EDITOR’S LETTER Chilly and windy autumn is here, and I can’t help myself but constantly buying more candles and planning on tucking myself in to enjoy dark autumn days indoors. With a huge cup of hot chocolate. Whipped cream on top. And sprinkles, yes, sprinkles! But so far, it’s all still stuck in the planning phase... I believe that I’m not the only one always on the go-go-go because of my busy schedule, while noticing the to-do list growing by every minute. Things need to be done, places need to be visited, people need to be met – the focus is on everything and everyone except myself. But how could I ever take the time of it all without the guilt? Lately I’ve been thinking that if I’m constantly on the move from Monday to Friday, and even Saturdays consist of more business than pleasure, then I actually could have my well-deserved one day of rest. The world doesn’t stop without me, or does it..? So here’s a call to action: Let’s make Sundays our best friend, let it be our me-day! Spend some time just with yourself. Forget about scheduling any (home)work or meetings on a Sunday. Not anymore. Be a little selfish on your Sunday. You could start the day by pampering yourself with a DIY spa: take a warm and aromatic bath, and scrub off all the accumulated dirt and thoughts of responsibilities. And guys, some footbath and actual scrubbing-creaming wouldn’t hurt you either! After refreshing your body, your mind also needs some entertainment. How about getting comfy on the couch and re-watching your favorite TV-show – the more nostalgic, the better – accompanied by the food you love, like pancakes or XL pizza for one. Or vegetables, I don’t know… If you feel like going out, skip calling your friends at least once, and go to a café just with a book you’ve been dying to read but never had the time for it, or with a FOCUS Student Magazine – that’s always a good idea!

Staff

Or bake. Or go for a walk with your favorite music playing in your ears. Or work out. It’s all up to you, but don’t forget to do it for yourself and sometimes only by yourself. If you don’t like to spend time alone, then it will make you miss and appreciate your friends more which is also a good thing, isn’t it? So here’s to making your Sundays a little bit sweeter! *Raising my huge cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles. Yes, always sprinkles!*

SHOW MUST GO ON ! Text by Ileana Cocos

Are you a big fan of dancing? Of circus shows? Or sport? Or maybe of them all? The DGI International GymShow invites you to a colorful show, filled with elegant dancing, heart-racing beats and mind-blowing visuals. The very first show took place in 2012, and it was such a great success that the concept was repeated in 2014 and featured artists from as far as Kenya, Japan, the US and European participants from Norway and Germany. The show is planned for recreation once again in 2016. This year the show promises even more talented dancers and acrobats, gathered from all across the world, promising to satisfy any spectator’s hunger for a graceful art combination of music, dance and theatre.

“The DGI International GymShow 2016 will be a show with a variety

of spectacular artists from all around the world. Each of them has a unique set of skills and what they have in common is a playful approach to their act. Many hours of practice lie behind it and we are very glad that we are able to present these artists in our show. You will see young people who are indeed dedicated to their hobby and have made it their way of living. These artists have pushed the limits of their own abilities and hopefully you will find inspiration in a way that can make you believe in your own dreams. The DGI International GymShow 2016 will be a remarkable show and we are looking forward to seeing you all. ” Anders Nielsen, Choreographer

“ As choreographers, Anders and I are aiming at presenting the audi-

ence with a wide variety of acts that differ in genre, volume or number of artists. At the same time we strive to reach an overall coherence in the show. Each act is carefully chosen so that it correlates and interacts with the others, may it be in regards to atmosphere, forms, colours or artistic expression. With DGI International GymShow the audience will get a chance to see jaw-dropping acts performed live and they will have an experience far beyond what Youtube could provide. Besides spectacular international artists from around the world, the audience will also be able to enjoy the National Danish Performance Team (DGI ” Verdensholdet) who will reunite for this very occasion. Anna Kinoshita, Choreographer

CANDLES are also an important part of the Danish culture, or at least they seem to, especially during winter holidays. It is very often that I saw candles being lit up at night, before every meal, just to give the place a more relaxed and peaceful feel, and to enhance the “hygge” factor. Candles are all shapes, sizes and colors and they can be placed everywhere around the house and even in the bathroom.

WALL DECORATIONS are also pretty important here in Denmark, but most of the artwork you’ll find on the walls are far from bringing a splash of color in the house, and rather blend in. What I noticed is a very handmade approach to painting on the wall, so one can either hang random monochrome paintings on the walls or give talent and push and use some light-shaded watercolors to create an interesting piece of art, perfect for hanging in the living area.

Take those first 5 house design ideas which can be easily incorporated into any home, and create your own warm oasis with some simple cut and easy to blend Nordic-inspired highlights.
