he tables are set and the President and First Lady are ready to welcome their guests for the holidays. If you didn’t know better, you might think you were looking at the real thing, but right here in Clermont, you can see an exact replica of the White House, all decked out for the holidays, at the President’s Hall of Fame. As Ronald Reagan said, what we have here is “A National Treasure.” For over 40 years, visitors and collectors have come to see this display of exquisite, unique and one of a kind displays. Earlier this year, the White House exhibit was welcomed back to the museum after being on the road for 15 years. The theme for the 2011 holiday season at the White House is “Shine, Give, Share” which pays tribute to our troops, veterans, and their families. This year the State Dining Room features a gingerbread house made with gingerbread, chocolate and marzipan. The Blue Room is the official room of the White House Christmas tree, which this year is a
breathtaking 20 foot fir from Wisconsin. The tree at the little White House, true to its 1’= 1” scale, stands 20 inches tall, almost reaching the ceiling of the Blue Room. The creators of the White House exhibit, John and Jan Zweifel, launched Christmas with a ribbon cutting on November 16th and also received an official proclamation from Clermont Mayor pro-tem Ray Goodgame which named that day President’s Hall of Fame Day in Clermont, in celebration of the museum’s 50-year anniversary and return of the miniature White House earlier this year. Don’t miss Christmas at the White House this holiday season. It’s a real treat for all ages. The Presidents Hall of Fame is located at 123 North Highway 27 in Clermont. Admission for adults is $14.95, children 6-12 is $8.95, and free for children 5 and under with paying adult. VIP annual passes are available with paid adult admission. The museum is open daily from 10-4 p.m. and on Sundays 12-4 p.m. For more information, call 352-394-2836.
