Boater Safety May 19, 1 p.m. Learn the basics of Alaska boating. A Boater Safety Card is issued at the completion of the course and is valid for four years. Card is required to rent watercraft from the ORC.

Denali Day Hike

May 20, 1 p.m. Cost: $5 Get the whole family out as we enjoy a few hours floating on the Chena River. No experience needed and all ages are welcome!

May 25, 9 a.m. Cost: $10 Spend some time hiking with us up the slopes of Mt. Healy, just north of Denali National Park. Be sure to bring water, lunch and snacks! This trail is steep, but well worth the effort.

ATV Safety Course

Just for the Halibut

May 20, 1 – 5 p.m. Age: 18+ This course is required for any of the ATV programs we will be running this summer. *Currently offered for participants signed up for ORC ATV trips only.

Evening Boat Rides May 24, 5:30 p.m. Ride along the Chena River and enjoy nature, spot wildlife, and simply relax. Whether you’re new to Fairbanks or a sourdough, this trip is for you!

Bear Safety Clinic

May 25-27, departs at 8 a.m. reservations must be made by May 11 Cost: $400 Drop anchor in Valdez this summer and spend a day in beautiful Prince William Sound fishing for Alaskan Halibut. Transportation, campground, and Charter Boat is provided. Participants need to bring camping gear, food/ refreshments, and lunch for the trip on the Charter.

Rock Climbing May 27, 9 a.m. Cost: $10 Come on a day trip to one of the nearby climbing sites to try your hand on some real rock! Outdoor recreation provides all climbing equipment including helmets, harnesses, shoes, ropes, belay devices, and carabiners. Be sure to pack your own lunch, snacks, and drinks.


Women In the Wilderness: Chena Float June 2, 9 a.m. Cost: $10 Relax and join us for the first women only trip of the summer season. Bring water and a lunch. Canoes and kayaks are provided.

Quartz Creek ATV Day Trip June 9, 8 a.m. Cost: $75 Venture out to the White Mountains. ATV’s, helmets, and transportation are provided. Bring a lunch, goggles, gloves, over the ankle boots, drink and snacks for the trail, daypack with bungee cord to strap to the ATV. An ATV Safety Course is required prior to the departure date. Family Rock Climbing June 16, 9 a.m. Cost: $10 Spend the day enjoying the fresh air and challenge of rock climbing. No experience necessary! Be sure to bring water, snacks, lunch and active clothing.

Family ½ Day Float June 17, 1 p.m. Cost: $5 Enjoy a few hours floating on the Chena River. Calm water, wildlife and warm summer temperatures make this a great trip. No experience needed and all ages are welcome!

College Glacier Overnight Hike June 23-24, 7 a.m. Cost: $50 Surround yourself with the awesome power of Alaska’s mountains camping overnight at the foot of College Glacier. Transportation, backpacks, camping gear and food are provided.

Alaska Range Mountain Hike June 30, 7 a.m. Cost: $10 This day hike will take you into the mountains where you will see glaciers, soaring mountains and amazing vistas. Bring water, snacks, lunch and your camera.

Apprenticeship Program Fort Wainwright’s HIRED! Apprenticeship program is open to its dependents of active duty, DOD civilian, and retired military personnel.
