he economic tough times Greece has endured recently may have put the ancient nation in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, but it has done nothing to deter a flood of celebrities showing their support for the beleaguered country. Some have gone on holiday there; others have purchased houses in Greece; one loved-up couple is on honeymoon, and a multi-Oscar nominee has even bought a Greek Island! A range of Hollywood A-listers and pop stars have shown their support for Greece’s troubles by joining a social media campaign, with the Twitter hashtag, #seeyouinGreece. Foster, Gerard Butler, Ethan Hawke, and screen veterans Michael Douglas and Robert Redford. Greek-Canadian actress and star of My Big Fat Greek Wedding Nia Vardalos has created her own social media campaign on Instagram to highlight the beauty of Greece. Recent reports also claim Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will soon also own a little piece of Greece, as they’ve been looking at the secluded island of Gaia in the Ionian Sea for their family getaways. Mykonos is Greece’s famous party island. With its exciting nightlife, famous clubs and bars it’s party time all day, every day and is a favourite destination for many of the rich and famous. This year has seen a host of celebrities, including Katy Perry and Lindsay Lohan, soaking up the atmosphere and the Greek sun. Katy Perry, taking a wellearned break from her Prismatic World Tour, had been seen in June relaxing in the Mediterranean with her family, including her older sister, Angela Hudson, and baby niece. According to her social media posts, Mykonos and Santorini were faves! Lindsay Lohan spent four days in Mykonos in July, making a big splash in the international media as she swam in the pristine waters of Psarou Beach during the days and made the most of the party scene at night.
