If I had to be completely honest my favourite room would be my lovely big pantry,” says Dianne. “I’m a real foodie and I find that cooking is the perfect antidote to work, so I spend a lot of my time in the kitchen – which is also extremely nice – and the pantry provides fantastic storage for everything I need to indulge my passion.”

The house has been the most wonderful family home, but I think it will be the garden that I’ll miss most,” says Dianne. “It’s absolutely stunning and I’ve loved being able to wander around, watch and listen to the birds and generally soak in these lovely surroundings.”

Seller Insight Perfectly located in the glorious Shropshire countryside, almost equidistant between the thriving towns of Shrewsbury and Oswestry is Stanmore House, a large and beautifully appointed family home that was built in the 1930s. “I’d say that there were two main factors that initially attracted us to this house,” says Dianne. “Firstly the setting is just gorgeous. We’re out in the countryside in this little enclave that’s surrounded by rolling green fields, and yet we’re well positioned in terms of accessing all the amenities and we benefit from really good transport links, so the location offers the best of both. In terms of the house itself, the biggest selling point was the fact that it gave us the opportunity to turn the annexe into very spacious accommodation that was completely self-contained,as we were very keen for my parents to come and live with us.” “The house was originally built in the 1930s and then a large architecturally designed extension was added in 1981; it’s been done so well that it’s almost impossible to tell old from new. The house as a whole is wonderfully spacious, each of the rooms is generously proportioned and they all flow beautifully. We have a large eat-in kitchen with double doors that lead straight into the more formal dining room, a huge lounge and each of the bedrooms is a really good size. It’s a house with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and it’s such a comfortable home to live in; we’ve been extremely happy here for the past 16 years.” “Another feature of this property that proved to be a huge selling point for us was the extensive garden, orchard and paddock,” continues Dianne. “We have a very large vegetable garden and when the children were little and we also kept chickens, sheep, pigs goats and horses; we were really living the good life. I remember sitting down to Sunday lunch one day and feeling so proud that everything on the table had been produced at home. The garden was also an absolute paradise for the children. They had space to run free in a safe and secure environment and the swimming pool was always a big hit. More often than not we had piles of children here when the weather was warm and we had numerous fabulous pool parties. The property as a whole has given us all a wonderful quality of life and we’ll take with us some very happy memories.” “If I had to be completely honest it would be my lovely big pantry,” says Dianne. “I’m a real foodie and I find that cooking is the perfect antidote to work, so I spend a lot of my time in the kitchen – which is also extremely nice – and the pantry provides fantastic storage for everything I need to indulge my passion.” “We’ve loved the fact that our immediate surroundings are so peaceful and picturesque,” says Dianne, “and yet we’re not in the slightest bit isolated. For basic needs we head into Oswestry, if I fancy wandering around the shops I generally take a trip into Shrewsbury, which is a lovely, historic market town with a park-and-ride service, and when I’m looking for something really special I head into Chester. In short, we’re spoilt for choice.” “The annexe is just lovely, and a really good size so it feels like a proper house in its own right.” says Dianne. “It has its own front door and it incorporates a lovely big sitting/dining room with French doors onto the garden, a nice kitchen, a bedroom and a shower room. My parent’s were very happy living in it.” “The house has been the most wonderful family home, but I think it will be the garden that I’ll miss most,” says Dianne. “It’s absolutely stunning and I’ve loved being able to wander around, watch and listen to the birds and generally soak in these lovely surroundings.”* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property.
