Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, The bush of Alaska is home to majestic mountains, glaciers, active volcanoes, huge tracks of wilderness, and some of the planet’s most fabled fishing. Alaska, interestingly enough, has both the easternmost and westernmost points longitudinally of any state in our great nation. The awe factor is never ending as you travel this massive state. Barry and Cathy Beck will host another great week of fishing at Reel Action Alaska Lodge on the celebrated Kanektok River in Alaska. With its combination of salmon species and its exceptional clarity, the Kanektok is hailed as one of the best rivers anywhere to target rainbow trout and silver salmon on the fly. The Kanektok River flows 110 miles from its headwaters at Kagati Lake, through the 4.5 million acre Togiak Wilderness Reserve, and on to the Bering Sea. The river is home to Alaskan “Leopard Bows,” a spectacularly colored rainbow trout named for the amazing abundance of spots that cover its body. These wild rainbows grow to trophy size and are available throughout the season both in the main river and the many tributaries. Other resident species include Arctic char, dolly varden, and grayling. The fishing for silver salmon on the Kanektok is some of the best Alaska has to offer. The river is the perfect size for easy casting, and the water is easy to read. You can fish various methods on the Kanektok, and you will find each of them successful. These include surface poppers for slivers and skated mouse patterns for aggressive leopard rainbows. This is the perfect river to accommodate each angler’s chosen technique from single handed rods to switch rods or spey rods. Water clarity is superb which makes the presentation of a fly successful. Barry and Cathy Beck’s departure to Reel Action Alaska Lodge is a sevennight stay on the camp just outside the native community of Quinhagak. The camp sits directly on the Kanektok River offering miles of productive salmon and trout waters via jet boat. The trip offers terrific silver salmon action, both surface and subsurface, and fantastic trout fishing using differing methods, including skated mouse patterns. Sincerely,

Tom Gilliland Alaska Program Manager

What to Expect

• This is a fly fishing only lodge, and the targeted species for the week are dime bright silver salmon and leopard rainbow trout. Expect ample opportunities for surface action including poppers for silvers and skated mouse patterns for aggressive rainbows. Dolly varden and grayling are also available in this week. • Single-occupancy heated tent cabins are the standard accommodation. A rarity in Alaska, this allows full privacy and comfort with plenty of room to spread out. This will be your private sanctuary for the week. • The lodge has special use permits for the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge and Wilderness Area. Fish where few others have ever wet a line.
