Ibis Golf & Country Club The Ibis Golf & Country Club is a West Palm Beach enclave with three Nicklaus-family courses. It is truly a golf lover’s paradise. Florida is treasured for its wildlife, and nowhere is it more abundant or more revered than within the Ibis Golf & Country Club on the western outskirts of West Palm Beach. From the moment you enter royal palm-lined Ibis Blvd., you feel a world apart. It has a flavor unlike other luxurious residential communities. Nature permeates everything, including the golf courses. “Ibis is the only club in the world featuring three Nicklaus-family courses — Jack, Jack II and Steve — and each of them is rightfully unique,” Director of Golf Brad McCollum said. “Jack’s signature Legend course features an abundance of mounding. Jack II’s Heritage gives you the benefit of generous fairways, but requires more water carries. And Steve’s Tradition is more links style, with undulating

greens that place a premium on your short game. Play all 54 holes, and you’ll never see the same hole twice. With all three courses just recently regrassed, members will reap the benefits of a completely new experience.” What all of the courses have in common, beyond the Nicklaus stamp, outstanding layouts and meticulous grooming, is that the finishing holes of each course comprise, arguably, the three hardest finishing holes in Palm Beach County, which sits just fine with a membership that loves to play golf. The club boasts numerous member events and playing opportunities for all skill levels, and remarkably, close to 80 percent of spouses play. Ibis members have a number of ways to keep their game fine-tuned. The double-ended, 20-acre practice range is generous with five target greens, complimentary range balls and several short-game elements. A new Golf Fitting Studio features equipment

from all of the major manufacturers and showcases the latest technology in fitting equipment. The studio contains both indoor and covered hitting bays. Monthly complimentary golf clinics keep the active membership engaged. Heading up an instructional staff of 11 is Martin Hall, host of Golf Channel’s School of Golf. One of the country’s top instructors, Hall is a veteran of the European Tour and has taught players on the PGA Tour, Champions Tour and LPGA Tour, including Morgan Pressel. “While the superb quality of the golf initially draws many to Ibis, it is the extraordinary quality of life — what we refer to as ‘The Ibis Experience’ — that makes the membership well-satisfied,” McCollum said. Binks Forest Golf Club If you’re looking for a course where you can really concentrate on your golf game, the Binks Forest Golf Club offers a challenge for all skill levels.

for almost the entire course, allowing dedicated duffers to furrow their brows and make that long putt without distraction.

The course first opened in 1990 and was acclaimed for hosting that year’s PGA Tour Team Championship. Nestled near Wellington’s horse country, the course winds its way through the neighborhood with which it shares a name.

Binks Forest won rave reviews throughout the 1990s and became known as such a strong venue that it also hosted a PGA Tour event, the Sazale Cassic, won by Fred Couples and Mike Donald. It has been voted among Golf Digest’s Top 75 Public Golf Courses.

Gene Bates, one of the golf course’s original architects, who worked with Johnny Miller on the design, has applied his expertise to modernize the features and enhance the playability of the course, while preserving its unique original integrity. The sprawling, 220acre course still boasts the majestic pine-tree-lined fairways that makes it distinctive. What makes Binks Forest unique among Florida courses, though, is the rare layout characteristic of players not having to see an adjacent hole

The course and its 30,000-square-foot clubhouse were completely renovated in 2007. That project made Binks Forest a finalist in the Golf magazine “Renovation of the Year” competition’s daily fee division. The facility is also home to the Kevin Perkins Golf Academy, led by a wellknown PGA Master Professional. The academy provides world-class instruction in the finer points of the game to players of all ages and skills, including a popular junior program.

Binks Forest offers playability for golfers of all levels, and golf and fitness programs for all ages. Its clubhouse has a pool, fitness center, men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, and a ballroom that seats up to 300. Whether you are visiting the area and looking for a great place for a round of golf or a place to receive professionallevel golf instruction, or seeking a home for your charity golf tournament, looking for a fitting facility for your wedding or corporate meeting, or just looking for a great golf club where you can become a member and feel at home, the Binks Forest Golf Club is the place to find all of the above. The course is located at 400 Binks Forest Drive in Wellington. Call (561) 333-5731 or visit www.binksforestgc.com for more information.

Wycliffe Golf & Country Club The lush, rolling fairways of the Wycliffe Golf & Country Club’s two 18hole premier championship courses are both challenging and inviting, and cater to golfers at all skill levels. The core of Wycliffe’s jewel is a pair of distinctively different championship golf courses designed by awardwinning architects Karl Litten and John Sanford. “The most challenging hole is the par

4 East 18 signature hole,” Director of Golf Lynn Stebbins said. “Due to the length and the water hazard in front of the green, members must decide on whether to risk the reward and go for it, or play it safe and go for it in two, or go for it in three and hope for a oneputt play.” The outstanding golf experience at Wycliffe includes a full practice facility, orientation sessions for new members,

Members can also benefit from private and group lessons and clinics by highly experienced professionals, a fully stocked golf pro shop specially priced for members, complete golf-club services and repair, and an in-house golf cart service and sales center. Panoramic views of the closing holes of both courses can be enjoyed from the Grande Dining and Grille rooms. “Since moving to Wycliffe, golf has become a major part of our lives due to the people we have met and are now our friends,” said Stuart Friedman, a Wycliffe member since 2004. “We have become one big family who really care for each other.” Learn more at www.wycliffecc.com.

OKEEHEELEE GOLF COURSE

PARK RIDGE GOLF COURSE

Golf Professional Services OKEEHEELEE GOLF COURSE The Okeeheelee Golf Course offers 27 holes of championship golf — three nine-hole courses that can be played in three 18-hole combinations. Okeeheelee provides extensive practice facilities, which include a driving range, 30,000 square feet of putting green, chipping, pitching and bunker practice areas. Each hole has five tees to play from, so every skill level will feel comfortable playing there. With its unique park setting and beautiful vistas of Clear Lake, the facility is aptly named Okeeheelee, or “quiet waters”

in the Seminole Indian language. Okeeheelee is proud to participate in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP) for golf courses and is committed to environmental stewardship. The Okeeheelee Golf Course also offers a fully stocked golf shop as well as an award-winning professional staff for all skill levels. Learn more at www.golfproservices.org/ okeeheelee. PARK RIDGE GOLF COURSE The Park Ridge Golf Course is one of the most unique courses in South

Florida. You will not find elevation changes like it anywhere in the area. Topping 85 feet at its highest point, it just might be the highest golf experience in South Florida. The greens roll fast and true, and there are five sets of tees to accommodate all ages and abilities. By creating an 18-hole golf course on the closed Lantana landfill, Palm Beach County and the Solid Waste Authority turned a useless piece of property into a popular community asset. Originally closed in 1987, the Solid Waste Authority and Palm Beach County began construction of this unique facility in 2004. The golf course, which opened to the public in March 2007, has received engineering and environmental awards. The Park Ridge Golf Course is proud to participate in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP) for golf courses and is committed to environmental stewardship. The Fountains Country Club The Fountains Country Club is situated on 865 tropically landscaped acres where members enjoy a full spectrum of amenities, the heart of which are three exceptionally well-maintained championship golf courses, designed by world-renowned golf architects Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. The South Course is the newest, and its design includes attractive undulating contours and water features on 16 of its 18 holes. It offers the maximum risk/ reward for golfers. All the courses are member friendly, and this one is always

a lot of fun to play, no matter your handicap. The West Course starts at the main clubhouse, wanders through the community, and finishes at the No. 18 signature hole back at the clubhouse, providing a wonderful way to end a round. The North Course is the club’s longest and is notable for abundant water features and large greens. It is a particular favorite of those with low handicaps. In addition to a full tournament schedule, the Fountains offers twiceweekly clinics, a one-day short game

Players appreciate the consistency of the greens on all Fountains golf courses. The club also has superb practice facilities, with putting greens, pitching areas, bunkers and an expansive driving range that extends more than 300 yards.
