Love to take pictures? Then snap to it and win some prizes. Back by popular demand: To celebrate Teen Tech Week FVRL is running a photo contest for the entire month of March. Take as many photos as you like, but submit your favourite five. Each photograph should fall under one of the following categories: Book It — Love to read? Then send us a pic of you in the library, reading by flashlight, whatever. Show us! It’s Elemental — From rocks to bugs to sunsets. Wow us with your nature shots! Urban Life — Skyscrapers, street scenes, sneakers on a wire. Snap it! Wild Card — Be creative. If it doesn’t fit in the other categories, it fits here!
Read My Lips — Take a photo and add speech bubbles. Make it funny, make it poignant, make it whatever you want! If you’re age 13 to 19 and live or work in the FVRL area then you’re eligible to enter. Like us on Facebook and submit your photos. It’s that easy. Contest opens March 1 and closes March 31, 2013.
DO YOU LIKE SURPRISES? ARE YOU ADVENTUROUS ENOUGH TO CHECK OUT A BAG OF BOOKS SIGHT UNSEEN? IF YOU ANSWER YES, THEN YOUR BOOKS ARE READY! All FVRL locations will be offering Grab ’N Go book bags in the new year! Available for children, teens and adults, these bags are offered in many different genres like action/adventure, Canadiana, popular fiction, romance, science fiction and more! Inside each are multiple books preselected by library staff to save you time. Read one or read them all! Then when you are done, return them through the book drop as usual.
