The Faculty of Humanities (FH) manages this program and the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) provides administrative support. Notre Dame University – Louaize NDU is a private, Lebanese non-profit Catholic institution of higher education modeled on the American system of education. As a Catholic institution inspired by the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Maronite Order of the Holy Virgin Mary, NDU seeks to provide comprehensive quality education that fosters excellence in scholarship, lifelong learning, enlightened citizenship, human solidarity, moral integrity, and belief in God. NDU offers undergraduate and graduate programs in seven Faculties: Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design (FAAD), Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (FBAE), Faculty of Engineering (FE), Faculty of Humanities (FH), Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLPS), Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FNAS), and Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FNHS). These programs are designed to prepare professionals endowed with a liberal education that allows them to become civically-minded individuals in society capable of contributing to the sustainable development of their communities. Sport Management at the FH Committed to the principles of academic excellence in higher education, NDU President Fr. Walid Moussa, CIES President Bertrand Reeb, and CIES General Secretary Vincent Schatzmann, signed on May 24, 2012 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer a Certificate in Sport Management, aligned with national and international standards. This Certificate aims at professionalizing the sports sector in Lebanon through fostering sports management skills, competencies, teamwork, and participation among individuals working in the sports world. The core goals of the Certificate are to promote social cohesion and citizenship values in Lebanon’s diverse society where individuals from a variety of backgrounds will have the opportunity to develop their abilities to live and work together in a diverse society and to become lifelong learners. We are proud to be among the 16 countries that offer this distinguished program in sport management. In March 2013, a diverse group of 19 individuals came together for the first session, and in June 2014 we celebrated the graduation of the first edition of the NDU/FIFA/CIES Certificate in Sport Management. So far, two cohorts comprising 26 students have graduated from the Certificate and are presently thriving in their diverse professions in Lebanon and abroad having been well trained to become competent and skillful managers in the field of sports management. As an institution of higher education, we constantly strive to provide members of the community with lifelong learning opportunities to help them improve their professional, educational and career choices. Kamal Abouchedid, Ph.D. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities

CIES IN LEBANON It is a great honour and an immense pleasure for CIES to launch its third program for sports administrators in Lebanon in cooperation with NDU. For more than twenty years CIES, which benefits from the financial support of FIFA, has developed a great number of projects with the purpose of achieving a better understanding of the multiple facets of sport and of football in particular. This is why our organisation has carried out extensive research in the fields of law, economics, geography, history and sociology. It has also created an International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport (the FIFA Master) in which more than 380 students from more than 90 countries have already participated. Additionally, the CIES Observatory gathers experts specialised in the statistical analysis of sport. Its aim is to provide top-level services for sports governing bodies in the areas of questionnaire surveys, databases, data mining, business intelligence and reporting. Finally, since 2004, CIES has been developing and managing an International University Network which comprises to date 16 members in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Trinidad & Tobago, and Venezuela. In Lebanon, NDU is the dynamic and enthusiastic partner of this project.

In the age when sport has become one of the key actors of society, it is vital to continue our efforts so that it can retain its power of attraction and its dignity. Remarkable sporting achievements and their economic implications must preserve unwavering ethics. The FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in sport management helps to meet this objective. Our presence in Lebanon demonstrates our will to offer the future sports administrators of this country - and its neighbours - practical tools in such varied fields as communication, law, finance, general management, event management, marketing and sponsoring. The important thing is that these instruments are adapted to local realities in order to optimise their efficiency. It will be the role of NDU to ensure that this is the case. Bertrand Reeb CIES President

“Through this program, I acquired a comprehensive, multidisciplinary view of what is related to sports from a management perspective. The program has expanded my knowledge in different fields through the different modules. It has provided the necessary expertise and has helped me develop my managerial skills even further by acquiring the necessary innovative tools and techniques that can be adapted to local and international realities.”

“The Program has enriched me in the sense that it is clearer to me now where to direct my future professional steps. On a personal level, the human quality of my colleagues has fully satisfied me.”

Antoine Najm

“My expectations were exceeded in many ways. The quality of lectures and guest speakers - who were involved in real events, such as the World Cup 2010 and Cricket World Cups, as well as the FIFA guest speakers - and the practical approach of the course were really good. (…). The experiences and knowledge gained from this Program will last forever.”

Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon – Class 2015 “The program did meet my expectations: The curriculum was rich with information; the course schedule was well organized, instructors provided us with many practical examples and testimonials from the sports industry given their high level of experience; final projects gave us a boost to make profound research and conferences were highly beneficial due to the high profile of the guest speakers. In September 2015, I got accepted in the Master’s program in Sports Management at Aix-Marseille University. The NDU FIFA/CIES Sport Management program was essential for the acceptance of my file.”

Filip Adamus Kozminski University, Poland – Class 2015 “Our group – the first edition in Poland – was diverse and everyone had different experiences connected with sport. This resulted in many interesting discussions. We are still in touch, and who knows, perhaps we will implement some of our joint projects in the near future! I recommend this Program.”
