Christmas is in the air! In south Texas we know that we may be wearing shorts on December 25, or we may be wearing our flannel pajamas. Nevertheless, it’s a magical time. The music, lights, and smells are all a part of memories of holidays past and memories in the making.

This month you’re going to meet Steven and Mary Bull. Longtime ‘09ers, they have lived in Alamo Heights for 40 years. In that time, they’ve raised three daughters, traveled the world extensively, and have had parts in theatrical performances too numerous to count. I think you’ll find them to be fascinating people.

There’s a little store in the heart of 78209 full of rich culture. Tressa Castro, the owner, and curator of Nativa has formed relationships with over 500 talented female textile artisans all over Mexico and has empowered them to earn good livings for their families. Their beautiful one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces are available in the store, providing unique gifts and holiday items for some of the special people on your list.

Just down the road a few miles from there is an iconic San Antonio restaurant that has consistently served delicious, authentic Italian food in San Antonio for over 50 years. I remember as a child dining at the original Paesanos restaurant down on McCullough many times with my family. Their famous Shrimp Paesano is just as good today as it was back then.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or another religious holiday, the time spent with family and loved ones celebrating your family’s beliefs and making memories is priceless. It’s also a time of giving to those who are less fortunate. It is when we step outside of our own world and reach out to others that we receive the true blessings.

Festive wreaths are one of the oldest holiday traditions. These beautiful decorations date back to ancient civilizations and have been associated with life, rejuvenation, and renewal.

Some people believe the wreath was meant to represent the crown of thorns worn on the cross, with the red berries meant to be Christ’s blood and that the use of evergreen branches in a wreath signifies eternal life. By hanging one of these on their door, Christians were inviting the spirit of Christ into their home.

Others believe the origin goes back to Ancient Rome, where the wreaths were hung on doors to represent victory.

Another popular theory traces the wreath back to German folklore, where the wreath’s evergreen was used as a symbol of continuity and sustained life in the bleak winter months.

Beignets Coming To 78209

The Beignet Stand, one of the more popular food kiosks at the weekend Pearl Farmers Market over the years, is about to move into its first brick-and-mortar home.

The new restaurant will occupy the former space of Baby Taco Garage at 8343 Broadway, just inside Loop 410. The doors are expected to open within the next month or two.

In a news release on the new venture, co-owner Elisa Treviño said patrons will find the signature beignets, a Louisiana tradition with flaky pastry and plenty of powdered

sugar, in multiple flavors, but the stand also will serve a burger, chicken sandwich and coffee.

Treviño’s husband and co-owner/chef, Michael Grimes, is known for his twists on beignets. During their tenure at the Pearl, which they intend to continue on Saturdays and Sundays, Grimes developed a new flavor each week — Oreo tiramisu; peanut butter pumpkin cheesecake; one made with pretzels, mustard and wheat beer; and more than 300 other flavors.

San Antonio Zoo Welcomes Newly Hatched Komodo Dragons

There is great news at the San Antonio Zoo in the world-wide battle to save the Komodo Dragon from extinction.

There are over 3,000 lizard species, but the Komodo dragon wins the prize for being the largest living lizard in the world. It is a type of monitor lizard, an ancient group of reptiles with ancestors that date back more than 100 million years.

According to the San Antonio Zoo, in 2021 Komodo dragons were downgraded from Vulnerable to Endangered, with less than 1,400 mature individuals left in the world. The species is at risk due to their limited habitat range consisting of six islands in southern Indonesia, with most of the population living on Komodo Island. While the populations are currently stable, they are at risk due to limitations of the habitat range, development that consumes habitat, and the impending threat of habitat loss from climate change as ocean water levels continue to rise.

The hatching of 10 Komodo dragons between October 17 and October 27 includes two boys, four girls, and four yet to be determined dragons. Tim Morrow, President & CEO of the San Antonio Zoo, said, “This monumental hatching is a testament to the zoo’s persistence and commitment to conservation. The hatchlings are thriving, and we are looking forward to watching them grow and help preserve the existence of Komodo dragons.”

This hatching results from a successful collaboration between two Komodo dragon SSP (species survival program) institutions. The mother, Kristika, resides at the San Antonio Zoo. The sire, Boga, lives at the Houston Zoo. Last winter, Boga successfully bred with Kristika, which resulted in eggs being laid on March 8, 2021. Incubation ranged from 223-233 days for this clutch.

Alamo Heights Rotary December/January Calendar Packed

The 18th annual Alamo Heights Rotary (AH) Holiday Decoration Contest is underway. Residents in Alamo Heights will be recognized for the best decorated homes.

Every year during the middle of December (this year from 15-18 December), AH Rotary club members will be driving around every residential street in Alamo Heights and judging the holiday decorations. All single-family homes in the city limits of Alamo Heights are eligible and there is no need to submit an application.

First, second, and third place will be awarded with “Sparkle of the Season Award” yard signs along with a small gif t.

As the Club does all through the year, members will be delivering lunch meals to homebound seniors every week during December and January.

The three mini-libraries the club built and installed at Howard Early Childhood Center, Woodridge Elementary, and Cambridge Elementary a few months ago have been put to good use by local residents. These mini-libraries make a wide variety of family friendly books available to everyone in the area. Hundreds of books have been borrowed and returned. Club members will be checking and restocking the books every week during December and January. Anyone with family friendly books for any age may donate them by dropping them off at any time.

As part of a larger scholarship program, the Alamo Heights

Rotary Club will begin accepting applications for $3000 academic scholarships from Class of 2022 San Antonio high school graduates for school year 2022-2023. Selections are made by committee review evaluating individual scholarship, leadership, community service, hardship, work experience and personal accomplishments.

Instructions and the application form will be posted on alamoheightsrotary.org in early January.

Rotary believes in developing the next generation of leaders. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where participants develop their skills as a leader while having fun, making connections, expanding their education, and learning the value of service.

January 14-17, 2022 is the district’s annual RYLA weekend which is a youth leadership training weekend held each year at the John Newcomb Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels. Invited junior high students from all over San Antonio and South Texas will be in attendance. The entire weekend will be led by teen peer leaders. It is filled with hands on interactive programs stressing communication, team building and attitude. There is no cost to participate.

Ron Greenberg, a member of the Alamo Heights Rotary Club has overseen this program for over 45 years and many other club members assist and participate in the program.

Alamo Heights Optimists Holiday Trees Back Again

The annual Optimist Christmas Tree Lot on the corner of Austin Hwy and Broadway will be back again this year. Optimist Club’s Kevin Kiser told 78209, “We have been there every year since 1954.”

He said, “We will open for business the day after Thanksgiving until we sell out.”

The lot will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am until 8 pm. Kiser said, “One hundred percent of the money we make goes to charity. We do not keep any of it, unlike our competitors who work strictly for profit.“

He said the lot will feature Noble firs, Douglas firs and Nordmann firs. “They come to us direct from Salem Oregon and are all USDA grade 1 trees.”

Alamo Heights Chamber Luncheon

The speaker for this month’s Alamo Heights Chamber luncheon was Mike Cameron with Devil’s River Whiskey. The luncheons are held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at Paesano’s in Lincoln Heights.

Everywhere you look in San Antonio, you will see the influence of Mexico. From the cuisine to the architecture, Mexican culture is ingrained in our identity. We celebrate the holidays, and embrace the lifestyle, but there is one local lady who is building a legacy bringing the most beautiful clothing, accessories, and household gifts directly from Mexican artisans to Alamo Heights and the rest of the country.

Nativa is a Mexican lifestyle brand and boutique created by owner and curator, Tressa Castro. Tressa was born in Montréal, but grew up in Cuernavaca, Mexico. She first came to San Antonio to allow her son to study English, and the family split their time between the two countries, eventually buying a home here. She would often host her son’s friends in Mexico and loved helping them find unique and handmade gifts to take home to their mothers. This is how her idea grew into a lucrative business. Nativa is a woman owned enterprise which contracts and works with female artisans all over Mexico. Every single item in the shop is hand-sewn and hand-stitched with embroidery and beading designs and techniques representing every state in Mexico. From the elaborate and colorful designs native to Chiapas, to the detailed pleating and fine stitching of the guayaberas from Yucatan, shoppers will marvel at the details as they imagine the work that goes into every item.

Tressa works closely with over 500 artisans across Mexico, and she beams with sincere pride as she describes, “Every stitch has a face to it. We empower women with unique talents, helping them to earn a good living for their families, and supporting the suppliers and businesses within their

own communities. Everything at Nativa is made by someone we know.”

Although there are many hurdles to overcome when importing from Mexico, Tressa remains committed to her artisans and the authenticity of the clothing and accessories at Nativa. The business operates as a proud member of both the Fair Trade Federation and the Museum Store Association, supplying authentic gifts and accessories to museums featuring Mexican art around the world. As a Fair Trade business, Nativa creates opportunities for the artisans that supply the inventory, and in turn keeps regional artistic traditions alive.

When you step through the front door and into the home of Steven and Mary Bull, it is like you have been invited to view a very exclusive exhibit at a private museum. Everywhere you look, there is a unique collection of tchotchkes and trinkets collected from their travels around the world. Steven is most proud of his collection of Fabergé eggs and painted Russian boxes, but if you take the time to look around, there is something unique to see on every shelf and in every nook and cranny.

Mary and Steven are easy-going and friendly, and they love to talk about their travels, their theatre, musical experiences, and their three daughters. The eldest daughter, Ellen (35), has a master’s degree in Art History and currently lives in New Orleans working on film projects with her partner, Thomas. Emily (33) is married to Barrett Schmidt and lives in San Antonio. She is currently the Director of Development for Rice University. She holds a master’s degree in International Social Work, which has allowed her to travel the world extensively to places like Tanzania. Their youngest daughter, Stephanie (29), graduated from Texas Lutheran University with a degree in Vocal Performance and currently lives in Seattle with her husband, Ben, the Managing Director at Youth Theatre Northwest. Stephanie is also pregnant with the Bulls’ first grandchild, and the soon-to-be grandparents couldn’t be more excited.

Mary was born and raised in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and moved to San Antonio when she received a full scholarship to Trinity University to study music and history. When Steven asked Mary where she would like to live in the city to begin their life together, Mary said that she always loved the community of Alamo Heights because it reminded her of her hometown. Mary says, “I loved the way that Alamo Heights would string up lights for the holidays. It reminded me of Okmulgee’s town square, and everyone seemed so nice and welcoming.”

The Bulls have lived in their current home for the past 22 years. Steven works as an Interior Designer for Star Furniture and has clients throughout the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and the U.K. Mary is a Marketing Consultant for Major Accounts at Sinclair Broadcast Group. Together they have built a life in the Alamo Heights area for 40 years. Although they are empty-nesters, they share their beautiful home with an incredibly sweet German Shorthaired Pointer named Tallulah, whom they found running down the alleyway behind their house about six years ago.

Steven was born in Washington, D.C., where his father was an officer in the Air Force Diplomatic Corps before retiring in San Antonio. He was a member of The Flying Tigers in World War II and then married Steven’s mother. Steven attended San Antonio Academy, and T.M.I., before heading north to attend Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He returned to San Antonio after graduation and met Mary working at

The couple reminisces about raising their family in an established neighborhood, where the girls could walk to school, and that no matter where you go, you always see someone you know. They still feel the same way today, and although their daughters are grown, they stay in the area for the same reasons that drew them there when they were newlyweds.

Both Steven and Mary have also had quite a career in the arts community in San Antonio. Steven has been in over 100 productions. He cites his favorite roles as The Prince in “Into the Woods” and John Jasper in “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.” Mary has also had a notable career on stage at several community theatre playhouses. She is an active member of The River City Ringers, a community handbell choir that performs holiday and seasonal concerts in San Antonio and surrounding communities. The group was even scouted to audition for “America’s Got Talent” in 2019.

Throughout their 40-year marriage, the Bulls have seen the city grow and change. However, the tight-knit community where they chose to raise their children still holds their heart and history, and they intend to share their home with their grandchildren and future museum collections for many years to come.

Olmos Park Battling CPS Energy Over Outages

Sporadic electric outages have been plaguing Olmos Park for several months. CPS Energy had failed to explain why the outages are occurring, until recently.

The company says outages were due to vegetation – trees impacting power lines. The wet weather contributed to tree growth, CPS spokesperson told me. The company has been cutting back vegetation throughout the city.

City Manager Celia Deleon told 78209 Magazine they had scheduled a public meeting with CPS to let citizens question company executives on the matter at the October 20 city council meeting. But electric company officials backed out of that session.

Now, Deleon says, “They are returning to a council meeting next week to continue the conversation and, hopefully, to answer some of the residents and council members’ questions.”

AHISD Voters Overwhelmingly Approve Tax Rate Change

On November 2, AHISD’s voters approved the tax rate change with a 72% approval rate. The vote was 2,194 – yes, and 867 – no.

The measure will provide an additional $1.4 million to allow the district to offer competitive salaries for its employees and educational programming for students.

“Our community is overwhelmingly united in supporting our incredible AHISD teachers and staff as well as the extraordinary educational programs that support all of our students. This new tax rate will ultimately result in district efforts to maintain competitive staff salaries and those programs that support the individual needs of

our AHISD students. As always, I’m proud to serve this supportive community,” Dr. Dana Bashara, Superintendent of Schools, said.

The measure will boost Alamo Heights’ local revenue through a slight increase in the district’s tax rate for operating schools, without increasing the overall tax rate, thanks to a decrease in the tax rate that pays back bonds. The tax rate change will allow AHISD to make chunks of its property tax revenue, nicknamed “golden pennies,” unrecapturable – exempt from Robin Hood. In total, the district has sent $622 million back to the state through Robin Hood.

Offers Holiday Tips

A holiday reminder from the Terrell Hills Police Department. As the Christmas Holiday rapidly approaches, we encourage residents to consider the following crime deterrent tips:

1) Do not leave valuables in plain view inside your vehicle. Ideally, it would be helpful to take valuables out of your car and lock the vehicle; however, if this is not possible or you elect not to, at the very least hide items from direct observation and secure the car as best you can.

2) If you have door cameras or other popular surveillance cameras, ensure they are functioning and monitor them when you get alerts. You may see suspicious activity through them and be able to notify the police quickly.

3) If you have deliveries coming to your residence, you should seek the help of trusted neighbors to take packages and hold them for you if you are away. Many vendor websites allow you to specify delivery instructions when placing an order. If you have this option, consider leaving specific instructions to place the packages in a location not visible from the street.

4) As always, notify the police immediately if you observe anything suspicious.

MULE TRAINERS EARN NATIONAL RECOGNITION

The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Safe Sports School Award Program recognizes high schools that prioritize keeping young athletes safe. Alamo Heights High School is the recipient of the NATA Safe Sports School award for its Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Program. The award champions safety and recognizes secondary schools that have met the recommended standards to improve safety in sports. The award reinforces the importance of providing the best level of care, injury prevention, and treatment.

“Alamo Heights HS is honored to receive this 1st Team recognition from NATA,” said Head Athletic Trainer Chris Smith. “We remain committed to keeping our student athletes safe during athletic periods, team practices, and games so they can accomplish their own goals of great competition, winning records, fair sportsmanship, and good health. Our goal is to lead our athletics program to the highest safety standards for our players.”

“We’re proud and supportive of all that our athletic trainers do for our student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Ron Rittimann. “Chris and Sam spend countless hours thinking of innovative ways to keep our athletes safe, while overseeing an immersive student aid program. In order to achieve Safe Sports School status, as AHHS did, athletic programs must do the following:

● Create a positive athletic health care administrative system

● Provide or coordinate pre-participation physical examinations

● Promote safe and appropriate practice and competition facilities

● Plan for selection, fit function and proper maintenance of athletic equipment

● Provide a permanent, appropriately equipped area to evaluate and treat injured athletes

● Develop injury and illness prevention strategies, including protocols for environmental conditions

● Provide or facilitate injury intervention

● Create and rehearse a venue-specific Emergency Action Plan

● Provide or facilitate psychosocial consultation and nutritional counseling/education

● Be sure athletes and parents are educated about the potential benefits and risks in sports as well as their responsibilities

The AHISD Sports Medicine Program overseen by Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainers oversees the direct healthcare of all Mule athletes competing in the district. Alamo Heights High School broadcast students Dylan Corso, Olivia Humphries, Ian Donahue, Amalisa Rodriquez, and Dietric Lozano, under the leadership of John Munoz, Career & Technology Education (CTE) Teacher, produce the football games, capturing the action from run-through to coin toss, presentation of the colors by the JROTC, half-time show by the band, cheerleaders and Spurs dance team, to the final countdown of the clock, final score and team celebrations.

These broadcast students have worked behind the scenes at AHHS for years together, producing Mule Tube news and segments under the direction of Ann Carter, CTE Teacher. Working with the latest gear and gadgets, these students are producing work that is equitable or exceeding current industry standards.

They are often called upon to share their talents in theater productions. These same students have designed and built sets, created lighting configurations, run audio and produced entire theater performances under the leadership of Bryan Stanton, AHHS Theater Teacher.

We are grateful for their talent and the time they share to finetune their craft so we can simply enjoy the show.

MULES INVITED TO PLAY IN 2022 SAN ANTONIO SPORTS ALL-STAR FOOTBALL GAME

115 student athletes representing 61 high schools have been chosen for the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game, presented by H-E-B which will showcase top local high school players on Saturday, January 8 at the Alamodome. It’s the 44th anniversary of the game, in which the area’s top senior players will take the field at 5 p.m. The game follows the All-American Bowl which kicks off at noon.

Johnson High School’s head football coach Mark Soto will coach the Black, and Ricky Lock, from Southside High School, will coach the Gold. Players were nominated by their high school coaches. 98 were named to All-District teams last year. In addition to physical skills, players who are All-Stars reflect perseverance, character and inner strength.

The San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game, presented by H-E-B, will feature players who are committed to play for some of the top universities in the country as well as those looking for an additional chance to impress college scouts with potential scholarships to offer. 63 who were in the 2021 All-Star Game signed to play college football, with 25 going to NCAA DI schools, including six committing to University of the Incarnate Word and five to UTSA.

Team Gold won the 2021 San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game presented by H-E-B with a convincing 44-31 win over Team Black, scoring 44 straight points after trailing 17-0 in the first quarter.

San Antonio loves high school football, and game day will be an incredible showcase of high school football talent.

SMH STUDENT ONE OF SIX IN THE WORLD TO ACHIEVE PERFECT AP SCORE

The odds of earning a perfect score on an Advanced Placement (AP) exam are slim; in fact, they are .000015%. Only six students in the world achieved this feat on the AP U.S. History Exam last school year, less than the number of astronauts who have landed on the moon – and Saint Mary’s Hall (SMH) student Nicholas Campos ‘22 was one.

Out of 399,676 tests that were administered to juniors in high school, Campos received word in October from the College Board that he correctly answered every multiplechoice question and five essays with a perfect score of 5, earning every point possible on this challenging, collegelevel examination. The achievement also marks the first time in school history a student has received a perfect score on the exam.

“To earn a perfect score is extraordinary!” said SMH Social Studies Instructor Mark Remington. “It shows Nicholas’ love

of history as well as his strong work ethic, his dedication to excellence, and his focus.”

“My love for history was probably inspired in Form 3 Teacher Amy Hetrick’s class,” Campos recalls. “Learning about the two World Wars was the most engaging thing I had ever heard and that is when I knew I wanted to learn a lot more about what caused past events.”

At SMH, Campos plays varsity lacrosse and is a me mber of the Student Council, Student Investment Group, and the Bowling Team. He is a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist and he has received four President’s Volunteer Service Awards (Gold Level) in recognition of his service to the community. He aims to study international relations in college and pursue a career in international development, hoping to work for a global nonprofit someday.

Measuring the true value of a visit from a calm engaging animal is difficult in scientific terms; but all you have to do is see the difference it can make in a person’s day, and, sometimes, in their life to know it’s a priceless gift. This is especially true for the many perople who are living in retirement communities, who may be hospitalized, or are challenged by life events and may no longer be able to share their lives with a pet companion. Consider the individual in a retirement community who shared with a visiting animal therapy team that the opportunity to hug and cuddle a visiting dog was the only time she experienced loving contact with another living being; or the pure joy and fun of sharing a holiday event with an enthusiastic group of therapy animal teams.

We seek animal’s presence in our lives. They “get” us, they don’t judge us. Our inadequacies disappear and we are whole with them. The results of the 2021-2022 American Pet Products Association’s National Pet Owners Survey report that 70 percent of U.S. households, or 90.5 million homes, own a pet. It is not surprising that 99 percent of people speak to their pets and 70-87 percent consider

their pets to be family (Beck, Katcher, 1996). Animals are spontaneous, honest and accepting in their interactions with us. Petting a friendly animal can lower blood pressure, decrease the stress hormone cortisol, stimulate calming serotonin, and help us focus outside of ourselves which in turn can decrease anxiety, pain and confusion or help pull us back into the present. An animal therapy team visiting with an unresponsive child in intensive care placed the child’s hand on her animal and the child slowly opened her eyes and begin petting her cat. It was the first indication that she was going to recover; and, for her parents, it was the first spark of hope after suffering a devastating automobile accident.

Therapy Animals of San Antonio (TASA) is a non-profit volunteer organization that has provided registered animal therapy teams to community members across the greater San Antonio area since 1989. We serve over one hundred facilities and organizations though therapy team visits, student centered literacy programs in area schools, community education, mentoring, collaboration with public and private organizations that provide services

to vulnerable persons, and participation in area school’s critical incident responses.

TASA teams change lives and make everyone’s day better. A gentleman recounts the visit he had with an animal therapy team during a long difficult stay in critical care at a point when he was ready to give up. The visit made him remember how much he missed his dog at home, giving him the will to fight to reclaim his life.

Young children giggle and eagerly engage in dental hygiene lessons by brushing a therapy dog’s teeth. People dealing with loss find the courage to voice their sorrow while holding on to one of our dogs. People in a facility day room laugh together and participate in a therapy animal’s interactions.

Our visits are not always dramatic, but the smiles, increased connections made, gentle touch, laughter and shared memories are real and lasting moments of comfort and joy for those involved and we are privileged to share those moments with them.

In today’s society, consumers have become very fickle. It’s amazing when a restaurant survives for five years, but it is astonishing when one continues to feed generations for over 50 years.

2019 marked the 50th anniversary of Paesanos restaurant, and it has become a beloved San Antonio icon, consistently serving delicious Italian fare in the heart of Alamo Heights since 1996. The restaurant was started in 1969 by Joe Cosniac and Nick Pacelli, following the 1968 HemisFair. The partners wanted to create a true neighborhood trattoria serving fine Italian cuisine, and they found their spot in an old house that had been used as a barber shop on McCullough, just north of downtown.

Joe ran the front of house, greeting customers by name when they walked through the door, and Nick ran the kitchen turning out plate after plate of their signature dishes. Their partnership was very successful, and in 1996 they expanded and moved the restaurant to a newly developed shopping center on Basse Road. Since then, Paesanos has become an institution for power lunches, family celebrations, and gatherings with good friends.

The restaurant features an extensive menu of Italian favorites and signature specialties. In fact, you can’t really call yourself a San Antonian unless you’ve experienced their famous Shrimp Paesano, but there is so much more to discover on the menu, including their seasonal and daily specials. One recent menu addition had the entire table reaching for a portion of their delicious Bruschetta, with fresh tomato, mozzarella, and basil layered atop crispy, toasted slices of ciabatta bread, and drizzled with olive oil.

Paesanos also features the freshest seafood, and their Salmon Avocado special is just one outstanding example of how much talent is in the kitchen. A hearty portion of fresh salmon is grilled to

perfection and topped with avocado slices and mozzarella. It is then flash broiled and topped with a velvety white wine butter and caper sauce, and served with sautéed spinach. However, if that is not luxurious enough for you, then order the Lobster Paesano. Here, the chef takes a fresh lobster tail and lightly dusts it with flour and seasoning. It is pan fried quickly, so that it is just crispy enough on the outside. It is then returned atop its shell and served over spaghetti and sautéed spinach bathed in delicate and buttery Paesano sauce. This dish is truly decadence at its finest.

Paesanos Restaurant now has three San Antonio locations. Their downtown restaurant is located on the Riverwalk, allowing visitors from around the world to discover this hometown gem. The Northwest Paesanos is located off 1604 between N.W. Military and Bitters, and features a large outdoor patio with a beautiful koi pond. However, the Lincoln Heights restaurant is the flagship location and will continue to greet diners with the same warm hospitality that Joe built his reputation on over 50 years ago.

The restaurant is open seven days a week, and although they do take walk-in diners, reservations are recommended for large parties or special events. The restaurant also features two spacious event rooms that look out over The Quarry Golf Course, and are available for private events and corporate meetings hosting up to 100 people.
