New Brunswick’s capital city is celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday all week long! From hosting both Les Jeux de l’Acadie and Animaritime to free downtown concerts, Bard in the Barracks Theatre and MALA. On June 30 & July 1st join us downtown for two days of free entertainment featuring headliners Measha Brueggergosman, The Glorious Sons, I Mother Earth, Les Hay Babies and more! Round out Canada Day with the city’s largest fireworks display over the Saint John River!

MALA

The stories of New Brunswick

MALA is a Mi’kmaq word that means “where I’m from”. In a dynamic multimedia presentation, the facade of the Legislature comes to life in Mala, an evocative and vibrant journey through our collective identity. Shaped by the winds of history and rocked by the waves of memory, Mala reaffirms our shared histories, reveals the richness of our spirit and celebrate our successes and our ingenuity. Mala is presented at dusk from June 21st to July 1st, July 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, 27-29 and August 3-7.

FREE Changing of the Guard – DAILY Fredericton’s vibrant past comes to life in the Historic Garrison District. Period dressed Ceremonial Guards represent the establishment of the Infantry School Corps, Company “A”, and celebrate the birthplace of the Canadian Army through daily re-enactments and drill ceremonies to the sounds of a piper and drummer. FREE Guided Heritage Walking Tours – DAILY Costumed tour guides entertain you with local history and folklore on a free walking tour of Fredericton’s historic sites.
