The Outdoor Recreation Center offers adventures, orientations, guided trips, and clinics to prepare you for an unforgettable adventure in the wild! #WainwrightODR You're in Alaska— explore it! The Outdoor Recreation Center is here to make your outdoor adventure a success! With trips expertly crafted by our skilled guides, you’re sure to head out on a trip of a lifetime. Thinking of venturing off on your own? The Outdoor Recreation Center’s large inventory of outdoor gear available for check-out means you save money while having fun. This season, soak up the sun while on the water! The Outdoor Recreation Center offers paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, and rafts for check out. But first, take the informative Non-Motorized Boater Safety Course and learn about staying safe while in the water. This 15 minute orientation is available every day in the summertime. Did you know that Outdoor Recreation offers half-day and full-day Chena River shuttles? Leave the coordination to us and enjoy your time out on the river. B.O.S.S. Seward Halibut Fishing Trip August 31 – September 3

$145 // Includes transportation, lodging, and a halibut fishing day trip. Service Members will be afforded the opportunity to explore the town on their non-fishing day. Due to the popularity of the trip, SMs will not be allowed to register for the trip without submitting an approved memo and $50 deposit. The trip must be paid for in full 2 weeks prior to the date of the trip, or slot will be forfeited. No refunds will be issued within one week of the trip.

Our golf course superintendent George Howe will get this day for his revenge on the patrons of Chena Bend Golf Course by placing the tee blocks back, tucking the pins and slicking up the greens. Come see if you can get past his tricks!

Get introduced into the world of water with this 2 day camp for kids, ages 7-18. With an introductory first day, the camp finishes off with an adventure on the waters of the Chena River as we float downriver to Fort Wainwright. Registration with Parent Central Services ends on July 13.

F is for Fitness! If you home school, register for Home School PE with CYS Youth Sports & Fitness! Youth ages 5-18 years of age must register monthly for this weekly group. Certified in Youth Functional Training, our CYS Youth Sports & Fitness staff provide an environment that focuses on health, fitness, and a love for physical activity.

Move with Moosercise! We've completely revamped the Moosercise Program here at Fort Wainwright! Now parents are in on the fun, as parents and children (ages 18 months to 5 years old) enjoy physical activities such as yoga, circuit training, obstacle courses, and dance. Moosercise meets six times each month, and is a great way to bond and get movin'! 19

Nitrogen not only lasts longer in your vehicle's tires, it also is less sensitive to temperature pressure changes, improves fuel efficiency by maintaining tire pressure for a longer period of time, and has no moisture or contaminants that can harm your rims, tires, or sensors.

CAR WASH Keep your ride clean after the rainy days with help from the Automotive Skills Center. With covered car wash bays, our self-serve car wash gives you the most bang for your buck. Open 24 hours a day during the summer, stop by anytime!

Family Readiness Group Key Caller Training Wednesday, August 14, 5 – 6 p.m. Key Callers are an integral role in any FRG. This training, hosted by Army Community Service, will teach you how to perform the Key Caller role effectively and efficiently.

Family Readiness Group Treasurer Training Wednesday, August 14, 6 – 7 p.m. Identify resources needed to financially operate an FRG by learning the basics responsibilities of an FRG Treasurer.

FRG CAsualty REsponse (CARE) Training Wednesday, August 15, 1 – 4 p.m. Being ready for a mass casualty, while scary, is necessary. Learn how to handle the pressure and know what to do in an emergency situation with help from Army Community Service. Family

Wednesday, September 5, 2 – 4 p.m. You too can run a super successful FRG. As the FRG Leader, you are responsible for knowing the rules and regulations, communication, and volunteer management. Don't worry; it sounds like a lot, but with Army Community Service's help, you can make it a success!

FINANCIALLY STABLE #WainwrightACS First Term Budget Every Monday, 1 – 3:30 p.m. Set yourself up for success! While mandatory for all incoming Soldiers, Family Members are also welcome to join in on the learning. This Army Community Service course will cover financial readiness within the Army, budgeting, saving, investing and TSP/ BRS, your credit score, bank account management, and more.

MOVING AROUND Newcomer Orientation to Fort Wainwright 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. There is so much to learn when you arrive at Fort Wainwright. While Newcomer Orientation is mandatory for all Soldiers, Family Members are encouraged to attend the orientation and Information Fair at the Last Frontier Community Activity Center in order to better understand Fort Wainwright and the surrounding communities. While at the Information Fair, meet with local organizations and find out how you can become a part of the community.

Smooth Move: How to PCS July 5, August 1, and September 5, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. You don't have to wait until you learn what your next duty station will be in order to be prepared for the move. Discover what is involved in moving, traveling, weight storage, finances, and more. This class is open to all Active Duty and Family Members.
