PAINTINGS IN TRANSCENDENCE Andrea Mancini is a Florentine illustrator, painter, and art educator. He currently creates artwork for creative advertising and fashion companies, teaches Fine Arts, and is a brand ambassador for Wacom Europe. Watercolours, both traditional and digital, are his preferred medium. This exhibition will be the first showcase of his natively digital artwork. The great aspects of using a digital medium is the speed, diversity of tools and ease of access as well as distribution. From this derives a loss of material values but still enables us to create "one-of-a-kind" artwork, and as digital technologies continue to evolve, they provide opportunities for new forms of artistic expression, the limitations of which are not yet defined. After his first digital experience, Andrea Mancini decided to enhance the creative process towards innovative and unexplored paths. These artworks are conceptually different from his traditional art: immaterial, ephemeral, liquid but at the same time strong and solid in our memory, like significant faces in our life. Mancini started digitally painting portraits about three years ago, portraying his favourite people: painters, comic artists, musicians, actors, scientists, and people that he loved and was inspired by, transcending them into a virtual form, an image, beyond their works.

For Andrea Mancini the series of paintings called “Life” played a great role in this project. It features a collection of digital paintings called “Workers" and "Bathers" based on Mancini’s sketches and photographs made by him throughout the years that helped him in his practice.

Andrea Mancini è un illustratore, pittore e insegnante artistico fiorentino. Attualmente crea opere per pubblicità creative e aziende di moda, insegna belle arti ed è un ambasciatore del marchio Wacom Europe. Gli acquerelli, sia tradizionali che digitali, sono il suo mezzo preferito. Questa mostra è la prima vetrina delle proprie opere digitali.
Per Andrea Mancini la serie di dipinti intitolata "Vita" ha avuto infatti il ruolo principale in questo progetto. Insieme ad essa, vengono presentate le collezioni di dipinti digitali chiamate “Lavoratori" e "Bagnanti" basate su schizzi e fotografie di Mancini realizzati nel corso degli anni, che lo hanno aiutato a perfezionare la propria pratica.
Gli aspetti dell'utilizzo di un mezzo digitale sono la velocità, la diversità degli strumenti e la facilità di accesso e distribuzione. Da tutto questo però ne deriva una perdita di materiale, di valori, che però ci consente ancora di creare un'opera d'arte "unica nel suo genere", e mentre le tecnologie digitali continuano ad evolversi, esse offrono opportunità per nuove forme di espressione artistica i cui limiti non sono ancora definiti. Dopo la sua prima esperienza digitale, Andrea Mancini ha deciso di migliorare il processo creativo verso percorsi innovativi e inesplorati. Queste opere d'artesono concettualmente diverse dalla sua arte tradizionale: il digitale è immateriale, effimero, liquido ma allo stesso tempo forte e solido nella nostra memoria, come ad esempio i volti più significativi della nostra vita. Mancini ha iniziato a dipingere digitalmente ritratti circa tre anni fa, ritraendo le sue persone preferite: pittori, artisti di fumetti, musicisti, attori, scienziati e persone che ha amato e da cui ha tratto ispirazione, trascendendole in una forma virtuale, un'immagine, che andasse al di là delle loro opere. ANDREA MANCINI Andrea Mancini is a Florentine illustrator, painter, and art educator. He began as a cartoonist at a young age by studying with the master animator Tomislav Spikic (from Zagreb Film) and advertising design with Leonardo Mattioli. In the 1980s, his career in visual communication encountered a significant turning point when he was hired by Leader, the creative advertising company run by Gilberto Filippetti. Subsequently, as a freelance illustrator, he often frequented Paris and New York to further his professional development through studios of artists and designers such as Massimo Vignelli, Lubalin and Peckolick, Seymour Chwast, and Andy Warhol. In the same period, he exhibited his work for the first time at the Bologna Art Fair, as well as in Japan and the US. In the 1990s, Andrea gained expertise in digital painting and in 1999, his animated graphic design project was featured in the “Lohengrin� opera production by Luca Ronconi at the Comunale theater in Florence. In 2000, he won the Fiorino prize for the visual arts and a selection of his works was purchased by the Museo Marino Marini in Florence. Andrea currently creates illustrations for creative advertising and fashion companies, teaches Fine Arts, and is a testimonial for Wacom Europe. Watercolors, both traditional and digital, are his preferred medium.

ANDREA MANCINI Andrea Mancini è un illustratore, pittore e insegnante d’arte fiorentino. Ha iniziato come fumettista in giovane età studiando con il maestro animatore Tomislav Spikic (da Zagreb Film) e anche come designer pubblicitario con Leonardo Mattioli.Negli anni '80 la sua carriera nella comunicazione visiva ha incontrato una svolta significativa quando è stato assunto da Leader, la società pubblicitaria creativa gestita da Gilberto Filippetti. Successivamente, come illustratore freelance, ha iniziato a frequentare spesso sia Parigi che New York, collaborando con studi di artisti e designer come Massimo Vignelli, Lubalin e Peckolick, Seymour Chwast e Andy Warhol. Sempre nello stesso periodo espone le sue opere per la prima volta alla Bologna Art Fair, in Giappone e negli Stati Uniti. Negli anni '90 Andrea ha acquisito esperienza nella pittura digitale e nel 1999 la sua grafica animata come progetto di design viene presentata nella produzione lirica "Lohengrin" di Luca Ronconi, al teatro Comunale di Firenze. Nel 2000 ha vinto il Fiorino per le Arti Visive e una selezione delle sue opere è stata acquistata dal Museo Marino Marini di Firenze. Andrea attualmente crea illustrazioni per pubblicità creative ed aziende di moda, insegna belle arti, ed è testimonial per il marchio Wacom Europe.
