The MCO – renowned for its passion and creativity – was founded in 1997 with the shared vision of being a free and international ensemble. The orchestra is a nomadic collective of exceptional musicians, with 45 members of the core ensemble spanning 20 different countries and uniting for specific tours in Europe and across the world. On the move for close to 180 days a year, the MCO has so far performed in 35 countries across 5 continents. It is governed collectively by its management team and orchestra board, and decisions are made democratically with the participation of all musicians.
FRIEND CIRCLE Since 2000, our Friend Circle has been widening to all corners of the globe. We are immensely grateful to our Friends for their support. As a Friend your contributions go toward funding the day-to-day costs of being a touring orchestra – you help us fund things like new instruments, repairs, sheet music, and transport cases.

We consider our Friend Circle to be true friends! They attend rehearsals, meet us in person, and get the inside scoop on what we’re working on. As a Friend you are also invited to attend regular Friends Meetings, where like-minded MCO supporters meet up to interchange and enjoy musical, culinary and cultural experiences.
EXPLORER CIRCLE This is for all of you innovative, unconventional classical music lovers! Explorer Circle members stand behind our most cutting-edge projects – the ones that redefine classical music. Your participation in our Explorer Circle keeps our liveliest projects running throughout the year – from the MCO’s “Long Nights,” with their entertaining mix of performances that last into the midnight hours, to collaborations between MCO musicians and dance companies, DJs and performance artists. Our Explorers support us in furthering the activities and global learning projects that make us absolutely unique as an orchestra. The Explorer Circle takes you and a friend to the heart of the MCO, with access to the musicians themselves. You are invited to attend rehearsals, private concert intros given by the musicians, and to join us for our exciting Explorer Weekends.

PATRON CIRCLE We love playing at Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic and Suntory Hall – and concerts in these spectacular venues boost our opportunities as a global orchestra. Our aim is to bring a new kind of orchestra to the world, but concert fees alone cannot support our fearless mission. To fuel and propel our large, high-profile orchestra projects, we rely on the generous support, advice and professional networks of our Patrons. It is you who help us continue to take classical music in a new and exciting direction. Your exceptional level of support makes you a part of our very organisation. We welcome you into our inner circle, offering you innumerable member benefits and special privileges. You are invited to post-concert dinners with conductors and soloists and encouraged to make special requests for involvement with our orchestra.
SILVER PATRON Silver Patrons enjoy all the benefits granted to members of every other circle, as well as a special open invitation for 2 to all orchestra activities, private events with MCO musicians and exclusive dinners. The MCO Foundation was founded in 2008 to support the orchestra’s musicians, dynamic musical projects and diverse educational initiatives across Europe. Its mission is to bring the MCO’s unique vision of classical music to the world. The Foundation houses our Friend, Explorer and Patron Circles and is infused by the generous donations of supporters across the globe. It gives us the support we need to play far and wide, and to continue to boost the careers of talented young musicians.
