Weapons of the Spirit Documentary Film & Discussion Thursday, November 14, 7 p.m. The classic film by Pierre Sauvage depicts the remarkable wartime “conspiracy of goodness” in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, where a largely French Huguenot town hid several thousand Jews in plain sight. Professional Development Workshop for Educators Sunday, November 17, 8:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Based on the museum’s Graphic Details exhibit, this workshop will provide instructional materials for educators to teach students of all ages to examine their own developmental growth through this contemporary literature genre. Workshop fee: $8, includes materials (4) Master Plan Points for Miami Dade County Public School Teachers upon attendance and completion of follow up assignment. Walking Food Tours Kick Off: Sunday, November 17, 11 a.m. To complement Growers, Grocers & Gefilte Fish join us for a Walking Food Tour of South Beach! Shoah Through Muslim Eyes Thursday, November 21, 7 p.m. JMOF-FIU is proud to host the annual Holocaust Studies Lecture in conjunction

with the Muslim-Jewish Relations Series with Dr. Mehnaz Mona Afridi, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Director of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Interfaith Education Center at Manhattan College. Derived from her forthcoming book, her lecture focuses on her struggle with antisemitism within the Muslim community and on educating Muslims about the “Shoah” or Holocaust. Sufi Music & Poetry Tuesday, December 3, 2 p.m. Join Peter Rogen, a New York-based actor, and Alan Amir Vahab, a leading Turkish singer and musician, for a special evening of Sufi songs and music. Sufi music is the devotional music of the Sufis, a mystical dimension of Islam. Vaheb and Rogen will feature poets Rumi and Hafeez, two of the great figures in world spirituality, both emphasizing harmony among religions and the unity of G-d.
