The canyon itself is a scenic wonderland of orange, rose and tan sandstone outcroppings, including the dazzling Bryce Amphitheater, which features a forest of rock pinnacles called hoodoos that have been intricately carved by countless centuries of wind and rain. Begin your exploration with a shared trail ride on horseback, accompanied by local cowboys well-versed in the park’s extraordinary history and geology. Set in the south-central desert, the park surrounds a long wrinkle in the earth called Waterpocket Fold, with layers of golden sandstone, canyons and amazing rock formations.
