Outdoor Recreation Center Bldg. 4050, Glass Park Front Desk/Rentals/Ravens Roost: 361-6349/6350 Programs: 361-4089 SNOW MACHINE SAFETY COURSE Feb. 5 | 9 a.m. | Age: 18 & older Fee: $10 per person | Participants: Max: 20 This course was created to promote snow machine safety and responsibility while out on the trail. All classes begin at 9 a.m. An informative class followed by a hands-on practical on the operation of the machine. Participants will be issued a Snowmachine Safety Card at the conclusion of the course. This course is required to rent snow machines from the Outdoor Recreation Center.

WINTER ICE FISHING* Feb. 12 | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee: $65 per person | Participants: Max: 9; Min: 3 Go ice fishing with the Outdoor Recreation Center at some Interior Alaska lakes. If you are new to ice fishing, then here is your chance for a real Alaskan experience. ORC will provide transportation, rod and reel, bait, ice fishing hut with woodstove, and the know-how to get you started. Please bring warm clothing, snacks, and beverages. If the temperature drops below -20 degrees, the trip will be postponed to a later date. *An Alaska state fishing license is required for this trip!

MACLAREN RIVER LODGE Feb. 18-20 (Must register by Feb. 4) | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee: $329 per person | Participants: Max: 6; Min: 4 Outdoor Recreation Center will be making a holiday run to Maclaren Lodge during President’s Day weekend. This is the perfect getaway and a true Alaskan experience. This program is weather dependent and subject to blizzards, white-out conditions and extreme temperatures. ORC will provide transportation, lodging, meals, snow machines and helmets. Please bring warm boots, cold weather clothing, hand/foot warmers, and a good pair of gloves. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Outdoor Recreation Centeris seeking volunteer instructors/guides for our outdoor programs. This includes our boating, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, X/C ski, fishing, tours, ATV and snow machine trips. Women in the Wilderness WIW: WHITE MOUNTAINS SNOWMACHINE TRIP Feb. 26 | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee: $75 per person | Participants: Max: 6; Min: 3 A women’s only version of the White Mountains snowmachine run, it’s time to get outside and take advantage of what Alaska has to offer! ORC will provide transportation, snowmachine and helmet. You provide a lunch, snacks, beverages and cold weather clothing. If the temperature drops below -10 degrees the trip will be postponed to a warmer date.

WIW: ANGEL CREEK SNOWMACHINE & HOT SPRINGS TRIP March 19-20 (Must pre-register by March 5) | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee: $125 per person | Participants: Min 4; Max 6 Join the Outdoor Recreation Center staff for an overnight women’s only trip to the cabins at Angel Creek! This program is weather dependent and subject extreme temperatures. ORC will provide transportation, snowmachine, helmet, lodging, dinner Saturday, and breakfast Sunday. Participants need to bring 2 lunches, snacks, drinks, warm boots, cold weather clothing, and any overnight necessities. There is a café-style lodge if you prefer to purchase lunch there. Don’t forget a swimsuit and towel if you wish to get in the springs!

Homemade Babyfood class

This two hour, hands-on workshop will teach you the tips, tricks and guidelines of introducing solid foods to your infant. Topics discussed will cover general nutrition guidelines, when to introduce different types of foods, allergies and reactions in your child to watch for, several methods of preparing and storing your own baby food with hands on practice, and the do’s and don’t’s of infant feeding. Participants will receive a food mill and a collection of baby food recipes. Class will be held at the Child Development Center I, Bldg. 4024. For more information, call 361-7713.
