The key ingredient in this model begins with individuals who are mobile and flexible. Their inherent motivation combined with appropriate educational and organizational preparation can build their personal capital in three basic forms: 1.

Intellectual capital refers to the individual’s knowledge, skills, understanding, and cognitive complexity. 2. Psychological capital is a set of psychological attributes that enable the individual to function successfully in a variety of settings and leads to them having a strong willingness and motivation to gain experience. 3. Social capital refers to the individual’s ability to build trusting relationships and networks in their professional environments.

These provide the individual with a global mindset. This allows individuals to effectively work within diverse environments. It develops and stimulates intellectual mobility in terms of creativity and skills. This empowers individuals in both their professional and personal lives. A global mindset is becoming more critical than ever before where individual career success is to sought, as well as providing numerous benefits for the organization the people in question work for.

Student academic experience in the United States

The wide variation of tuition charges, as well as living costs, among institutions also enhances students’ shopping for a financial package. This often requires flexibility in selecting from among the affordable and most-desired schools. Some students select the institutions they attend based on their personal locational preferences that have nothing to do

One of the characteristics of the higher educational system in the United States is that it encourages student mobility. This is due to the stratification of institutions, in both tuition costs and perceived prestige, that range from virtual Internet-based proprietary schools, locally-based community colleges, state-supported four-year colleges, regional public universities, numerous types of private colleges and universities, to research-based comprehensive universities with global rankings (note: this is an incomplete list and in no particular order). Potential students have a wide selection on the market for acquiring an academic degree. These choices also allow them to select and change schools in relation to location, cost, and fit with their career objectives. It is common for students to plan ahead to transfer between institutions. For example, a student may begin his/her studies at a low-tuition school located near home, in order to have the basic common course requirements completed, and then transfer to a larger, more expensive, prestigious university that may be distant from, but offers an academic program better meeting individual needs. Such shopping behavior actually encourages mobility and flexibility in the student’s formative years.
