WHITE MOUNTAINS SNOW MACHINE Dec. 4 | 8 a.m. To 5 p.m. | Participants: Max: 6; Min: 3 Fee: $75 per snow machine driver, $10 for additional passenger Take a snow machine run with the staff to the White Mountains National Recreation Area. Meet at 8 am at the ORC. Trip departs at 8:30 am. We will provide transportation, snow machines and helmets. You bring your lunch, drinks and cold weather clothing. If the temperature drops below -10 degrees we will try to postpone to a warmer date. SNOW MACHINE SAFETY COURSE Dec. 11 | 9 a.m. Age: 18 & older Fee: $10 per person | Participants: Max: 20 This course was created to promote snow machine safety and responsibility while out on the trail. All classes begin at 9 am. An informative class followed by a hands-on practical on the operation of the machine. Participants will be issued a Snow machine Safety Card at the conclusion of the course. This course is required to rent snow machines from the Outdoor Recreation Center. WINTER ICE FISHING Dec. 18 | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee: $65 per person | Participants: Max: 9; Min: 3 Join the ORC Staff for a little ice fishing in our interior lakes. If you are new to ice fishing then here is your chance to see how it’s done. We will provide transportation, rod & reel, bait, ice fishing hut with wood stove and the knowhow to get you started. If the temps drop to -20 degrees or colder we will attempt to postpone to a warmer day. “An Alaska State Fishing License is required!” MACLAREN RIVER LODGE Jan 14-16 (Must Register by Dec. 31) | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee: $329 per person | Participants: Max: 6; Min: 4 Outdoor Recreation will be making two holiday runs this year to Maclaren. The first will be for Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, the second on President’s Day weekend. This is the perfect getaway and a truly Alaskan experience. This program is weather dependent subject to blizzards, white-out conditions and extreme temperatures. Outdoor Recreation will provide transportation, lodging, meals, snow machines and helmets. You Bring Warm boots, cold weather clothing, hand/foot warmers and a good pair of gloves. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Outdoor Recreation is seeking volunteer instructors/guides for our outdoor programs. This includes our boating, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, X/C ski, fishing, tours, ATV and snow machine trips. Dec.17-- Do all Alaskans live in igloos? We know we/they don’t! But let’s learn a little about igloos and then make some with SUGAR CUBES!!! Dec. 31-- What else would we be celebrating today! CPR & FIRST AID FOR YOUTH

December 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the School Age Services Bldg. 4391. Open to participants ages 14 years and older. Come and receive your certification in infant, child, and adult CPR and First Aid. There will be a 30 minute lunch break. Please call to pre-register at 361-7713.

Learn how to soothe your fussy baby in five minutes or less. This two hour class is recommended for anyone who has interest in the well being of infants from birth to 3 months of age. Limited free child care available. For more information or to register, call 361-7372.


CYSS Adult and Youth Babysitter ’s Course This course offers participants certifications in Red Cross CPR for infants, children and adults, Red Cross First Aid, and the 4H Babysitter’s Course. Class locations vary and are open to adults and youth ages 13 and up. Successful completion of the course offers participants the option of being added to the CYSS Babysitter’s List. Classes are located at Youth Center, Bldg. 4109. For more information, call 361-7372. Family and MWR locally funds dividends to Units for the collective benefit of all unit members for off-duty morale, welfare and recreational purposes; all unit members must have the opportunity to participate in the activity supported with unit funds dividends.
