RESTAURANT REVIEW By Denise Monroe

Galvan’s Sausage House 1924 Hwy. 90A (near Pitts Rd.) Richmond, TX Cuisine: Homemade Sausage, Brisket, Ribs and Boudin Folks, this may be the bestkept secret in Fort Bend County. A very unassuming place tucked in a small, red, woodframed building with no more than five tables in it. Across the dirt driveway is an outdoor covered area where firewood is sold and meats are smoked

in barbecue pits. This is an obvious mom & pop business that, based on the steady stream of customers that come in to pick up orders or stay to eat, is popular among the locals. There you will see Mr. Galvan who prepares & smokes the meats himself. His significant other takes your order. They specialize in sausage and boudin, but the brisket and ribs are very good as well. All of these are offered prepared and hot, or

AN URBAN MYTH is circulating the Sugar Land area. If you have received a “forward” OR an Email OR overheard a “situation” that really sounds OVER THE TOP just disregard. OR CALL THE POLICE NON EMERGENCY NUMBER: Ask for a dispatcher and report what you have heard. CYPRESS POINT ENTRANCE @ Cartwright: A resident, who lives on this street is requesting more updates and flowers for their median where the monument sign stands. “WITH THE EYES OF A STRANGER”: The next time you turn on to your street just pretend you are “houseshopping”. Check out the appearance of the street as it pertains to the houses and front yards. When you pull up in front of your house ask yourself this question: “Does my house have “curb appeal?” As you stand outside your front door give this area a careful “look”. Does your front porch look clean, and your front door look shinny & bright? Do you receive a colorful “greeting” from “real” plants OR the ones you can buy that do not need pruning or watering? REMEMBER: A “FIRST IMPRESSION” IS A “LASTING” IMPRESSION:

Do not flunk this “quiz”, especially if you are expecting company (Like your in-laws) or your house is for sale. The sides were canned or, for the most part, not prepared in-house. The quality of the barbecue rates right up there with the best, but other rivals beat them out on the sides. Overall, if I wanted good barbecue to take home, this

would be my “go to” place and I like being able to get the boudin to go with it. Overall Rating: 4 stars. If you have a favorite recipe you would like to share, please submit to denise@fortbendstar. com for consideration.

it is easy to eat and cut. It was juicy and had an excellent flavor, as did the pork boudin. The brisket was excellent, although the pieces served were a bit fatty. It had a full-bodied smoke flavor without a bitter after-taste. And the sauce was very good also.
