Weapons of the Spirit Documentary Film & Discussion Thursday, November 14, 7 p.m. The classic film by Pierre Sauvage depicts the remarkable wartime “conspiracy of goodness” in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, where a largely French Huguenot town hid several thousand Jews in plain sight. Shoah Through Muslim Eyes Thursday, November 21, 7 p.m. JMOF-FIU is proud to host the annual Holocaust Studies Lecture in conjunction
with the Muslim-Jewish Relations Series with Dr. Mehnaz Mona Afridi, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Director of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Interfaith Education Center at Manhattan College. Derived from her forthcoming book, her lecture focuses on her struggle with antisemitism within the Muslim community and on educating Muslims about the “Shoah” or Holocaust. Sufi Music & Poetry Tuesday, December 3, 2 p.m. Join Peter Rogen, a New York-based actor, and Alan Amir Vahab, a leading Turkish singer and musician, for a special evening of Sufi songs and music.
