the promise of everything that could be and has been lived with those who are no longer there. Only then you can return to life again, despite the suffering that remains when you realize once and for all that memories are only memories. Only then, can you love again. And start again. And resume smiling…

Il mondo artistico di Vincenzo Gualano è complesso e pieno di interessi e sentimenti, ma il tema centrale è l'amore perduto per la donna che morendo prematuramente lo ha lasciato. Ci sono dolori che non si possono né evitare né cancellare: la prova che Gualano sceglie di affrontare è questa. Affrontare il dolore attraverso la sua opera e fare di tutto per non esserne devastato. Quel dolore è lì, come una ferita profonda. Gualano non cerca il tasto “cancella”, anzi si tuffa dentro la vita vissuta con la sua amata, elaborando durante il suo percorso una tecnica nuova: quella di disegnare le sue figure sulla tela elastica usando bastoncini, spray e nodi. Elaborare la perdita è un’operazione psichica lunga e complessa. Si tratta non solo di accettare la realtà, ma anche di riconoscere veramente ciò che si è perduto, compresa la promessa di tutto quello che si sarebbe potuto e voluto vivere con chi non c’è più. Solo poi, si può tornare di nuovo alla vita, nonostante la sofferenza che resta quando si capisce una volta per tutte che i ricordi sono solo ricordi. Solo poi, si può amare di nuovo. E ricominciare. E riprendere a sorridere…
