From the Coordinator’s Desk
Lab meeting and it was well appreciated and the launch of the magazine at the annual management fest of Delhi School of Economics, Atharava was finally devised at future lab meeting. It is in this context that Finshastra represents the culmination of a year’s efforts to push the envelope at every stage. Right from taking internationalizing the scope of Finshastra to putting together views and interviews from eminent personalities from the fields of finance and economics, Finshastra has carved an exclusive niche for itself, which we hope will continue to reflect in the quality of future editions of Finshastra. We foresee it to become a publishing platform of various research works, case study, articles and other stuff in the area of Finance and Sustainability and also other allied areas. We can later publish videos, animations and a variety of stuff in the online form of this initiative. We envision becoming like a Management Review. Gradually, we will launch a website which will include the articles, interviews, regular blogs, videos, collaborative insights from oikos International’s team of Student Reporters, research work, case studies, and opinions and reviews form our readers. Currently if you look at other big platforms of such things exist but there is very little focus on Sustainability. We want to generate knowledge bank of a variety of stuff involving strategy, finance, general management in the area of Sustainability. I would like to thank Lenka Parkanova , President oikos International and Alex Barkawi, oikos Advisor and President of the oikos Foundation for motivating us constantly to make the project bigger and helping us connect us with various chapters and lending constant support. I would also like to thank Presidents of all the oikos Chapters in spreading the word about Finshastra and their local chapters. Lastly, I would like to thank the entire team of extremely motivated oikees in New Delhi and FinCellians who made this year so successful for the cell and for each other.
It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of this new initiative on Sustainability and Finance as the President of oikos New Delhi. It took a lot of effort and planning on part of my team to create a very innovative project with a vision of making it a entire new platform for Finance related discussions, articles, interviews and other related content. oikos New Delhi Chapter partnered with Finance Cell, Delhi School of Economics to initiate and support the projects concerned with stability in financial markets and concept of shared values. To reach mass audience and target the change agents, we decided to create a truly international magazine called FINSHASTRA based on the theme “SUSTAINABLE FINANCIAL MARKETS: INNOVATION AND INVESTMENTS”. This theme is on the same lines of oikos agenda of promoting sustainable development by strengthening action competence among students of business and economics. Looking back at the journey of this project an immense effort was put forward to gather content from all around the world. In this first issue you will find interviews and articles from eminent personalities in this field. This project in future would serve as a platform to host a variety of content in both print and digital media under the same brand name “Finshastra”. In these efforts of both oikos and Finance Cell students have been remarkable to put up an entirely new avatar of Finance and Sustainability around the world. The Finance Cell of MIB, Delhi School of Economics continues to create an exclusive niche for itself when it comes to fostering the student community’s interest in finance, not just in MIB but nationally as well. 2012-13 has been a phenomenal academic year for FinCell – The Finance Cell of MIB, Delhi School of Economics.
