Largest dealership in Houston market gives back as it grows

Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land continues investments in local community

A

s Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land grows, so does their giving footprint and investment within the local community. Over the past 10 years, MBSL has partnered with well over 20 community groups, schools and non-profit organizations, culminating in over a $2M investment directly benefiting the local area. “Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land has been a proud supporter of the Fort Bend community since our inception,” said Ken Enders, Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Owner and President. “We view giving back to Sugar Land as well as the local areas we support as our way of serving the community where we live and work.” Most recently, MBSL has demonstrated their commitment to philanthropy through a significant sponsorship toward making the new Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center in Sugar Land — a special project of the Children’s Museum of Houston – a reality. This Fort Bend landmark will house a dynamic learning environment for children, from birth to 12 years of age, and their families. Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land will be named as the permanent sponsor of the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center’s largest and most popular exhibit, Kidtropolis. Within a special section of the exhibit will be the Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Precision Center that will offer visitors the opportunity to simulate, in a child-appropriate way, MercedesBenz’s innovative and precision approach to the manufacturing and design of its vehicles. Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Precision Center will use experiential interaction strategies to reinforce learning in the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts/design, and math) disciplines demonstrating the concepts behind car design, manufacturing, inspection and safety. The exhibit activities will include a Car Design station where children will use design tools to express their new car ideas, an Assembly Bench to build models of steering and suspension mechanisms, an Inspection Bay to examine the car for “flaws” and a Crash Test Simulation to evaluate model cars for their ability to withstand a variety of scenarios. “It’s a tremendous gift for the families of Fort Bend County,” says Tammie Kahn, executive director of the Children’s Museum of Houston and the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center. “When children step into Kidtropolis, they will experience what it is like to live and prosper in a community.
