WELCOMING

you TO THE

CEO of TOURISM WA The 15th annual Fremantle Street Arts Festival will inspire and entertain more than 100,000 people with a dynamic mix of performances ranging from comedy and circus acts to acrobats and cabaret.

As Australia’s largest street arts festival, the program boasts more than 30 of the world’s best street performers from the UK, Canada, Belgium, Spain, USA and Ireland. Every year the festival attracts new international talent and this year is no different. French artists Bilbobasso will headline the 2013 festival with a visually stunning performance featuring fire and tango, and Vhils, a Portuguese graffiti and street artist, will create his own portrait of a historical figure from Fremantle at the iconic Norfolk Hotel.

Tourism Western Australia, through Eventscorp, is a proud sponsor of the Fremantle Street Arts Festival. The festival not only attracts visitors to Fremantle, but also adds vibrancy to the city. In addition, last year’s festival injected around $3.7 million into the economy, which is a fantastic result and a great boost to local businesses. Fremantle is an extraordinary destination, renowned for its rich culture, laidback atmosphere, heritage buildings and fascinating maritime and convict history. I hope you all enjoy the festival and take time to explore this exciting and vibrant city. STEPHANIE BUCKLAND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER TOURISM WESTERN AUSTRALIA

MAYOR of FREMANTLE How time flies!

With the memories of last year’s Fremantle Street Arts Festival fresh in our minds, the City is now gearing up for the latest instalment of our now famous, some would even say infamous, street arts festival. The City has again scoured the globe to bring you some of the most acclaimed street performers in the world, headlined by French act Bilbobasso: Polar. We also have a diverse array of other local and international performers that will entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even shock you.

A couple of other highlights this year (there truly are too many to mention all of them!) include workshops for local performers with Spare Parts Puppet Theatre; and Italian act Le Due E Un Quarto, which will see puppet babies careening prams through the streets, surprising people with their mischievous antics. The City is again very proud to be presenting the Fremantle Street Arts Festival, which has grown to become Australia’s premier street art festival and has won worldwide recognition. I look forward to another huge crowd this year for what promises to again be one of the highlights of the City of Fremantle’s 2013 event calendar. DR BRAD PETTITT MAYOR OF FREMANTLE
