Senior Helpers in Hendersonville will be here to discuss their core values and how one can ensure a better quality of life for those affected by dementia. This will be held in the front of the auditorium. Snacks will be provided. WINDLANDS SOUTH TOUR AND LUNCH THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7 Join us for a tour of the Windlands South Independent Living Community and then a complimentary lunch. We will leave the center at 10:30 a.m. and the cost for the van is $5.00. Sign up in the front office for an appointment to talk with a representative from GNRC to assist you with questions about Medicare. AARP SAFE DRIVING COURSECOURSE-PART 1 MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18 You must attend both days of this 2-part class in order to receive credit for completing this in full. The second part will take place on Monday, November 25. This is from 12:00 till 4:00 p.m. Cost is $12.00 for AARP members and $14.00 for non-members. This is to be paid directly to the instructor. You must sign up in the front office. LISA’S LUNCHBUNCH TUEDAY, NOVEMBER 19. We are going to Monell ’s in Germantown! Tuesday specials are spinach lasagna and pot roast. They will also have their famous skillet fried chicken, southern veggies, salads, drinks dessert and biscuits. The food is served communal style. The cost for lunch is about $13.00 which will be paid to the server. Cost for the van is $5.00. Leave the center at 10:45 a.m. CENTER LUNCH WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20. Let ’s celebrate with a wonderful Thanksgiving meal from The Palm Café. We will have our own sing-along choir perform for us during this wonderful event. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Cost for the lunch $7.00. Music For Seniors THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21. This FREE event will take place at the Brentwood YMCA and will feature the Eclectic Five Swing Band. We will leave the center at 1:00 p.m. and the cost for the van is $5.00. SUPPER CLUB THURSDAY NOVEMBER 21 The supper club is headed to Maggianos on West End for some wonderful Italian food! If you have never been, you need to go! Cost for the van is $5.00. New Game day for active seniors! Gusteria, a member, has decided to lead game day on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. Let’s get together and play board games, cornhole or even a game of pool! We have also added darts to our list! Come and join the fun! Thank you so much Gusteria!!!

November Highlights... Susan Gardner is back in November! Join Susan on November 14 from 6:30 till 8:30 pm. Susan ,a professional organizer, will discuss how to prepare to pack away the Holiday. This workshop is geared toward making your celebrations more peaceable and next year ’s more organized. We have added a new Yoga instructor! Kara will be teaching Yoga on Mondays at 8:00 a.m. starting November 4. Kara moved to Nashville from eastern Pennsylvania. She has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and also studied Fine Arts at Kutztown University. Kara was introduced to Yoga by a friend in high school and loved the positive energy and serenity it created. She felt a deep sense of peace and inner awareness that she never experienced before. Since then, Yoga became a habitual routine in her life. She started teaching yoga in 2012, focusing on a slow and strong approach, and noticed the participants returning for every class. Currently, she is a freelance portrait artist drawing realistic portraits and eventually wishes to combine Yoga with Art for a totally therapeutic experience. The cost for this class will be $4.00 and will be paid directly to Kara. We welcome Kara to FiftyForward and I hope you all take advantage of her knowledge and passion she has for Yoga!

QIGONG Come and try Qigong on Monday, November 11 at 9:45 a.m. This is similar to meditation. It is the practice of aligning breath, movement and awareness for exercise, healing and meditation. With roots in Chinese Medicine, martial arts and philosophy, Qigong is viewed as the practice to cultivate and to balance. Come and check this class out so that we can see if it is something that our members would like to see as ongoing.

In loving memory of Ruth Depies We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Ruth Depies ’ family. Ruth passed away last month. She was a longtime member of FiftyForward Donelson Station and was responsible for helping get the caps crocheted for our troops. We will surely miss Ruth ’s spunky spirit and her smiling face. We would like to continue the caps in Ruth ’s honor. We do have some yarn available for those who are interested. Please see James in the front office for more information.

Office Staff Notes Hi everyone! This is an update from Lisa Maddox (Program Director) and James Cunningham (Morning Office Manager). We would like to welcome Joe Baker as our new afternoon Office Manager. Many of you may remember Joe working in our front office last summer. We are so happy to have him back with us! Make sure to stop by and say hello to him. Our corporate office is in the midst of interviewing for our new Director. Fran (Interim Director) will be here until a decision has been reached. We are so happy to have Fran ’s support during this time. We are doing a lot of cleaning and reorganizing in the front office. Come take a look! It really looks great! A music instructor at Belmont University by day, Contreras has recorded with notable musicians such as Charlie Louvin, Hank Williams III and has performed with the likes of George Jones and Ray Price.
