Monday, April 8, 9:45 a.m. – Free Fitness Demo Day Jump start your spring workout routine with a free fitness demo day! Come join us as we meet our new exercise instructor and view 30 minute sample sessions of Zumba Gold, aerobics, H.O.T.T, and Yogalates. This is a great way to find out what you are interested in before you commit to a class. Hope you can attend and see that exercise can be fun! Wednesday, April 17, 11:30 a.m. Birthday Potluck Mark Stewart, center member, will entertain us with storytelling. He has a wide array of stories to share from his repertoire. The Center provides the main dish, so please bring a covered side dish. Day Trips Wednesday, April 10, Loveless Café – Let’s travel down Highway 100 to eat at a nationally acclaimed café. The Loveless Café serves up award winning country ham and red eye gravy, real Southern fried chicken, and Nashville’s favorite scratch biscuits with homemade preserves cooked right in the kitchen Van leaves at 10:30 a.m. Van fee $5. Red Hat Society, Wednesday, April 24 Center member, Elizabeth Battle, has invited the group to tour her wonderfully restored home in College Grove. We will meet at the Center at 10:30 a.m. then car pool to her house. Bring a salad dish or dessert to share for lunch. Monday, April 29 - Spring Drive and Lunch Spring is in the air! Enjoy a scenic ride along the new stretch of SR 840. We will have a delicious lunch at Huff’s Grocery in the tiny community of Burwood. Huff’s is one of the last general stores still operating in Middle TN. Van fee $5. We will leave the center at 10 a.m. Save the date …Tuesday, May 14, Senior Day on the General Jackson This is a 2 ½ hour voyage on the Cumberland River. The tickets are $25 which includes a full lunch, entertainment and door prizes. The final payment is due by April 15. We will leave the center at 9:30 a.m. Van fee $5. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) available by appointment only. VITA offers free tax help for people in the low to moderate income range. Volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS. Please call the hotline number to sign up for an appointment, 830-7940.


CLASSEs Tuesday, April 30, 1 - 3 p.m. Bob Ross Painting Workshop Certified Bob Ross instructor, Liz Farrar, will teach a 2 hour class on 11x14 canvas in oil paint. Easy to follow, step by step instructions and demos for each step. This class is for beginners, yet experienced painters find they learn from it as well. Students should wear old clothes, since it tends to get messy! The cost is $20 and includes all supplies. You will take home a completed oil paint picture at the end of class. Sign up at center or call 368.7093. Non-members $3 fee. Bible Study The Bible study class meets the second and fourth Tuesday, April 9 and 23, 9:30 a.m. Everyone is invited. Facilitator: Frances Greathouse Computer Class Classes every Tuesday If you have a laptop, you may bring it to class. Pay as you go, $6 per class. Instructor: David Harmon Time: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Wi-Fi is available at the center. 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. M – F. Preserving Family Stories on the Computer Classes currently suspended until further notice Learn new ways to start creating a variety of unique personalized items of your memories with projects inside Heritage Makers Studio. In the first class series, a member created a wonderful book of her ancestry. You can make one with your own style and have a treasure to pass on to your children and grandchildren. Others made great Christmas presents of calendars. We have a multitude of projects you can create for your home, family and friends that will be treasured for years to come. It is all done on any internet connected computer...no fuss, no mess...at home or anywhere you choose. Give it a try and you'll be creating your own in no time!!! Pay as you go, $6 per class History and Genealogy The History & Genealogy Group meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 1 p.m. Please call the center first to confirm class meeting. Facilitator: Carolyn Smotherman Health & Fitness Zumba Gold This class is perfect for those just starting their fitness journey. It’s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly and fun with easy to follow invigorating moves. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:45 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. beginning Tuesday April 9. Class fees are $3 members and $5 non members Wear proper workout clothes and tennis shoes. Instructor: Gineille Sabilino certified Zumba instructor


Yogalates Yoga poses, combined with Mat Pilates exercises to help improve balance, flexibility and a full body workout for all levels and body styles. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. beginning Tuesday, April 9. Class fees are $3 members and $5 non members. Wear proper workout clothes. Barefoot or socks with rubber grips on bottom Instructor: Gineille Sabilino Line Dancing Learn the latest and hottest new line dances Friday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. You will have a great time while you feel the benefits of a cardio workout. Center members, Sam and Shirley Kirtley, are great instructors and line dance enthusiasts. No fee. Cathy Smotherman assistant dance instructor and researcher. Blood Pressure Checks Every other Thursday at 10 a.m. blood pressure checks by Willowbrook Home Health Care. Massages Wednesdays by appointment April 3, 10, 17 and 24 Licensed Massage Therapist, Kathy McFarlane, has years of experience serving mature adults with a gentle touch. Cost: $45 mbrs. $60 non-members Writer’s Group Writing, Etc. is for people who love and appreciate the written word whether it is poetry or prose, fact or fiction. The group is open to published writers, beginners, and those who are at any point in between. Gentle critiques are given if requested. Come write with us every first and third Thursday of each month. April 4 and 18, 1 – 3 p.m. Free for members. Non members fee $24 a year. Hand Work Group The group continues to meet every Thursday at 10 a.m. to knit, crochet, construct quilt pieces, tat, cross stitch and other types of hand work. A great time to visit with others while working on individual projects. New participants are welcome. Mentoring and tutoring available. No fee. FiftyForward College Grove Book Discussion Group The book discussion group meets April 16 at 9 a.m. to discuss My Antonia by Willa Cather. New members are always welcome.
